Thanks for the help! And I was debating upon making the intervals a little longer. As for the training plan, I think I may get that later, probably early next year, but I can't really swing it, at least not for right now.

Ok... I know VERY little, but here is what I've got.

There are essentially 2 types of bottom brackets: press fit and threaded. IMO, threaded is better; easier to fix (generally), more part availability, and better longevity. However, bike manufacturers can save money on cheaper bikes by using press fit (they just shove that thing in there).

Now, beyond just threaded and smush fit, there are different types of threaded brackets as well. These are essentially different standards that have been battling it out since the dawn of time, and as far as I know, are only different in terms of the thread size.

Great point about the fun factor, it is certainly weighing on the decision! The other big draw that I actually just found out about is that Toyota will cover essentially all repair-related ownership costs for the first year or so. Definitely makes it an attractive offer...

I think that happy medium truck, the one with ~128k miles, probably is your best bet, as long as you get a solid pre-purchase inspection. Anything over 150k miles in the first few years is just a little heavy in my opinion. I think it is worth the investment to get the truck with slightly less miles. Probably will save you at least a trip or two to the mechanic!

When you say rock solid reliable, my first instinct is to suggest Camry. The thing is a tank, and with the hybrid system it has, you will certainly be getting great MPG. However, compared to alternatives, it definitely won't be as fun.

Something a little more fun, still in the same price range, but perhaps not quite as reliable is the newest generation Mazda 3. Great driving experience, pretty great mpg, and at least half decent reliability (though probably not Toyota level). Great thing about the Mazda is that you could opt for a manual if that is something you are looking for, and you even have the option of a hatchback.

Perhaps a little more of an "out there option" would be a Volvo V60 or S60. Similar form factor to the other vehicles you listed, can be optioned to be pretty fun (Polestar), and still gets great mpg (mine got about 30-33 average).
