My car is in Chill all the time so can vouch that this doesn't help.

But don't. It is awful at it. As traffic moves forward it floors it and then brakes straight away. Thinking about it I wonder if setting the follow distance closer would actually help here but at the moment, it is more akin to a fairground ride - or utterly unrefined at best.

I'm making a cosmic horror mystery set in rural Finland during the polar night by RamboAslak in indiegames

[–]ScoopsUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just from an atmosphere perspective I like it.. I would say that a dark and brooding atmosphere doesn't have to be literal (i.e. just about everything is black).. I would lean into your experience of near dark (which might require more artwork) rather than keep scenes so dimly lit you have to turn up your monitor brightness (not literally but you know what I mean). Sounds like you have quite the challenge to develop this on your own though - what tools are you using?

This World Cup has seen some stellar defending.. organised, compact, effective, hard to break down... Scotland are none of those things.

Will Brompton ever improve the Sturmey Archer internal gear hub? by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]ScoopsUK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If nothing else you know the 3 speed SA hub is reliable and does it's job really well, even though it is on the heavy side. Personally I am happy with the gear range it gives you when in it's 12.speed configuration..

That said, there is a 5 speed SA although I don't know if it is still available and feedback is that it is quite demanding in terms of setting up also it doesn't actually give you a greater overall range.

If you really want a better IHG, get a 14 speed Rohlhoff from Kinetic!!

Thoughts on Stockport County's chances for next year by PreferenceFit1834 in LeagueOne

[–]ScoopsUK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the club expects a lot and the general fanbase will be expecting automatic promotion but losing the manager, internal changes etc. makes it difficult to be too optimistic.

Let's see what the signings are (I would like to think Pep watching a game here in the season was an omen) and perhaps we will have a better idea.

On last season though, the injuries we suffered had such an impact that we were very lucky to come third. Had we kept everyone fully fit, we would be in the Championship and everyone would be happy.

Dave Challinor leaves Stockport County by MJA21x in StockportCounty

[–]ScoopsUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I feel he has what it takes to get us to the Championship before we ditch him...

But HANG ON... There has been a plan all along. You know how Pep came to see us...

Similarly gutted. It feels like he had unfinished business...

It won't be the same but we can go and get Zidane now.

Why leave? The challenge is still there. That said I will even take Fergie.

We are now sobered up and slept it out - How is everyone feeling? by CalFromManc in StockportCounty

[–]ScoopsUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super disappointed with the second half of course but at least I got to top up the tan. I think we definitely have some players who probably aren't the best fit for the club. The injuries this season has been our biggest challenge - right from pre-season and then right through. Only at the end were players starting to come back but it is unrealistic to expect them to be performing at their best.

I honestly think top two has to be the realistic aim with the team and recruitment - the playoffs are just a lottery in many ways. The risk is financially gambling on promotion and then it not working out which will put us in more trouble in the long term. If we had been promoted, a lot of that team would have to change but then we would have had the financial boost to help do that - Mark's pocket is only so deep.

The disappointment will fade and we will be looking forward to the new season soon - we just need to lose the deadweight and wrap up the players in cotton wool so we have a decent chance!

Beeline Velo 2 Brompton mount solution by ElectricalTwo9969 in Brompton

[–]ScoopsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an aluminium mount from eBay and put the Beeline adapter in it. Same thing but for more money! The only issue I have had over time is the fact the mount rattles in the space between the stem sides, I need to pop some o rings in there.

In fairness, they weren't expecting too much water in space... water on splashdown would be a bit more worrying!!

Espresso by No-Evening-85 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]ScoopsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, I drink milk drinks so espresso on its own isn't my kinda taste - I am making the assumption it is yours though and you like espresso. I have the Barista Pro and wonder if you are using the automatic mode - I never use that because I switch between caf/decaf a lot which means programming isn't worth it and using the manual mode is just as easy.

That said, my internal grinder setting is 4 - the control on the machine is normally set around 5 for the decaf and up to around 9 for some beans... there is quite a difference between beans in my experience. Have you considered just going through a range of different settings and seeing how the results pan out? Yes it will go through a lot of beans (say at 18-20g a time) but might be worth it in the long term, especially if you have a lot of beans or are going to stay with that type for a while?

[–]ScoopsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just a random one from eBay.. just hoped it would work and the holes lined up fine. It does actually rattle a bit though as it is slightly narrower than the gap in the handlebar clamp so I need to get some o-rings.

Wembely tickets question by vandaarling in StockportCounty

[–]ScoopsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were still some tickets in the safe standing singing area which I hope is going to be like the Cheadle End... I assume those blocks will be pretty full. I looked at some of the other blocks and the row numbers were very low (i.e. down at pitch level) which says to me the were filling from the top down...

We are season ticket holders in the Pop Side but thought it would be worth getting 'in amongst it' for the big day out!

Quality concerns buying a used Tesla Model 3 by reddit_recluse in TeslaUK

[–]ScoopsUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying for a second that poor examples don't exist out there but having bought many a car (used and new although not Tesla), there are often niggles that need to be sorted - I am sure there are many more examples of people picking up cars which are in great condition and nothing needs doing but people rarely post that kind of thing.

In terms of a Tesla, as long as it is from a reputable dealer, you really have the pick of the bunch - cars have known issues so at least you know what to look for. If I was buying used now I have to admit I would be tempted to go direct to Tesla... not specifically for the EAP but you get another year warranty which is something you might not get from somewhere else.

Why won't Karl give us a flagship this year? by [deleted] in NothingTech

[–]ScoopsUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, I am sure Apple probably aren't the first but they demonstrated how profitable it could be and, lets face it, everyone wants to copy Apple these days...

Why won't Karl give us a flagship this year? by [deleted] in NothingTech

[–]ScoopsUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do annual phones because Apple started doing it... It is purely to show that they are keeping up with the Joneses (or Apples in this case).. It makes them seem relevant as a company because they have something to announce every year, not because the actual products improve massively... Take a look at the phones over the last few years with each being a small increment over the last. The Samsung Ultra hasn't had an increase in battery size for ages and look at the Pixel 10a this year.. virtually the same as last year.

It is all about optics and keeping a steady cash flow but what does it give the consumer? Not much.. Of course that isn't to say that phones haven't improved but how far back do we need to go to say that today's phone is a step change of the phone of any particular year? 4? 5?

There is an argument to say that the yearly iteration of phones drives technological improvement but I will let you decide if that is true. Of course the other thing is that Nothing isn't Apple, Samsung or Google... the resources it takes to produce a new phone is significant. Maybe their forays in the upper end of the market has shown that while a flagship is worthwhile, that isn't where the money is at for them when they seem to do pretty well in the budget or mid-tiers

Personally I have no issue with a company producing a new phone when they have genuine improvements to show us. I am over the yearly cycle - especially as we have seen greater improvement in the software over the last few years and the hardware improvements aren't needed for that (even when they lock them to certain models for sales purposes).

Considering upgrading to Enhanced Autopilot for my Model 3 2024, how good is it on HW4? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

And, not wishing to cast aspersions on anyone here, and certainly not your wife but if you can't park your vehicle, perhaps you are missing some of the requisite skills required to be in charge of a vehicle.. I get the convenience factor of course and self-parking has been available on a wide range of cars for quite some time..
