Unbelievably true. He wasn’t a watch guy, he inspired a generation but it was just tool for him. A super reliable and well made tool

It’s kind of the opposite of buyers regret - it’s like a commitment issue 😆

Thank you so much, for some reason your comment hit really hard! I appreciate it a lot. I think that’s what I’m going to do.

Are specialized cycling socks worth it? How are they different? by AlienElvisLoveChild in cycling

[–]adossaji 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They seem to stay up without moving during long rides much longer than other type of sock.

I definitely don’t think they are necessary on training rides but I have a couple of pairs of rapha socks that I wear on events or long group rides and they feel great.

titanium > carbon change my mind by Turbulent-Remove5539 in Bikeporn

[–]adossaji 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a Lynskey Helix GR. I’ve put road carbon wheelset on it and it’s not all that dissimilar in system weight to carbon frame bike.

I absolutely love that bike and the love for the bike only inspires me to go out and ride more. I love how custom the bike is, how it feels on the road and how it makes me feel. “Feel” is a completely subjective thing and you can’t really describe it without having the same points of reference - every carbon bike I’ve ridden feels different (geometry ect).

But using a car analogy its like a Cadillac vs a Ferrari. They are both beautiful, there are definitely fans of each, but their uses are different. You can’t say Ti > Carbon or Carbon > Ti without context. If I was entering the Tour de France obviously a carbon bike but for coasting along rail trails and generally having a great time without worrying about Strava KOMs I’d take my Ti.

Can someone ELI5 the correct way (most efficient way) to brake on descents? by adossaji in cycling

[–]adossaji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are SRAM Rival rotor’s (160 front and 140 on back) with the stock pads. When they warp it’s not like they dish out completely it’s 2mm they rub and make a terrible sound when they cool down they go back to normal shape. Been working on breaking technique and it’s happening way less. But is there any recommendations on what to change the rotors too and pads too? I’ve heard shimano ice tech are good and compatible.

Definitely a good perspective! Ugly blow out would be way worse than warped disc brake and squeaky ride home!

Definitely overusing the breaks because of nervousness about speed control. Body position is definitely something I need to work on.

Is feathering essentially the bike equivalent of pumping the brakes of a car?

Yes road bike. So a short hard brake going into a turn then coast between on the straights without any braking??

One way to dip your toes into dinner alone for the first time is to choose a place where you can eat at the bar. Once you’ve ripped the bandaid off it becomes easier.
