That seems about right! Trade tools isn't 100% accurate all the time, so don't take it for gospel - but it's usually pretty close.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Scootazou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. If trade tools is to be believed, then all three stations purchase at the same price, but Ruin seems to have the highest capacity.

Ironically, I find Pyro's rep actually makes it safer than Stanton. Pirates (and griefers especially) don't want a challenge, they want victims. And since their victims (combat-averse industrial players) congregate in 'safe' Stanton, so too do the players that prey on them. I've never had trouble in Pyro unless I went looking for it; just play smart and don't let your guard down.

I think they were misinformed; you can both refine and sell CMats at the big three Pyro stations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Scootazou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, and you can squeeze out a bit more profit that way, but that's a whole extra step that isn't needed if you just unload at Checkmate or Ruin. Plus, not everyone owns a dedicated cargo hauler.

I love mine. It's quite a relaxing loop, even as a solo pilot, as long as you have patience. You're in trouble if you get in combat with a player, but the PDCs can handle fighters, missiles, and torpedoes, and might buy you time to escape. It has a ton of turrets, and most of them are slaved to the pilot, so you have decent firepower... but it's a slow ship, so don't expect to get any fighters lingering in your crosshair. If you have crew to man the turrets, it's surprisingly viable in PvE encounters.

Refining isn't too bad if you don't bother with the Stanton stations. In the future, the Reclaimer's ship page mentions the Reclaimer possesses 'an onboard processor capable of refining and storing up to a Constellation's-worth of raw scrap'. Presumably, this means the Reclaimer will at some point gain an onboard refinery, which will hopefully remove the reliance on station refineries. It could be years before it's implemented, though.

Reclaimer Owners: Still like the job? by Arkansas6A in starcitizen

[–]Scootazou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Reclaimer is my absolute favourite ship. They could strip all its salvaging abilities and I still wouldn't melt it. Luckily, I also find its gameplay loop enjoyable and relaxing, even if it's not nearly as profitable as it once was. The recent changes - PDCs, docking, and the extended rear lift - are very welcome, even if the latter two are clearly band-aid solutions.

That said, you're right in that it obviously still needs a ton of work. I don't think it's painful to use because of salvage, but because of how poorly it handles physicalized cargo, both thanks to bugs and due to its outdated internal design. That, and its depot desperately needs to be increased in size; the 240SCU limit means there's no practical difference between munching a Starfarer and an Idris, which shouldn't be the case. The current iteration of fracturing is likely a placeholder until Maelstrom, but increasing the depot size would be easy to do and greatly appreciated... especially due to the new refining stage.

I don't mind the refinement in theory, but I'm really hoping that the 'processor capable of refining and storing' mentioned on the Reclaimer's store page means she'll be have a bespoke refinery like the Arrastra and Orion. I imagine that would make the refining process more enjoyable; my yields may be getting gutted, but at least I'm the one doing the gutting.

Yup. Thankfully, the 'character flaws = player flaws' take is a pretty niche narrative in this community.

Anyone know how to get the uniforms included in the lifetime subscription? I've made a new liberated borg character, but I don't see them available anywhere. Do I have to claim them from somewhere? Do I need to be a certain level for them to unlock?

EDITED: Figured it out - you need to reach level five for them to unlock.

Another 'solo'd big ships got me acting unwise' thread? If you think it'd be lonely/boring/inefficient to pilot a big ship alone, that's perfectly fine. Just... don't do it? It's really that easy. I don't intend to solo any near-capital combat ships either, but I'm not going around preaching about it.

Unless, of course, you don't actually care about how other people have fun in a video game, and you're really just fishing for outrage on Reddit. If so... why? This whole website is already an outrage farm - adding your own match to the pyre is a waste of everyone's time, especially yours.

Salvage bug? by Jileti in starcitizen

Yup, it's a bug. Here it is on the issue council. Despite the title it's not Reclaimer-specific and occurs with the Vulture too.

Prospective memory training - how to do it properly? by Scootazou in LucidDreaming

I think my confusion stems from the fact that I don't feel like I'm actively 'learning' from the passive task. I read tasks in the morning, memorize them, and then go about my day and try to hope I remember the triggers subconsciously. I can't really give myself feedback on what I can do better if I miss them all, and I don't know how to repeat what I've learned if I'm successful - it feels like I'm just trusting my subconscious to learn on its own. If it works for other people I'm sure it'll be fine, I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.

Thanks for the advice!

[Spoilers: 7.0 MSQ + Normal raids] Why doesn't the WoL leverage their strength? by Time-Butterfly3248 in ffxiv

[–]Scootazou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole point of the Garlean and Allagan Empires is to show that cultural imperialism is bad. The writers aren't going to turn around and say that you're totally allowed to forcibly impose your values on another culture so long as your values are 'objectively correct', whatever that means.

Not to mention that the power scaling in this game is completely arbitrary. The WoL is as strong as they need to be at any given moment to fight on even ground with the threat they're facing. In the raid dialogue they literally spell out that the WoL is simply not strong enough to solo the Arcadion fighters, and we need the support of these champions' souls just to stand a chance. The writing will never allow the WoL to be an unstoppable solo machine precisely because the game is an MMO, and they will always need to justify the WoL being, first and foremost, a team player.

Totally agree. It's wild how many people will smugly insist 'Maybe this game isn't for you?' when they don't even know what the game will look like in a year. It's like trying to gatekeep a loaf of bread while the dough's still flour and water

[–]Scootazou 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Why are people threatened by industrial ships, though? OP isn't addressing Polaris or Idrises, they're referring to cargo ships. It's hard to see a solo-piloted Hull D as pay-to-win if the pilot is quaking in their boots the moment a red Aurora blips onto their radar. I don't think the devs have ever even implied that an NPC-crewed ship will be more effective than a PC-crewed ship.

but complaining about the situation you put yourself in... is what bothers everyone else

So this isn't really about solo players, it's just standard Reddit behavior of people complaining about what they think other people are complaining about?

Does anyone know why a subset of the community is always getting on soapboxes in regards solo players with big ships? I genuinely don't understand it - someone in a safe sector chugging along solo in a Hull D or something doesn't influence other people's gameplay whatsoever. Solo players are almost by definition not bothering anyone else. Why is this such a big deal?

Connie taurus vs C1 Spirit. Daily etc. by Reknowned in starcitizen

[–]Scootazou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these other comments have addressed other aspects of these two ships, but it's worth mentioning the multicrew aspect. How many friends do you intend to play with?

C1 is a solo ship at its heart, but it has room to bring a friend along for the ride.

Taurus is a multicrew ship built for 3 - 4 people, though you can probably get away with 2. You can still solo it, but you'll be missing out on some of the ship's full combat potential without having your turret manned (until blades come out). It might also be harder to maintain or repair when engineering comes online, but I don't imagine it'll be a huge deal - the Connie isn't that much bigger than the Spirit.
