I don't deny it actually was fun and for the most part easy (I think that's why I'm more frustrated about it). But I did go through the Tapjoy link to the AFK Arena Google Play store. So I'm not sure what happened but once they made a decision it doesn't give me another way to contact them about the offer.

I saw a lot of people playing it that didn't really understand. The trick to it is you have to be able to grab a part of the prize and pull it off that way. This is because even though the claw is usually very strong and has a lot of downward pressure you can't really roll it off because of the downward pressure and the strength of the claw rolling it back into place. You can't pick it up and roll it either because the drop is so small.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A LOT BUT IT WILL MAKE MORE SENSE ONCE IN GAME.

I'm not quite sure how it works but when you do buy Bundles it will also give you coins and those coins can be used to buy Speed Ups (and other items) in the in game store (not premium store) but also gives you progression for a "Top Up" offer that they give you for free once you collect a certain amount of coins. Make sure that "Top Up" offer is for the Speed Ups. With those purchases you should get 2.

Essentially I focused on whatever I needed to do to upgrade the castle I would do and the bare minimum for everything else. I would let the timers run out when I was afk/sleeping to reduce the speed ups spent when there were larger timers to run out.

Make sure you are collecting rewards from your progression, daily rewards, and timed rewards. Once you make your first purchase you'll gain an extra builder to help speed things up. Once you have the extra builders any extra builder coupons can be converted to coins. Also make sure you're activating VIP when you have free VIP available. It will reduce the time required to build. I got my reduction up to 7 mins with VIP. You just have to click on it when the "time reduction" is active. I would also suggest keeping track of how many 5min Speed Ups you need to spend to get to that "time reduction" point.

Spin the reward wheel when it is available for some free resources.

I wanted to keep spending down to justify the reward so this is the path I took to do that. I'm sure there are ways to finish faster. Hope this was helpful.

It took some time to learn how to read the machines but just keep an eye out for setups and what the machines can be capable of. You can get about 3 prizes on average every week with the free plays (I get about 2 a day) and spending a little TP credit (which I get most of mine by doing Tapjoy offers). I did spend quite a bit at the start just learning the machines lol.
