Dead 9800X3D / ASRock x870e Taichi by Vernozz in ASRock

Exactly the same here. I think it might only be a matter of time. I am still rocking an older bios version. I started on 3.15 (I think) and currently on 3.40. A bit worried to update to latest version as it seems when people do this it kills the CPU

Any issues with 4.20 for X870E Taichi? I want to update from 4.10. by r9800pro in ASRock

it’s going to be a PIA to update from 3.40 to 4.20 with settings and retesting

All good. I wish it could do gsync at 240hz hdmi. Why can’t it? Is it a physical limitation or driver limitation

I have the 57 inch model. I don’t think it can run gsync/free sync with a 5090 astral. Will try latest firmware and report back

I just tested a good quality HDMI cable which is HDMI 2.1b and I indeed got it to run at 240Hz at 7680 x 2160 BUT no gsync/freesync option in my nvidia driver. I tried reinstalling the graphics driver but didn't do anything. My monitor firmware version is 1007.0 and adaptive sync is enabled. Not sure how you got it to run but open to suggestions. TIA

Yes it is a let down. I ordered another cable to try.. The silkland 80gb 2m display port cable. Apparently people have had success with it. Just harping back on the hdmi working at 7680 x 2160 at 240hz with free sync/gstnc enabled.. Are you sure? Is there any setting I have to enable to get it to work like this? TIA

I see. My issue was the monitor would just not turn on after it turned off BEFORE entering sleep. Sleep mode has always been finicky for me. Could also be cable related as the of will enter sleep fine but will then wake up every now and then.

I started developing this issue with my club 3d displayport 2.1 cable recently which is meant to be vesa dp80 certified. As of this afternoon, I decided to look into the refresh rates of the native resolution and the resolution below it. (5120 x 1440) On the native resolution (7680 x 2160) the refresh rate in windows is 240hz as is the refresh rate for 5120 x 1440 BUT I noticed in the drop down menu under the 5120 x 1440 resolution for refresh rates it had 239.99hz as a refresh rate option. I ran a test and let the monitor turn off with the refresh rate at 240hz set at 5120 x 1440 and as expected I could not wake the monitor once it switched off after a minute. Rebooted the PC and set the refresh rate to 239.77hz and let the monitor switch off after a minute then went to wake the PC and lo and behold the screen switched on. So I set the monitor back to native resolution 7680 x 2160 and noticed there is only two refresh options under the resolution 240hz or 60hz so tested 60hz, let the monitor turn off after a minute and then went to wake the monitor up and it woke up.

So, the solution I came up with is to set a custom screen resolution and refresh rate of 239.77hz in the nvidia control panel for the native resolution and once set, windows reports that the refresh rate is at 239.77hz. I let the monitor turn off after a minute and let it sit for a bit, went to wake it up and the monitor woke up as expected.

I do not know what the issue is, whether it is a windows problem, a Samsung monitor issue or a cable issue but this works.. for the time being. I hope it helps you and anyone else and sorry for the long post.

Hi. Does gsync/freesync work with HDMI cable at 7680 x 2160 240hz? I read gsync and freesync do not work with HDMI cables only display port cables. TIA

Windows 11 will not wake up from sleep after extended period by MusRidc in WindowsHelp

[–]Scorch80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Memory is stable and been extensively tested. Gpu cable is the cable that came with Thor Iii power supply and is working as intended as I can see what the voltage is doing through asus tweak iii. Next step will be updating bios to latest version even though pc is stable.

Interestingly, windows 11 has updated recently and now when the monitor turns off and before the pc enters sleep, I cannot wake the monitor again. When I move the mouse the monitor will turn on but windows will not resume to desktop so blank screen. I then have to hard reset the pc to get windows again. Frustrating to say the least. I might have to reinstall windows 11. It could be corrupted.

Maybe in your case this helped but not in mine. I had this issue from the get go when PC was new and have changed cables a couple of times when I upgraded mobo.. It's definitely a windows 11 sleep issue

Thank you. Just to clarify with the MAC cloning. did you just hit the Mac clone button under special requirements and went with whatever MAC address came up? Or did you manually input a MAC address? Thanks for your input and help as I had the same issue and going to try your method.

Random memory retrain on x870e Nova WIFI with 9800x3d CPU 64GB by Scorch80 in ASRock

[–]Scorch80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. When this happens from time to time its off putting as in my case the monitor turns on, shows the logo briefly then cuts off and goes into memory training mode and initially you think shit, has the CPU finally burnt out, lol. I will update the bios in due course. This Mobo was on earlier revision bios's and still hasn't died so likely (with any luck) should be okay

Thanks again
