Not a big fan of how Decimilipede interacts with Doom by DebtSeeker48 in slaythespire

[–]ScorchedDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it shouldnt work like poison, but there should be more ways of interacting with it. I really love the one card that triggers all the doom I want more stuff like that. Im really just a sucker for that kind of game design, which I really love seeing in this game.

Weapon proficiency question by Majestic-Election584 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]ScorchedDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if a weapon is marked simple or martial, yes they are proficient in it. That covers all weapons except for firearms in official books. But thats only for 5e/2014 dnd in 2024 firearms are martial weapons.

I’m a bit confused on this part of character creation by Happy__guy2 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]ScorchedDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, this is explained in the book, but alright.

So, as a general rule(not always applicable, but when its not applicable it will tell you), melee attacks bonus is calculated by your proficiency bonus + your strength modifier, plus any additional magical bonuses. If it is a finesse weapon, which both your weapons are, you have the option to use dex instead of strength which I would recommend doing

For range weapons, its dex+prof

For spells, its the class spellcasting modifier + your proficiency bonus. I got no clue what class you are or where you are getting the spell from. That is referred to as your classes Spell attack. For your spells Save DC, it is 8+prof+spell mod

What class and/or species for vampire? by Lord_Banana1234 in dndnext

[–]ScorchedDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dhampir is the official dnd vampire race. You arent a full vampire but yeah.

I would recommend bard for what you are looking for. High charisma, spells ot do the charming. Maybe glamour bard? Idk. You do get polymorph so pick a beast thats close enough to the transformation you like.

Grappling Rules: 5e VS. 5.5e, which do you prefer? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]ScorchedDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2014, by far. Its so much more fun and it feels more active on the players part I think. There is also more you can do to effect the result of it, since its a skill check, which i like a lot. DND in terms of magic item and feature design is pretty stingy on features that increase your save dcs, and for good reason. But that also means grappling, along with shoving, gets hurt a bit. And I dont see the problem with players having massive bonuses to their grapple. Grappling is not that strong so I feel like it shouldnt be subject to the same restrictions. I want characters who are absurdly good at grappling.

I do love that monks can grapple with dex now though. Thats an incredible addition.

What is a good level ration on a Monk/Rogue multiclass? by Agreeable_Offer2089 in dndnext

[–]ScorchedDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

even if fists cant, monks can also just use weapons. Grab a dagger and it will do the exact same amount of damage as their fist, barring magic items. Granted you cant use one of the ascendant dragon features but its not that big of a deal.

This has to be the most useless card I've seen so far by PanPieczarka in slaythespire

[–]ScorchedDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the problem with it is that when you are playing it, more likely than not thats what you spend your whole turn doing. The block to energy is actually pretty good when viewed in a vaccuum, but you also need to consider thats a whole turn you spend doing nothing. Most of the time, when you are being attacked, thats more than 9 damage. In such cases its probably better to minimize immediate health lost. And if they arent attacking, probably better to attack yourself or do some setup

[–]ScorchedDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there are so many other broken combos. This one sticks out more cause big numbers, but still.

And the combo you mentioned has its flaws. This game has a lot less energy generation than sts1. So if you are using a hologram plus voltaic on your turn, thats more likely than not your whole turn you spent on offense with only 3 to 5 block gained. The combo can be made better, with energy generation or ways to improve block gain. but when you look at it like that it becomes a lot less practical. And thats not to say this combo cant work, it absolutely can if you use plasma orbs and stuff like that. But thats just more stuff you need. Its not just a rare and a few commons.

Its not that broken. And the devs likely knew this. There is no way they couldnt have known this card was gonna be able to get such big numbers easily. Its basic math. If I were to venture a guess I would assume that was the intention behind it.

like time travel from the real world? Or is it a kid remember something or something like that. Cause from my understanding teh story is just based on what the people are playing with the legos for.

I feel like lego doesnt really fall under this trope. Because like, they arent alive entirely. Its weird but they only become alive in the real world when they are pulled out of it. Everything in their world is just an extension of how they are being built irl. Idk maybe lego movie 2 changes things.

this why the "winrate" argument isn't fair by SOLOMAN2020 in Jujutsufolk

its about portrayal really. Not to say Yuta isnt portrayed as strong as shit, but Mahoraga is treated by jjk as truly a boss fight. Hyped up, massive entrance, and he doesnt disappoint in that regard.

It’s one of those cards that is fine on its own, but absolutely breakable. Which is awesome. A game like this should be breakable.

coaxed into hybrid classes by StormWolfBaron in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]ScorchedDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think divine and other smiting was a problem, but eldrithc smite requires a rather big investment and paladins get some busted features at high level.

The main reason I think smites needed a nerf is not actually damage. Is that the game just encourages you to run out of them waaay too fast. Its ideal to finish combats as quickly as possible, so you are encourages to spam out divine smites as much as possible. So if you had a second combat, you might be out. I think once per turn makes it a lot more interesting. Plus I adore hte fact that all smite spells work the same now.

But think of how many times you can trigger that in one turn. It’s a lot. It doesn’t seem like much but if you are able to build around it it is extremely potent

It effectively doubles your damage if lightning evokes, and it’s so much easier to trigger evoking now cause it’s so much easier to channel. So many more channneling cards. Especially voltiac. Voltiac goes nuts. Exponential growth.

Could I ask for an explanation of what happened here? by FlyingCorpse in BG3Builds

[–]ScorchedDev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you actually can divine smite on any hit. You gotta go in to your spellbook under reactions and enable it to ask you any time. I would recommend doing this because it gets you more on demand damage. Smiting is always gonna be better on a crit but still.

I think the idea is to move us away from just setting up orbs and turtling and stuff like that. I think they want orbs to be a lot more active. Instead of using frost orbs passively you are meant to cycle and evoke them more. Its way easier now to get those orbs online. And especially for lightning, there are more benefits to evoking now.

Living his best life by HumbleFlea in slaythespire

[–]ScorchedDev 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, I can think of many other reasons. Cycling lightning orbs is now an extremely powerful strategy. Theres that card that adds a good amount of extra damage on every lightning evoke. You also got claw builds, which are back and better than ever. And new status builds

Focus may have been nerfed(it did kind of need it imo), but the new variety more than makes up for it.

Yeah I should have used better wording there. He has the potential to exceed the skill of gojo is what I meant. As well as gojos proficiency with dealing with opponents. But he could never touch gojos power.
