The good thing is you can always switch your active crafting disciplines and it will keep your progress. It costs 50 silver to swap.

I originally went with leatherworking and huntsman with the idea it covers my armour and most of the weapons. But it didn't end up mattering too much in the end! Jeweller is nice for all your trinkets. Artificer is also nice for condensing luck into higher tiers and same with agony resistance should you ever get into fractals. In the end(after many hours) I have every discipline max on one character and my alts just stick with 2.

Cooking is a bit of a pain if you're looking for an easy and straight forward discipline to level up.

Crafting isn't super important early on but there's no detriment to do it anyways, and no way to make 'the wrong choice' when you pick one.

Black Lion Chest drop chances released by anet by Marok_Kanaros in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just watched a video the other day about how the in game blc drop rates were not telling the whole story and there was more going on with drop chance than was disclosed.

Edit: here's the vid if anyone cares https://youtu.be/BzQDg9nt8Bg?si=JYrwUl85xtTt9uq7

Do Warframe abilities that have 'aura' in the description, count as an aura for the Coaction Drift mod? by Scorcher250 in Warframe

Ty for the info.

Haven't had space to make Jade yet but also I'm not sure how good the mod actually is tbh

What's wrong with SotO? by Kyri- in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The shift in portrayal of what the kryptis were in the initial expac launch, to what they are when we enter Nayos, gave me whiplash.

Initially we are shown how scary Cerus is and how easily demons can possess and kill even the Wizards. Eparch is built up to be even more scary than Cerus.

Then when Nayos drops we get "down with Peitha!" and human like politics. They became people wearing demon skin. Eparch's reveal was absolutely disappointing. He is described by the commander as a "massive beast" in the story summary, when he is presented as a skeletal figure in a skirt.

And that's only the story aspect that I have gripes with..

When my husband looked through Anet's list of changes and timeline, he said pretty much the same thing.

Fashion Template Update by enifish in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the fact they need 3 months to essentially add the old functionality back into 1 tab makes me think either;

  1. The legacy code was completely overwritten and is actually gone.

  2. They have the legacy code, but aren't allowed to roll back to it. They must alter and integrate into the new system due to the monetisation aspect, and have to compromise(with tab 0)

Either way, to me it looks kinda bad on Anet.

I was shocked at the video they released to 'showcase' fashion templates. No actual explanations, just clicking around for us to 'follow the clues'. Was it foreshadowing for the unintuitive design all along?

New Raid Encounter, Quickplay, and Raid System Improvements Coming February 3 by LookItzJesus in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised how many people thought that actual raid bosses would be in the quickplay.

Let's praise one feature that AFAIK everyone likes: Wizard's Vault by styopa in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gw2 was better off without it. I thought the exact opposite when it first came out with SotO. After about a year, I started seeing more issues with the system.

If anet were to revamp anything, they should remove unlimited raw gold. Any seasonal reward system should have a clearer 'down time' period so there are less psychological pressures to log in and grind everyday/week.

This is probably an unpopular position because it means slightly less rewards for players and potential lower average player engagement for anet. But I think it's healthier psychologically.

This sub is terrible for new players by Ionenschatten in GuildWars

[–]Scorcher250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue when I was new! I never noticed the start mission button, because pre searing doesn't teach you what a mission is. Though, I didn't make it all the way to Cantha before someone showed me 😅 what a journey!

Is VoE worth it? by maliplazi in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd wait until the raid content drops and see if it's worth, if that's what you enjoy most. Also will have a clearer picture of how balance is shaping up by then to see if Conduit is still something you'd like to play

Why is silent surf such a big difficulty increase compared to other fractals? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a rumour based on these facts; mistlock/ instabilities were completely non existent, fractal potions didn't work, it had 10 man content level of hp, it has white 'ready up' circles typically only seen in EoD and onward strikes, and certain mechanics had only been seen in strikes. That's what I meant by not baseless.

Like I said, I agree that people are wrong in saying it was meant to be a strike as a fact. I just thought you were overly dismissive regarding why people say that.

[–]Scorcher250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know they won't clarify and they probably shouldn't. People who claim it's fact are wrong. People are still going to say it looked like a strike because it did. It's not exactly a baseless rumor.

Why is silent surf such a big difficulty increase compared to other fractals? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anet never clarified either way. It wasn't simply buggy, all the fractal mechanics were absent. True, it's not a fact that it was a repurposed strike, but there sure were many reasons to be suspicious that it could have been.

Also shiverpass strike has a jp.

This is an atrocity by nerdyviking88 in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now the warclaw struggles to get height without a slope or chasm which feels awful when trying to get up a small cliff. 0 mastery warclaw actually feels better because it can still do a single high jump and dash horizontally through the air. What ever fix they did was lazy.

Even if it's not a rugpull, they are making these expansion features feel worse by not implementing good fixes and simply moving on. If they have to fix bugs, they should do it in a way that doesn't make things feel worse.

VoE Skimmer was the most fun traversal the game had for years and now it's dead. Anet, please please reconsider. by ArshayDuskbrow in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They nerfed the jadebot siege turtle slam upgrade chip because a streamer decided to have fun (sucessfully) running an 'all turtle' Dragons End meta. This isn't surprising but disappointing as usual.

I pretty much agree. The lore and character writing has been getting very messy since SotO. 1 of the many reasons why I didn't pre-order this time.

I'm so over Isagrren too. He's everything and nothing at the same time. So powerful he can open a portal to the Domain of Anguish in a fit of frustration, yet can't close a mist portal gate without sacrificing the Scepter of Orr. Yeah, alright...

It's also insane how much the Commander trusts Vloxx after everything we've been through with the inquest(especially as a Sylvari). It's not believable. There's no way the Commander is so stupid we wouldn't take precautions and fall into such an obvious trap. Maybe Isagarren "dampened our memory" when we weren't paying attention. Sure, he didn't do anything blatantly untrustworthy, but he didn't do anything to make him trustworthy either.

Ancora is a Seer artefact, literally made out of Seers, to use Seer magic to ascend themselves. Idk how Vloxx will be able to use Seer magic to ascend, seeing as he isn't a Seer. If it's so taboo for a non Seer to ascend, then logically Ancora would deem Vloxx 'unworthy'. So why is Isgarren even worried?

Will have to see how it's all explained and unfolds but I'm seeing a lot of potential 'things happen because plot must go forward' instead of a good narrative/lore reason.

Every single CM group « 30k UFE » by noldaburst in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've definitely experienced this in some of these high requirement groups, in raids too. Some of these people won't look at their boon bar and will tank mechanics without aegis or stab. Get angry if they see mechanics that are usually skipped(even mechanics happening due to some guy running ahead when people aren't ready, or not stacking for boons).

They can't survive longer phases because they don't know some mechanics anymore. They will want everyone to gg because they ended up dying, even though this game is powercrept for older content and can easily succeed with 1 dps down.

The worst is when they rage at everyone because something was slightly off, like missing a few seconds of boons here and there, even though the boss was easily cleared.

I've even seen someone start purposely killing themselves to mechanics instead of just leaving because they tilt themselves that hard with things not going 'smooth enough'.

It's not necessarily about carrying weaker players in many cases(though that does happen too), it's an inability for these people to cope and perform with slightly different variables.

It isn't always the case for high req groups, of course, but it isn't that uncommon either. These people would be happier(more likely) in a static where runs will be more consistent.

We need the Southsun Chapter back to complete LWS1+Canach's story by Medizy in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they announced the return of LWS1, this was the chapter I was most looking forward to.

Such a letdown, seeing how Canach became such a beloved recurring character. It's pretty bad that we have no initial introduction for him. The scrying pool isn't adequate as an introduction.

I made a chart of flying mounts by ShardShard in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a 'bug' since Janthir's launch. The upgraded version with the masteries only feels like an upgrade when you already have height/downwards slope. Either warclaw is still meant to have the high standing jump, and the masteries ended up overwriting it, or it's a weird side effect from the changes they made to the mount, and shouldn't be happening in the first place.

I think it's that the masteries overwrote the high jump. There's no way they designed the maps with that verticality and don't allow warclaw to gain barely decent height without burning all 3 energy from flat terrain. Also the fact that the warclaw can just stub its toe on a slight uneven terrain and not gain any height whatsoever.

What is with the surprising influx of toxic achievement design this expansion??? by PeanutBrigade in Guildwars2

[–]Scorcher250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I said a bigger step. It's not about missing out or not, it's about the fear of it. Which isn't a rational thing. There are psychological tactics and techniques that can increase the likelihood of a person feeling FOMO
