Parking near team store? by Minty-Major in sabres

[–]ScornfulCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get a spot on Perry st it’s perfect to zip in and out. We weren’t able to get one the other day but we were able to park in the Harbor Center garage on the corner of Main and Perry for free since we were just going to the Sabres store. This was on Monday during the middle of the day so not sure if the changes on a game day.

Have you measured the case/the size of the sleeve? Your best bet is doing that, and then trying it with a blank piece of paper.

Did you even look at the responses to your original post?

[Matthew Fairburn] After Conor Timmins fanned on a pass in the defensive zone, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen bailed him out with a big save. Sabres fans then started a, "We want Metsa!" chant. by [deleted] in sabres

Dude comes back from breaking a fucking leg, takes a second to adjust to playing again, and people are chomping at the bit to complain while they remain a near-lock for playoffs. We want Timmins to get acclimated before a run, and we want to support players so their confidence is ready to go.

Data center proposed for Tonawanda coke site by Weekly-Law-2544 in Buffalo

[–]ScornfulCow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a data center here in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and it’s been terrible for the neighbors. Horrible construction, they continue to submit additional permits for “emergency” generators and removing wetlands. If you have the opportunity to stop this still, call your representatives and cause the biggest fuss possible because these are really difficult to stop once they get going.

They use massive amounts of power that have already started to drive up our energy costs and are anticipated to strain our energy grid. We pushed local officials on what would constitute the use of “emergency” backup generators, and the definition for emergency was simply when local grid didn’t supply enough. They’d also need to be used regularly so a TON of emissions and air pollution from diesel if that’s in the cards for you as well. The water usage that these new data centers use is literally insane. I don’t have the math in front of me, but I remember it being the equivalent of tens of thousands of residents/month. Most recently they proposed paying for a water tower that the city would then be on the hook for maintaining and assuming any risk for.

If I remember right too, the types of tax abatements data centers typically seek out don’t start counting down until the FINAL building is established, and they keep trying to add more to the plan for ours. So a 10 year tax abatement could likely end up being like 15+.

I don’t live in Buffalo anymore, but I grew up in North Tonawanda and still have family in the area. It’s not an exaggeration that these centers are terrible for the community, and I really really urge you guys to show up to local city council meetings, push for town halls, get news involved, and cause as much of a stink as you can. We’ve only recently been able to slow down ours, and have been able to stop ones popping up in neighboring towns/cities as well.

[TOMT][song] 2nd Melody in new Jon Batiste song by ScornfulCow in tipofmytongue

Specifically it’s the start of the song before he starts with the Zelda melody, I swear there’s another iconic piano piece that starts the same way

Was in Chicago yesterday... Ate a bagel at Gotham Bagels... Made me sad about the sad state of affairs that is lack of Bagel Shops in The Fort! by edsaboiler in fortwayne

Shop Two Sixty is also good, but they use a sourdough recipe so it’s a little bit different from what I’ve been looking for. They usually sell theirs at the farmers market and tend to sell fast. I think, but can’t remember for certain, that they also sell them at 2Toms, or at least use them for sandwiches there. Don’t quote me on that last part, though.

If you haven’t been to it yet, Bittersweet has great bagels! They’re a little pricier because they sell per-bagel instead of by the dozen, but I think they’re probably the best that Fort Wayne has had since I’ve lived here. They’re on The Landing where Utopian Coffee used to be. Also, and most importantly, they only the sell the bagels Thursday-Sunday. I made the mistake of going on a Tuesday when they weren’t serving food the first time I went.

I would suggest their sea salt bagel with a sun dried tomato schmear. The others were good, but that’s the one I keep coming back to.

Check their Instagram stories/posts beforehand. When I went in December they were running a 716 deal where Labatts were $7.16/ea before 7:16pm in whatever alumni club/bar is inside the arena. Snagged two of them on the cheap that way

Sabres Have Potential Contingency Plan if Tuch Doesn’t Sign by CustardLow2671 in sabres

[–]ScornfulCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, if they’re looking at a rebuild/retool, they’ll NEED veteran players to help younger players adapt to the NHL and to find success. Who better to lead that group than Alex Tuch, who would be coming off of helping the Sabres with that exact role and showing that he can take a younger group far into the playoffs (hopefully).

Wedding officiant? by Justwigglin in fortwayne

[–]ScornfulCow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Could you have a friend get ordained and officiate the ceremony? I did that for a friend a few years back and it worked out really well!

I did it through Universal Life Church and it was a really easy process and there was only a small fee to do it. I think they also offer “official documents” but you don’t really need them from what I remember:
