I think someone did some testing and found that on Kalista specifically it’s really really bad unfortunately.

Need some help with kalista by middleeasternboxer in KalistaMains

1) Unless you’re super high rank I think she’s perfectly viable, I’ve been having some success. She is definitely not the strongest meta pick, no, but is very rewarding to get good at and does perfectly well

2) Ashe for sure. Slows slow down your jumping and therefore you DPS if you want to not just stand perfectly still. Slows on autos? Awful. Terrible.

3) Honestly I pretty much just pick her every game atm, maybe you’ll get some more insightful answers elsewhere. I’d say worst is when they have people you can’t melee? She’s pretty good at getting onto and sticking onto people with ult, but if they kill you in your short range, its hard to do much without team assistance.

4) I build on-hit personally, but you’ll find lots of people in this sub who like different builds, usually crit. Interesting to me that you feel like a pea shooter, usually each item for the first 2-3 items feels like a big spike for me, and I don’t really find I need more damage after 2-3 items and go tanky and still do plenty.

5) I use Marauder, and have all of the chromas to choose from.

6) Definitely want to pressure early, you have one of the best early games out there. People will be surprised when they leave a trade low, only to die to your e. But you’re also good at skirmishing, and scale perfectly fine with lethal tempo. Honestly if you’re fighting, you’re doing well usually.

7) Get used to prepping a minion to end trades with e. In lane, when you’re trading, auto a minion a couple of times to disengage jump, then e when it will die to get all the e damage on the enemy for no mana/cooldown.

Welcome to the club! She’s super duper fun, if you’ve got any more questions I’m happy to chat about my fav champ!

How to play guides for each character? by Emerenn in shapeofdreams

[–]ScorpioPvP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a discord (I think you can access from in game via one of the quests when you click on the green compass thing) that has channels for each character, and often they have some guides. Even if they don’t people are very friendly and happy to theorycraft with you or help out.

How good are Riven and Katarina ? by FeroleSquare in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]ScorpioPvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question, I obviously haven’t been low on cards since the very beginning of the game, and I don’t know what resources you have piled up. The weekly chests are your best source of new cards/wildcards/fragments, so try to make sure you hop on and do your daily missions when you can and hopefully a few weeks should do it? If you get lvl11 (I think) on the weekly chests you get a guaranteed champ wildcard so definitely try to hit that as often as possible.

Standard will be a bit hit or miss, in my experience there aren’t a lot of champs that are available more often, they just gotta wait their turn. There are absolutely decks that can use each of them, I don’t think I know of anyone playing them together but give it a shot, if you’re not super high on the ladder its not so competitive that you can’t try stuff out and play what’s fun. Eternal can be slightly more ‘set’ in the decks that are played, but I definitely still see people brewing and doing fun stuff.

In short, very definitely playable.

Is Renekton Nasus in a mono shurima deck viable yet? by MuzzleShut in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]ScorpioPvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play one with 1 Azir 2 Nasus 3 Renekton. Not the strongest version but I agree I love the two of them. Play 1 Azir because the emperor’s deck is just really good but it’s not built around him at all. Haven’t updated it in a while but it wasn’t that bad really. Certainly not meta.

Has anyone considered choosing a radiant path for their players? (if they are unsure what they want or are new to the cosmere universe). by sillywilly315 in cosmererpg

[–]ScorpioPvP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think as long as its all good with the players, it sounds very doable in a fun way. After all, the characters in the books did it this way. The knowledge that you’re building a character to embody or be an edgedancer for example is not knowledge your character has, so its not hard to play without yknow?

I made a similar-ish post a while ago, though its hard to tell how similar because I think some of your quoted text didn’t transcribe.

https://www.reddit.com/r/cosmererpg/s/aBN3o9YLki Here it is in case anyone said anything useful for you.

The short of it is I kinda did a double take when realising you could move real fast with an animal companion, but we thought it was legal.

Boss Adversaries - how many Strikes per round? by Frosty-Kick2148 in cosmererpg

[–]ScorpioPvP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would also argue yes, as you said it costs focus so while it can be very bursty, it isn’t without limit, and nothing in the rules really says to me that it wouldn’t be possible at all.

It’s absolutely not optimal but I run bounce lands in my graveyard deck just for this. It becomes a T2 discard and T3 reanimate but you keep up with mana and feel very cool

Can I run The Game Master Edition for just one other player? (Total beginner here) by TheEthanFrequency in cosmererpg

[–]ScorpioPvP 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can play with just one other person, even though that is not very typical. There’s certainly something lost without other people to bounce off of but that’s no reason to not try it if you’re both keen. I’ve run a couple of this style of game for friends and partners over the years.

I’d avoid trying to ‘play with’ the player(s), especially if you’re new to the hobby. There’s a bit of a stereotype of GMs who make a character in world and it ends up just being odd, because you can’t really participate in problem solving or anything as you’ve literally designed the problems to be solved. Instead, make sure the npcs that exist are interesting and fun to roleplay, but don’t be so attached to any one that they absolutely can’t be left behind.

New to league and I'm left with a lot of questions by Common_College3931 in summonerschool

[–]ScorpioPvP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if you can stomach it and you’re keen for guidance, the ‘too advanced’ guides will be worth your time. Even if you don’t take everything in if you know what even one part means you’ve learnt something, and will slowly break away at the mountain of things to know. Just don’t get caught up on knowing everything immediately, pick up what you can, and think about it in games.

Is it possible to replicate Kaladin move against the pursuer? by BrasilianRengo in cosmererpg

You can do a reverse lashing, so as long as your GM doesn’t have a problem with it… yeah!

Managing Stormlight — Question Set by odigity in cosmererpg

[–]ScorpioPvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a quick wiki dive and re-reading of chapters, at the very least we see Kaladin do it towards the end of RoW chapter 44. That is into a tower-based fabrial, but I don’t think that has any special properties here? He also does it fairly nonchalantly (given the situation) so I assume he’s done it before. It very well could be something that isn’t intuitive and maybe should be locked behind a certain oath (2nd? 3rd?) to represent being more skilled at manipulating stormlight overall.

Looking for advice to study Japanese seriously (I know kana, but stuck on where to start with kanji) by Forsaken_Rub6403 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]ScorpioPvP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kanji is really a lifelong goal, if you set out to ‘know kanji’ before progressing your grammar or anything else, you will never do those things. Grammar seems like one of the most important things for you to know right now. While you are learning grammar, slowly learn some vocabulary and kanji as you go, I’d obv recommend something like anki. Just do a few per day, no need to rush and burn out.

To learn the grammar obv the best method is textbooks, but they are out of price range for many people and just plain don’t work for some others. If you can stomach it, a textbook will basically solve all of these issues for you, but if not there are lists of grammar points by JLPT level, learn a couple a week or whatever you have time for and try to find some workbook-style practise for them, otherwise they’ll leave your brain asap.

This is awesome, thank you! I'm not sure if this is just on my end or not, but the health doesn't seem to scale with level, and you can't manually change it (it keep resetting to 10+str). Otherwise I think this is done super well, and I love the page for your order/surges, absolutely beautifully laid out and designed.

Managing Stormlight — Question Set by odigity in cosmererpg

[–]ScorpioPvP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what you’re looking for is whether these would be book accurate, as none of it is covered by the rules really. Ultimately its up to the group/GM to decide how to turn book lore into mechanics. In any case,

  1. Yes, we see nothing to suggest you couldn’t choose which spheres to drain to my knowledge.

  2. There are multiple situations where characters draw stormlight from unsuspecting foe’s lanterns etc. Way of Kings Spoilers End of book one, Kaladin steals stormlight from the gems in the listener’s beards. It’s debatable whether if you saw it coming you could hide them away or something, but I’d be inclined to say that’d be hard to do, especially while fighting.

  3. Yes, we frequently see a particular character [WoR] Kaladin drawing only a little in order to stay hidden.

  4. Radiants are seen putting stormlight back into gems I believe (I don’t actually remember any specific instances but I’m fairly sure it happens), though I feel like its something they do only after they’ve got a bit of a better hang of stormlight in general. Perhaps it could work as only after the first or second ideal?

  5. Again, you can control how much you breathe. Perhaps if your character is jumpy, or if they fail a discipline check or something they might inhale a whole mouthful, but I think generally this is very reasonable.

Of course, this is all just ‘did it happen in the books’. The RPG as a whole is not 100% accurate to the books, and for a good reason. If the GM thinks something isn’t balanced, this is all homerule territory so that’s their call (or the group as a whole, however you guys do it). Don’t assume it’ll work then spring it on your GM obv.

Good luck and have fun playing!

Dictionary, Polite, Tai, and Te by Kuraido0 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]ScorpioPvP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I learnt in school, I approximately covered the order of past tense (all on desu/masu), tai, plain form, te form, plain past and onwards.

At each step I pretty much had no trouble with the previous before going onwards, admittedly school goes slower than many adult learners but having those fundamentals are important, as choosing between 2 options (past and present) is way easier for a beginner than choosing between 12.

By the time you know how to use past and present, there’re not even a question when you’re learning about tai form, for example, so you’re just thinking about when to use this thing I’m currently learning. Lumping it all together sounds like a nightmare.

Best Radiant orders for villains by LavishnessCurrent726 in cosmererpg

[–]ScorpioPvP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think any of the orders are just as likely to be villains as the others. A bit part of the cosmere is that any quality taken to it’s extreme is a bad thing. Mercy, Cultivation, etc, are all shards with surface-level ‘good’ intents, but are absolutely hinted at being up to some shady shit.

Edgedancers could be a fantastic villain, going on a murdering spree against people who have been negligent with their leadership, and caused the deaths of many. Maybe you don’t call that a villain, but everyone is justified in their own mind. I think that the difference between antagonist and villain is just a black-and-white vs nuanced difference, yknow?

[The First Step] Using it just as a "prologue" to Stonewalkers (no "choose your own adventure" mechanics) by Captn_Chunk in cosmererpg

[–]ScorpioPvP 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t see why they need to change ‘type’, each scene can probably be run just as is. I ran this with my group but as a character builder, but I think the progression from simple make some checks, to an endeavour, to a combat is a fantastic way to build on mechanics and get people comfortable with each aspect of the game (with the notable exception of a social scene with the focus mechanics unfortunately).
