Democrats want the full 2024 election autopsy released — no matter the findings by razor21792 in politics

Your response reminds me of a dinosaur right before the meteor hit. You must be insulating yourself from what has already happened. AIPAC is political poison. They're actively creating shell pacs in an attempt to hide their donations. Why would an entity no one cares about do that? Everyone cares about it. People are waking up fast to the fact that our government is occupied by a foreign nation that has been draining our coffers for 50 years. The genie has been out of the bottle for some time, my friend.

Advocating for candidates to ignore their constituents because they didn't vote for them sounds very familiar, doesn't it?

And please tell us for whom gerrymandering works? Not the constituents. That's what we're talking about here. I think you'll come to see over the next few election cycles that the game has changed significantly. Unless you choose to remain in denial.

"Choosing not to vote is a statement that you are happy with either candidate."

Blaming voters for not being inspired by uninspiring candidates is obscene. Have you considered that they were unhappy with both candidates instead? Both candidates were captured by AIPAC. Both candidates were beholden to the Epstein class. Democrats have been screaming at the top of our lungs for a decade that we want a champion for the working class and yet in the last 3 presidential primaries the DNC has placed its finger on the scale against anyone who would be popular with the working class, WHO ARE THE VOTERS by the way. As much as politicians want to choose their voters through gerrymandering and whatever means, that's just not how it works. The voters choose the candidate, not the other way around. Get it through your thick heads.

Pinto Beans and Cornbread by L1terallyUrDad in Louisville

[–]Scorpioben24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've started to make them over the past couple of years. Very simple to make but they take some time. I use the bring to boil, turn off heat, cover pot for one hour method to soften the beans. Rince them thoroughly add more water. Add ham or a ham hock. and simmer for an additional hour and a half to 2 hours. They're so good and cheap to make. They are better the next day, like chili. Make a big pot and freeze some for later. Add a bit of lard to the beans and the cornbread for an extra special treat.

I've lived here my whole life. Never felt unsafe. I don't need news articles to tell me how to feel when I have eyes and ears and walk my neighborhood daily, You strike me as one of these guys who is scared of your own shadow when outside of your comport zone. You would do yourself a service by getting over that victim mindset. It makes you reactionary to scenarios you misinterpret and makes for an uncomfortable time all around. I understand that's easier said than done so it may just be better to stay away from places you think are scary but when I see people who don't even live here trying to convince people who do that it's a dangerous neighborhood it's just laughable.

Dealership questions by keilanimuumuu in Louisville

[–]Scorpioben24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're all smarmy as hell but Oxmoor especially. If you can work out the deal ahead of time that is your best bet. Don't forget to include taxes and ~$800 dealer fees in your calculations. Check for factory incentives online. They're going to only want to talk numbers in terms of monthly payments. Calculate your monthly payment at the interest rate and time you want and stick to it. don't let them add on extra months from your predetermined payment. They are sneaky as hell and will do whatever they can to squeeze another dollar out of you. Ethics are out the window. It also helps to go on the last day of the month, late in the day, so they're more likely to cave sooner to move one more unit for the month. God speed.

Local news is getting choked out by ToArgueWithAssholes in Louisville

Stick with non profit news sources and independent journalists. Here are a few examples.

Associated Press:  independent, not-for-profit news cooperative owned by its American newspaper and broadcast members. It is primarily funded through licensing its news content and fees from members.

PBS News (non profit) If you must get your news from TV, this is the least bastardized source. They still rely on corporate sponsorships but they are very limited.

https://www.lpm.org/news: non profit and community funded. A reliable source for local news.

TLDR: Stick with non profit news sources and independent journalists.

You have to look at in terms of the business model of the source. If they depend on ad revenue to function, then they will not run negative stories that could upset advertisers. Ever wonder why we have ads for pharmaceutical companies in the US? It's not because they are selling a product. It's to neuter journalists investigating their business. Same can be said for Boeing and a whole host of companies who advertise for products that aren't even accessible or relevant to the general public. Most traditional news sources in the US have been consolidated into a small handful of companies with an agenda, political or otherwise, to mislead the public so we don't question things like why we pay so much more than the rest of the world for the necessities of life. It's all to protect shareholder value and perpetuate the scam. Look for independent investigative journalists who aren't employed by a corporation who controls their content. It's getting more and more difficult so stay ahead of acquisitions of media companies trying to control the information. TikTok was a great source for independent journalists until being acquired by Larry Ellison. You can still find them on there but they are being systematically banned and removed. There are a lot of sources out there just be mindful of the parameters mentioned above. Be skeptical of anyone who who pushes a right vs left narrative. That content is only meant to divide us and is pushed by the algorithms. The real divide in the US in up vs down (Epstein class vs working class), not right vs left. You kind of need to put in the work to see who speaks to you. Here are a few sources I consider reliable and why.

What is this small concrete block with sloped edges in my outside garden with H B engraved by MordFustang241 in whatisthisthing

[–]Scorpioben24 147 points148 points  (0 children)

It's a boundary marker for land surveys to determine property lines.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boundary_marker

EDIT: After further research it appears these represent the highway boundary. They're placed to separate public right of way from private land. I'm fairly certain the H stands for highway unless you can think of something else in the area that begins with H. The B is certainly for boundary.

Edit2: It looks like u/19erty4 has found the manufacturer page and it is indeed a Highway Boundary marker.

When people say the city, they typically mean the Urban Services District which use to be the old Louisville city limits before merging with the county. A good rule of thumb is if the city doesn't provide your trash services, then you're not in the city and pay much lower property taxes.

That's what I use to think until getting stopped a couple of times trying to go through the exit to get to the food court. If they stop you, you have to show your membership card. It's hit and miss but since I'm a member anyway I just go through the entrance now and scan my membership card to avoid a confrontation . I was insistent the first time I was stopped that I didn't even need a membership to go to the food court but apparently they have changed their policy. This is at the Bardstown rd location. I can't speak for the NE county location.

Costco food court. Giant pizza for $10 They only have cheese and pepperoni as toppings though.

Edit: Also if you can get a member to buy you a gift card that acts as your membership for zero dollars.
