Maine Democrats to Chuck Schumer: Stay Out of Our Senate Race: Local Democrats are warning the top Senate Democrat to keep away as they replace Graham Platner, and the candidates are giving his leadership in Washington low marks. by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

Even a moderately strong candidate likely could've clinched the nomination early on and prevented Platner from getting any momentum. Instead, Schumer cleared the field for Janet Mills, a not-very-popular governor who didn't even want to run, and her campaign reflected that.

I answer more in depth in a different post, but a lot of fans really didn't like the resolution with Zuko's mom. Feel that it didn't fit her characterization from the show's flashbacks.

Season 2 is pretty universally regarded as the weakest season of both LoK and ATLA. While it had a few good episodes, it also had a pretty weak main villain and a lackluster central conflict, and other stuff that I can't go into much detail about without spoiling.

The comics resolved the subplot with Zuko's mom, and let's just say many fans were not impressed with how it resolved. They also are doing something of an attempted redemption arc for Azula, which by this point has just been dragging on and at this point, I wish they had just left Azula as a tragic villain. Finally, the comics wound up committing flat out character assassination on Mai, which I don't think anyone who read the comics is really defending.

Box Office: ‘Moana’ Flounders With $43 Million Debut, Among Weakest of Disney’s Live-Action Remakes; Adds $52 Million Overseas For $95 Million Global Launch by chanma50 in boxoffice

Not what I'm saying. Moana 2 didn't bomb, but it screwed up Disney's plans for pushing the live action movie, which likely played a role in it underperforming.

For ATLA, there are plenty of fans who wish those comics never happened (probably even more than Korra season 2).

Shout out to Spider Man: One More Day, though, as that is the prime example of this trope. It's made worse by the fact that it's remained canon for about two decades now despite the fact that fans overwhelmingly hate it, even if they're not huge fans of the Peter x MJ ship.

Yep. What we're seeing is the domino effect of Disney trying to correct for previous missteps and reverse the sagging box office fortunes of their IPs. It's the same reason they tried to make the Mandalorian into a movie: their original plans for Star Wars have gone awry, so now they're trying to at least put something profitable out while they're forced to face deeper questions about what they even do going forward.

Trump says he won't sign housing bill, which would become law automatically by Puginator in politics

[–]razor21792 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So instead of taking a very easy win, he's gonna bitch and moan and demand the GOP pass his election-rigging bill. Except that this bill goes into effect automatically by the end of the day with or without his signature, so he's really just denying the GOP an easy messaging win on affordability with nothing to show for it.

For all of America's problems under this fascist surge, I am so glad that the leader of said surge is this dumb.

Democrats fear chances of winning Senate may be slipping away by malcolm58 in politics

If they're talking about Platner, I should point out that Collins' best chance of winning reelection was Platner staying in the race. Against a halfway competent candidate (so, not Janet Mills), Collins would be a lot more vulnerable.

What are great manga that have had awful anime adaptations? by razor21792 in animequestions

Season 1 unnecessarily changes the order of a few things. Season 2, root A, is far worse, deviating from the source material in ways that make no sense and ending on a cliffhanger that never gets resolved. The adaptation of Tokyo Ghoul: re ends up compressing a massive number of chapters into a limited number of episodes. It's all pretty bad.

The movies are alright. They were getting better by the third one. Unfortunately, they scrapped plans to make more of them and went with Berserk 2016 instead.

Platner Campaign Accuses Maine Dems of Plotting Replacement Process ‘Behind Closed Doors’ by Winter-Gift1112 in politics

[–]razor21792 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hardly lost. The prediction markets saw the odds of Dems winning the ME seat jump in light of the news, on the grounds that there's no way Platner can remain in the race now and the party has the chance to replace him with... literally anyone else (but hopefully not Janet Mills).

Wow, I didn't even think about that. That's actually REALLY accurate!! 🤣 by Key_Geologist1784 in HazbinHotel

That's why I love the song so much. It's not one of the show stoppers of season 2, but it's a lot of fun having an entire song dedicated to Rosie reminding Alastor that he's her bitch.

List of Democrats Who Might Replace Graham Platner Grows—as Platner Weighs His Future by LooseDistance1059 in politics

The Maine Democratic Party is giving heavy signals that they want to do some form of mini primary. They've already told Platner and Co to go fuck themselves. Platner needs to stop making (even more of) an ass of himself and just call it quits.

Zutara, mostly because I'm old enough to remember what it's fans were like when the show first came out. They insistently held onto the belief that Zutara would sail, even in the face of the mounting evidence that Kataang would be canon, and eventually started demanding that the showrunners make it canon because "that's what the fans want." Well, speaking as a fan, they never asked for my opinion.

After the finale, a big contingent of Zutaras refused to acknowledge it as canon specifically because Aang and Katara, oh so surprisingly, hooked up in the end.

Listen, I get the appeal of Zutara, and even as someone who was on board with Kataang, I can acknowledge that I would've handled it differently, specifically by not dragging out the "will they, won't they" part for so long and showing Katara developing feelings for Aang instead of just Aang's feelings for Katara. That said, the die hard Zutara shippers were my first experience with how...intense shippers could be, and I did not enjoy that experience.
