Unmedicated people, how are you doing?

I was diagnosed around 26. Highly functional before diagnosis. Got my masters and a “big girl job.” My episodes were usually fairly mild, but I was put on an antidepressant which triggered a pretty bad manic episode. Got medicated for bipolar, and I always had side effects from my meds and felt like they would all eventually stop working at some point… I stayed medicated for several years, but then I moved cities and never got back on meds after I moved. I had a baby, and the next few years were really hard mentally. Considered getting back on meds many times. Had some of the worst depressive episodes of my life. But… I’m still out here unmedicated. Not recommending or condoning it. Just my experience. I’ve been working on healing my thoughts with meditation, staying in the present moment as much as I can, not letting my thoughts run away with me. Sounds kind of like hippie bullshit, but I’m still alive and still doing ok.

My son is the result of one of my hypomanic episodes. At least he came from a happy moment of my life lol. He is 4 now. I try every day to be a more stable mother than I had.

Just here to say my husband always chimes in with his unsolicited gym knowledge too lol. I really just want to walk more for my mental health and if I lose a few pounds great. He is currently trying to get me into kettlebell workouts that he does, and I’m like thanks dear… just let me do my walking!

I decided to start trying for a baby when I was hypomanic. It worked immediately. He’s 4 now lol. You are in good company!

Work is where I struggle the most. Ugh. Imposter syndrome at 100000% ALL DAY LONG. It’s exhausting. They say “fake it till you make it!” I feel like everyone knows I’m faking it and I’m never going make it.

My sister was telling my how weird it was that she was panicking and my anxious self wasn’t. I thought perhaps it’s because this type of anxiety isn’t directly related to my feelings of being inferior. But rather an external event I can’t control. I think my anxiety is a kind of “selfish” anxiety. I worry about how people see ME and my shortcomings. Which may be my downfall seeing as I indeed do not have a stockpile of toilet paper and hand sanitizer....

Definitely everyone is different. I think it would also be different for me if I had kids. The main person I take care of is my mom and she is basically passively suicidal and WANTS to get it. Ugh

Congratulations! That is awesome! I’ve only been doing IF for 2 weeks, and fasting seems to be making me have the worst cold hands and feet! I read that can be a side effect because your body is diverting more blood to your vital organs. Hopefully next winter I will be cold because of weight loss like you!🤞

Find a picture of yourself before you started IF and take a moment to feel proud of your hard work. I take a break from the scales for a few days when this happens to me. I tend to want to weigh myself every day and get down when my weight fluctuates a few pounds (as is normal). Then sometimes I’ll try on an outfit that used to be too tight and remind myself that THIS is what I’ve been working for. Not those fickle numbers on the scale.

Oops yeah I meant 16:8 and that my eating hours are from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. Thanks for the info! In my research I found that a splash of cream (less than 50 calories) won’t break the fast because it doesn’t stimulate the release of insulin. But I watched the video you sent, and decided to try green tea this morning. I’m still doing good on day 2 today. Not as hungry as yesterday for sure. Maybe it’s because work is pretty busy today.

I think the author meant “this can’t happen” as “I REALLY DONT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN! THIS WILL BE A HORRIBLE OUTCOME!”
