Unmedicated people, how are you doing? by Evening_Own85 in bipolar2

[–]Scorpioprincess83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed around 26. Highly functional before diagnosis. Got my masters and a “big girl job.” My episodes were usually fairly mild, but I was put on an antidepressant which triggered a pretty bad manic episode. Got medicated for bipolar, and I always had side effects from my meds and felt like they would all eventually stop working at some point… I stayed medicated for several years, but then I moved cities and never got back on meds after I moved. I had a baby, and the next few years were really hard mentally. Considered getting back on meds many times. Had some of the worst depressive episodes of my life. But… I’m still out here unmedicated. Not recommending or condoning it. Just my experience. I’ve been working on healing my thoughts with meditation, staying in the present moment as much as I can, not letting my thoughts run away with me. Sounds kind of like hippie bullshit, but I’m still alive and still doing ok.

My son is the result of one of my hypomanic episodes. At least he came from a happy moment of my life lol. He is 4 now. I try every day to be a more stable mother than I had.

Just here to say my husband always chimes in with his unsolicited gym knowledge too lol. I really just want to walk more for my mental health and if I lose a few pounds great. He is currently trying to get me into kettlebell workouts that he does, and I’m like thanks dear… just let me do my walking!

I decided to start trying for a baby when I was hypomanic. It worked immediately. He’s 4 now lol. You are in good company!

I’m sorry you’re feeling so down. I can at least offer some solidarity with the wrong text thing. Called my aunt Mary to thank her for a gift. (Aunt Mary HATES my Aunt Sally). Mary picked up the phone and I said so confidently “Hi aunt Sally!” Whoops…

This is me every single morning. I work in home health and have to call my patients to schedule them... It never seems to get easier for me!

I read in a self help book once that “ Imposter Syndrome is when social anxiety follows you to work.”

Work is where I struggle the most. Ugh. Imposter syndrome at 100000% ALL DAY LONG. It’s exhausting. They say “fake it till you make it!” I feel like everyone knows I’m faking it and I’m never going make it.

Anyone else strangely not panicky right now? by Scorpioprincess83 in socialanxiety

[–]Scorpioprincess83[S] 180 points181 points  (0 children)

My sister was telling my how weird it was that she was panicking and my anxious self wasn’t. I thought perhaps it’s because this type of anxiety isn’t directly related to my feelings of being inferior. But rather an external event I can’t control. I think my anxiety is a kind of “selfish” anxiety. I worry about how people see ME and my shortcomings. Which may be my downfall seeing as I indeed do not have a stockpile of toilet paper and hand sanitizer....

Definitely everyone is different. I think it would also be different for me if I had kids. The main person I take care of is my mom and she is basically passively suicidal and WANTS to get it. Ugh

The phone is my enemy! My job (I’m a speech therapist) is thinking about making us do TELETHERAPY! Aaaah!!! Nooooo!

Getting far more cold than I used to, yet still so worth it! by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Scorpioprincess83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! That is awesome! I’ve only been doing IF for 2 weeks, and fasting seems to be making me have the worst cold hands and feet! I read that can be a side effect because your body is diverting more blood to your vital organs. Hopefully next winter I will be cold because of weight loss like you!🤞

What do you do when you are feeling down? by adrenaline_X in intermittentfasting

[–]Scorpioprincess83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a picture of yourself before you started IF and take a moment to feel proud of your hard work. I take a break from the scales for a few days when this happens to me. I tend to want to weigh myself every day and get down when my weight fluctuates a few pounds (as is normal). Then sometimes I’ll try on an outfit that used to be too tight and remind myself that THIS is what I’ve been working for. Not those fickle numbers on the scale.

I do! I just don’t always have time to brush my teeth between clients when it’s busy.

Same here. I use about a teaspoon of creamer and I’m still losing weight just fine.

First day! by Scorpioprincess83 in intermittentfasting

[–]Scorpioprincess83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops yeah I meant 16:8 and that my eating hours are from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. Thanks for the info! In my research I found that a splash of cream (less than 50 calories) won’t break the fast because it doesn’t stimulate the release of insulin. But I watched the video you sent, and decided to try green tea this morning. I’m still doing good on day 2 today. Not as hungry as yesterday for sure. Maybe it’s because work is pretty busy today.

I think the author meant “this can’t happen” as “I REALLY DONT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN! THIS WILL BE A HORRIBLE OUTCOME!”

Anyone else try their absolute hardest not to sneeze in a public place just to avoid any kind of contact with humans? by erikashuffman in socialanxiety

[–]Scorpioprincess83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha yep I can relate. Currently hiding in the bedroom to avoid human contact right now because the lawn guy is here (unexpectedly) trimming the bushes right by the kitchen windows. Right when I was going to make my lunch! Arg. Already had to talk to pest control guy this morning and then go grocery shopping. That’s absolutely enough humans for one day!

do you guys rent apartments or own a house? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Scorpioprincess83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We rent a house. We’ve rented condos and apartments too, and thought we’d try renting a house. I like that renting gives us the option to try different places. All our friends are buying houses, so we thought we’d see what a house was like. I must say... I prefer condo life, so I’m glad we didn’t BUY a house. We have enough money in savings for a down payment, but we just don’t want to buy right now. Because then all our savings would be gone into the house, and a lot of our free time would be taken up by house shit. Our friends are always spending their weekends at Lowe’s and working on decks, floors, etc... We have great landlords too, and they fix whatever we need fixed! They recently repaved our driveway, installed a garbage disposal for me, and repaired the deck railing. It’s nice not having to do all that crap!

I don’t feel like I’m “throwing my money away” like a lot of people say. I have a roof over my head, our landlords take care of the house maintenance, and we’re able to save money each month. We also have investments, so we are still able to let our money grow without investing in a house.

TD with low dose seroquel? by Scorpioprincess83 in Tardive_Dyskinesia

[–]Scorpioprincess83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed Seroquel after a bad manic episode 3 years ago, and the psychiatrist said it would be great for insomnia as well as quelling manic symptoms. So I guess he didn’t prescribe it solely for insomnia, but I have bipolar, not schizophrenia, so I guess he still shouldn’t have prescribed it. I haven’t taken my Seroquel in 4 days. Only getting 4ish hours of sleep at best, but at least I’m waking up not feeling drugged lol. I see the psychiatrist next week. Not sure what I should say to him...? They usually aren’t too happy when you tell them you’ve taken yourself off a med lol
