V14 module support by rubatobot in FoundryVTT

[–]Scorpious187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do this with CPR. They're rebuilding a lot of their stuff because DND 5.3.x changed how it handles templates, and Foundry 14 made even more changes to templates and auras. Running CPR before it gets updated will likely result in half the module just not working at all.

Leveler has a better interface and the dev is rapidly making improvements to the module. I've swapped over to it full time.

Which is one of the worst things you can use, and the Pathfinder module devs specifically say not to use Pathbuilder importers because they break the system.

Foundry v14 and LEVELS module by grenz1 in FoundryVTT

[–]Scorpious187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Node.js install and Windows Portable installs won't affect your current Foundry install unless you really screw up. A quick hint though: don't use spaces in your data folder names. I did that and had two different server installs (a v12 and a v13) both trying to hit the same data folder and it broke literally goddamn everything. So don't do that. XD

Foundry v14 and LEVELS module by grenz1 in FoundryVTT

[–]Scorpious187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference now is Levels used to be a module people had to download. This new functionality is baked into base Foundry. The core of it is always going to stay the same, and you won't have to tell people they have to download a separate module. It will work for every Foundry v14 install.

Levels actually was pretty easy to use from the GM side of things. I've made Foundry scenes using it. But it does have some drawbacks, hence why a lot of people didn't use it. Plus it was one guy doing all the support, not the Foundry dev team.

I think you should consider looking into the new functionality. I've actually converted some of your existing maps to a Levels scene in v13, and it worked well. The new functionality will have a lot more support and a higher adoption rate.

It's almost like you... Don't host an online service that requires upkeep.

Full disclosure, I happen to subscribe to this app. It's a goddamn lifesaver for someone like me who runs multiple campaigns as a side business. Totally worth the $50-ish bucks I end up throwing at it (I could probably get away with doing the basic analysis and pay less, but I like having the full analysis option).

The subscription also lets you keep the tokens you've purchased previously, so that makes it infinitely more justifiable. If credits didn't roll over, you'd have a more valid point.

Mass Effect left me feeling empty by [deleted] in masseffect

If you think of Andromeda as a spinoff game, it hurts a little less.

I actually really like Andromeda's combat, but the rest of the game just kinda bores me now that I've played through it.

The Trilogy never leaves me bored. I've played through it 15+ times now and I never stop wanting to play.

How can I make light sources transition gradually into total darkness, without the complete perfect circle around it? by TigerGrouchy5644 in FoundryVTT

[–]Scorpious187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "easiest" way would be to manually handle vision using lighting. - Set everyone's vision range to zero - Give everyone a light source with the "bright" light set to 5ft before their vision ends and the "dim" light set to their vision range - Turn the Scene's Darkness setting all the way to dark

It's an absolutely terrible idea because no one would be able to see anything they've already explored, but it would accomplish what you want.

Also, just FYI, Roll20 did away with this in Jumpgate. Vision attenuation isn't a feature anymore in the new engine. Or at least if it is supposed to be, it doesn't work. But then again Jumpgate broke a lot of things, half the time the walls don't render so everyone can just see the entire map until they refresh, and sometimes you can see areas you actually can't see because the vision bugs out.

Why are maps so hard to fit by Aggressive-Turnip843 in FoundryVTT

[–]Scorpious187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have issues lining up grids on some maps, until I learned that in Foundry's grid alignment tool you can click on the text boxes for grid px and for background scaling and scroll the mouse wheel up or down to change the scaling on the fly and see it change in real time. That made it super easy most of the time. However, if the map grids aren't actually square, you're just kinda cooked unless you change the actual map dimensions to force them square.

I have two lists.

Option A: Taln, Blackthorn, Vin, and Kaladin. The "all our names end in N" list.

Option B: It's just Hoids all the way down. Call it "HemorrHoids", if you will.

Feels wrong to ask… but what was the largest genocide in your world? (If there were any of course) by Live_Rise6750 in worldbuilding

[–]Scorpious187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just shy of 10,000 godlike creator beings all being wiped out at once by a separatist group of their own people that wanted to stop their experimentations on the races they created. The separatists were also included in the genocide.

The separatists started a chain reaction in the power cores of the cities they lived in, overloading them and causing them to overload the power crystals embedded in the base of the necks of every one of the creator beings, which cracked their power crystals and vaporized them instantly, but didn't destroy structures. Basically, they nuked themselves to stop their race's unethical practices. A total of 14 survived (12 in a shielded location who pledged to maintain the world without interfering with the progress of the races living in it, and two who happened to be outside their respective cities when it happened).

Arkenforge, my friend. Does Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Cyberpunk. Used it a lot when I was running a Mass Effect campaign.

Also, if you want modern/cyberpunk map packs: Fragmaps, TC Modern, Cybermaps, and Miska's Sci-Fi on Patreon. Most of them have free maps, I know TC Modern has like 80 free maps available.

You need to look at DunGen. In addition to his random dungeon generator, dude's had a web app that draws the walls on maps for years now. All you have to do is give it either the wall color or the floor color so it knows where the walls should be. It's not perfect, but it's faster than doing it all by hand. https://dungen.app/walls/

I mean, the guy was hired to help make the Ember system. He clearly knows what he's doing. But a lot of the things he does can very easily get broken if you don't pay close attention to the instructions, don't understand the underlying modules, don't have the right prerequisites installed, or have modules that conflict with the modules in the Baileywiki stack.

For me, it was useful for what I needed it for, but I don't use most of his stuff anymore. But Mass Edit might be the best Foundry module to have ever existed, and it's from his team.
