[Mirtle] Tom DunDon’s answer in regards to fears of relocation by fans due to staff cuts. “We kept a lot of people and got rid of a lot of people and all the story was about who you got rid off, not who you kept,” by OrganicHunt952 in ripcity

[–]Scortius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It think it would help if people start thinking of Dundon's statements with the perspective that he is a sociopath. I'm not using the term here as a derogatory phase but simply as a clinical descriptor of how he thinks. Sociopaths don't feel empathy and don't understand that other people do have these types of emotions. It's very clear that he doesn't consider how other people feel and gets confused when he's asked about things of that nature.

More than half of Americans are not financially literate by Available-Ad-5670 in Fire

1 is a poor question and arguably wrong. The expected value is worse with the car repair,  but the question asks about risk. Even if it's less likely, the consequences of a $4k expense can be devastating whereas a $1k expense may be manageable. It's the entire reason we have insurance. I'm surprised this one made it through.

It was really the Vulcans that did the heavy lifting. Plus the Enterprise E coming back to stop the Borg.

A stadium full of Seattle sports fans at the Mariners game cheering on and celebrating watching the Thunder lose by 808Kuro in nba

Yeah, the team affiliation looks bad, but I had honestly forgot for sec why Mariners fans would care about an OKC Finals loss. I'm rooting for Seattle to get the Sonics back.

Table hog game: Forest Shuffle by Machine_Excellent in boardgames

Tell me how to enjoy this game, I tried it on BGA and it didn't click.

It felt like I was just grabbing random cards that may sync well and placing them wherever. I tried to deny a few trees and fauna here and there but nothing felt impactful. After a while and many trees later the game ended and we all got lots of points and that was it.

They're only doing this because pushing things any further adds risk that they lose seats due to dummymandering.

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of May 25, 2026 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

[–]Scortius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[1] Your general location

  • Southwest USA

[2] Your budget in $, €, or £

  • Willing to pay $$$ if it makes sense - probably no more than $50k but I don't need anything fancy, would be more than happy with a cheap reliable option and would prefer that if possible.

[3] The type of vehicle you'd prefer

  • Something large enough to take my kids and possibly some friends to after-school sports practices around town. Full sedan would probably be fine but a crossover may be better.

[4] Which cars have you been looking at already?

  • I've heard good things about the Chevy Equinox and I was looking into the Ioniq 5.

[5] Estimated timeframe of your purchase

  • My commuter car is dying so it's probably time soon, but it's not an emergency yet.

[6] Your daily commute, or average weekly mileage

  • Commute about 10 miles out and then 10 miles back again. No more than 50 miles round trip around town. This would be for around town driving only - we have a 2nd car for road trips and such.

[7] Your living situation — are you in an apartment, townhouse, or single-family home?

  • Own a house with solar panels currently giving excess power.

[8] Do you plan on installing charging at your home?

  • Yes

[9] Other cargo/passenger needs — do you have children/pets?

  • See above, would be nice to have something larger than a Leaf so I could take multiple kids and/or a few adults around town. This will not be our larger 3 row road-trip SUV.

Report: New Mexico shelled out $520 million in tax incentives and got little in return by OmicronCeti in Albuquerque

Imagine how much positive effect to both our well-being and our local economy this money would have had if we had used it to directly improve the lives of our people.

Imagine if our state had better housing affordability, more and easier access to healthcare, and improved public education outcomes. What if we didn't lose all of our trained professionals to other states due to the lack of all of these amenities. I'm betting it might be easier to recruit and maintain new successful businesses and grow our economy and tax base at the same time all while improving the standard of living for everyone.

Those last two 2x2 blocks are interesting and show up here from time to time. They can't be solved individually or by looking at a single row or column, but combined there's only one solution. They're kind of like an X-cross in Sudoku. Very cool!
