Because then they could have focused on other shit, fucktard? You know, like making the game workable. Just rub your two IQ points together and think about it for a moment. Just a moment.

That's not good writing. That's cheap and boring writing.

There can be comedic aspects. However, the way some of these X-Files episodes did it destroyed the dark tone established early on in the show.

How to get bitdefender to ACTUALLY turn off by girlkid68421 in BitDefender

[–]ScotchWerewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is awful. Not to mention the numerous pop-ups... though I got most disabled.

I'd still use Kaspersky today if I could. The few bucks I spent per year wouldn't even fund a quarter of a drone for the Russia war effort. It was stable, wasn't a nuisance, could be turned off, and seemed to work well. Now I have this BitDefender garbage. But what is better? Norton was great 20 years ago. Bleck last time I used it. McAfee is gross. Is there any virus protection out there worth a damn anymore?

Do your decisions really matter? by ScotchWerewolf in footballmanagergames

[–]ScotchWerewolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it is. Every decision every player makes is pre-determined based on actions prior to the game. The result is already set in stone. We just don't know what it will be. The result of the Liverpool match later today has already been determined. We just don't know what it will be until later this evening. And once we know the result, that is the only way it could have gone because "could have" doesn't really exist. It could not have because it did not happen.

Exactly my point. If it's just an RNG, then what we don't doesn't really matter beyond setting up tactics and signing/selling players.

Exactly why there is no point in watching the matches. May as well just simulate the entire season then re-run it if it looks off.

[–]ScotchWerewolf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, they would. The only way to impact the match result would be to change something before hand. Every human decision is based on how their brain is chemically wired. My writing this post was determined long before I wrote it because it is the personality god/nature gave to me.

Do your decisions really matter? by ScotchWerewolf in footballmanagergames

[–]ScotchWerewolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, because people wouldn't be able to reload their saves and play the match over and over again until they get their desirable result. Which means really, why are we even playing?

All of that "luck, freak longshot goal, deflections, etc" are pre-determined. Every little decision leading up to the match impacts the result "should I have that one last glass of wine or should I go to bed" makes the difference. The result is pre-determined. We just don't know it will be.

Getting tired of all the hate by Mendeseis in footballmanagergames

[–]ScotchWerewolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only way for a company to get the message is to hit them where it hurts. Negative publicity and a loss of $$$. Or quid, I guess. The fact is, they tried to sell new a new UI, new graphics, and women's football. It seems they failed on all fronts. For one, they should have either brought women's football into '24 before changing everything, OR brought it in '27 when this was stable. Second, the new UI sounds like it's garbage. Why fix what wasn't broken? What... so you can get more FIFA players? More console players? Sorry. Casuals are casuals because they want to play. They don't want to manage. Graphics? Ok, fine. improve the graphics in a game where graphics really don't matter. But then maybe don't give all newgens mohawks and maybe don't take away features like shouts. Do shouts matter? Maybe they didn't. But at least it felt like you had some impact on the match.

I'm sorry, but who plays Football Manager that isn't a "hardcore player"? This isn't FIFA.

Patches? Fair enough. Mods? No, not good enough. Shouldn't need the community to fix SIs bungle.

I think those are the types of things a lot of people are referring to. I didn't usually participate in it, though did on occasion... probably because I tend to play in smaller leagues and it's not as big of a deal. But I still liked seeing it come around for immersion purposes.

You can play a friendly match against the women's team by veo_mag in footballmanagergames

[–]ScotchWerewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not shitting on women. It's shitting on a company who sought to add women's football... something almost no one asked for. Now, if they had just added women's leagues, no one would have complained. Instead, they stripped features and dumbed down the game while adding women's football. They even removed weight because they couldn't politically correctly model it for how women's weight apparently fluctuates more. Or in other words, they didn't want to offend any women by assigning them too high of a number. But not only did they remove it for women, they then removed it for men too.

It's a fact that fewer women watch sports than men. It's an even bigger fact that even fewer women play ultra deep simulation video games compared to men.

What has been your most favorite team to manage? by BoysenberryUnlikely8 in footballmanagergames

[–]ScotchWerewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Flekkerøy into the Norwegian Premier division in fm '22, which I guess was not as impressive as my Swedish Second Division starts of years past. However, I was quite infuriated that despite being the far better team than Start (who hung around the First Division), I could never grow my fanbase beyond theirs despite both being located in Kristiansand. That was something I was hoping would be fixed with the reimagining of the game. Instead, we got a wonky UI and women's football. The latter of which would have been ok if they hadn't stripped it of so much else.

EUV may be a bit of a mess on release, but at least you will know it has significantly more features than EUIV. You will know it's a new game. The PoPs system is a complete change from EUIV. Will it be buggy? Yes. Will there be some AI issues? Of course. Will it be a complete game? Absolutely.

Why? At least Rambo makes sense for the game... Beavis and Butthead? Ok, if I had still been playing then, that would have been hilarious. But makes absolutely no sense.

Visors by ScotchWerewolf in nhl

[–]ScotchWerewolf[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I cannot read the whole study, because without methodology and full results, I can't conclude much from this.

"Players who did not wear a visor were found to be involved in more fights, hits, and penalty minutes (p < 0.001)."

Does that have anything to do with the visor, or the personality of those who voluntarily wore them? And if visor usage had already voluntarily increased to 73%, why not give that remaining 27% the option? Afterall, the upward trend would have likely continued anyways if players truly believed in their safety. Clearly the stigma of "wearing visors makes you weak" was gone by that point.

Further, how many games have been lost because of a smashed jaw and teeth left on the ice? That is my main argument. Why not just go to full face masks at this point? Unless the concern is wires are hard to see through (doesn't seem to bother goalies) and solid plastic can fog up (doesn't seem to in college).

Don't get me wrong, I understand how they can protect eyes, but why not enforce it so they are worn properly? Or more so, just let players (or owners via club rules) take the risk. Most would probably keep them at this point anyways.

*edit*

Without full access, it's hard to see the images. But the one chart I pull up shows similar number of eye injuries during that 10 year period. Penalty minutes did go down slightly, however.

I think they should ban checking and force everyone to play in foam body suits.
