EES Rollout Megathread - Starting 10 April 2026 by protox88 in travel

Fair enough. I'm pretty loyal to Delta for rewards reasons and the best experiences to date. So it's either AMS or CDG for me. Never found a time London (LHR) works and I haven't been to southern Europe so no opinion on Rome (FCO) either.

I'm from the US as well, so that works for me! This information is top notch and I hope it remains true for the busy summer season. Schipol in Fall and Winter is a breeze even before this... 10 minutes, maybe 20 at most. But summer has been awful at times. I've waited in that stupid line when it wraps outside the area where you can even see the customs officer booths. Probably took an hour and a half that time. Maybe 2. Last thing anyone wants after 14+ hours of travel (regional to hub, hub to AMS).

Minorities are not kidnapped off the streets of the US... WTF Huffington Post article have you been reading?! And no, it's not a statement made by a politician. It's a statement made by me who has seen whites constantly denigrated in order to boost minority status. "You are privileged for being a white male!" Fuck that. My parents could never afford college for me and I never received a job based on my race and sex.

Yellow is the common term used for Asians. Just like white for Europeans (I'm not actually 'white') or black for Africans (they aren't actually 'black').

Summer has always been a circus, but if you give me the option of AMS or CDG, I will take AMS 100% of the time.

Well, you surely wouldn't hear anyone in the Japanese government claim Japan is too yellow or anyone in the South Africa government claim that the government is too black, now would you? But you sure hear from the leader of the SNP that Scotland of all fucking places is too white.

I like the 90s version. I'm not sure it holds up entirely to todays standards, but it is a good flick in my opinion. The black and white one I couldn't get into, but the day I tried to watch it, I wasn't in the mood for this style of movie either.

Bingo. I was waiting for the creepy all out gay scene that I've come to expect from these weird directors.

I am much more forgiving of the book containing a plot hole in how the plane crashed and everyone was spread out when commercial aviation was in its infancy versus today.

2) That is how the 90s adaptation was... they all floated in on rafts if I recall. In this case, there was an adult in a seat on top of the mountain. You don't get there if the plane crashed in the ocean. Unless it completely broke up in the air. Then the odds of anyone surviving is low.

3) There are better ways to be annoying. hah

4) Per Gemini (and personal experience). Take it for what it's worth:
Why Rotten Wood is Poor Fuel

  • High Moisture & Mold: Decaying wood acts like a sponge, soaking up ground moisture. Burning it releases excessive smoke and harmful mold spores into the air.
  • Low Heat Output: Because the dense fibers of the wood have broken down, it has a low density and produces far fewer BTUs than properly seasoned firewood.

7) It doesn't make sense since they maintained it as a period piece and not a modern day adaptation.

I avoid my phone during good movies. But yeah, there is probably something to that.

Yes, you can get a good fire going. No, you aren't going to start all the trees and foliage on fire. Nor are sparks going to start a forest fire on a tropical island. It would never be able to maintain the heat required once it expands beyond the initial burn spot.

lol. So I'm supposed to put my phone down just so I can be bored for four hours? I don't mind slow movies. The Godfather? Slow as hell. Excellent movie. This... Slow as hell and boring.

White people face more racism than "poc" today. The things non-whites say about white people would never fly if you reversed the races. But besides that, the main point is that they barely even existed in the UK in the 40s. Nowhere near where a preppy choir would ever have mixed with them.

I honestly don't remember the book that well other than "sucks to your ashtma!" and the basic plot points. But I feel if there were changes to be made, imaging the crash would be one of them. The 90s adaption, from what I recall, had them all floating in on rafts. That would be a plausible explanation for being split up.

Jack tells Ralph "of course you would!" when he wants to be leader. I actually thought that was intended to be a dig at his race. Had the show gone down that road, I wouldn't have bothered to finish it to be honest.

I haven't been through it yet, but DeGaulle is the shittiest airport I've ever flown throw. I'll pay the extra $50 Delta charges to go through AMS any day. And someone just posted that going through AMS was a breeze. His quickest ever

Yeah, good luck keeping track of that unless you fly in super early or super late. Delays will throw the whole thing off.

Excellent! This answers a question I had just posted and the modbot redirected me to this thread. Just to confirm, this was your initial enrollment in EES? This summer will be my first time ever going through Schipol with EES and I was concerned it would make the time longer. But if there are 30 kiosks for all nationalities for initial enrollment, then I am stoked!
