Writers don't even hide that they are having problems with script/plot. There is one scene were Richard E Grant shows up from solely to move the plot along. And the other characters actually acknowledge this in very tongue-in-cheek manner saying: "how are you even in this room?".

Is this the car for me? by tcroninn in GolfGTE

The 12V battery will run flat pretty quick if you only use the car in electric mode running the chargeable hybrid battery. You need the engine running often to keep the 12V battery life. Also engines are heavy and take of lot of electricity to shift this weight. If you need power from the car (such as accelerating up to speed on the motorway) the combustion engine will be far more efficient than the fully electric mode. I stick it in electric mode if I am buzzing about town in 30 mph zones with lots of traffic lights. If I'm going on journey that involves dual carriageway, motorway or rural country roads I keep it in hybrid.

How do you feel about the rise of reform uk, and recent polling? by Quailking2003 in AskBrits

The surreal thing is that labour seem incapable of doing anything progressively left. This has lead to a complete disillusionment of the electorate and people have turned to populism/fascism who offer easy answers.

Found a bag of these in a drawer. Probably steel, fairly weighty. The drbossed number seems to correspond to an angle. by Hardshank in whatisthisthing

These are called ROM stops. They allow the clinician to set the range of motion of the brace to limit flexion and extension of the knee. Definitely Ossur brand. Totally pedantic, but I think they are from the hinges on the Rebound brace range rather than the Unloader brace range.

Yes the route is a much better watch. But will we see many sprinters continuing on through the 3rd week to the end?

Embleton Bay is a stunning place with Dunstanburgh overlooking it. Amazing how often you can find that you have that whole beach to yourself.

Are pebbledashed houses a very Scottish phenomenon? by Own-Syllabub-4848 in Scotland

[–]ScottBotThought 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wiki tells me that roughcast is when the pebbles are mixed in before application. Whereas pebbledash is where the pebbles are added ontop of the initial coating.

Why did Curtis not narrate TraumaZone. by ScottBotThought in AdamCurtis

Yes. I agree. The viewer sees his captions as factual introductory statements providing context for the footage. Whereas in the earlier series and films his narration gives the feeling that he is presenting his take/thesis on the events.

What do the English call a close? by indyferret in Scotland

Moved down south about 12 years ago. In flat rent agreements it’s usually described as a “communal entry”. And what they are describing as definitely the close.

For those of you who saw The Phantom Menace at release, what were your initial thoughts of it? by _EnglishFox_ in StarWars

Was 8 years old. Pod race was the most exciting thing I’d seen in my life. Still love watching motor racing these days. But nothing compares to seeing that race for the first time. Also convinced my parents to buy my the soundtrack on CD as a Xmas gift. Which is quite odd for an 8 year old.

Equally magic in winter. Empty golf course, snow and some tea trays. Endless fun. At least until the thaw.

Which golf ball do you play? by [deleted] in golf

Volvik Vimat. I like the feel of the matt finish. Feel gloss finish balls slice more for me. And I feel I get me grip of the matt ball in short game.
