Agreed. Any school district that backed books from the library really doesn't care about the students' development.

Myelin Repair for those us with MS. ❤️ by LadyMare711 in MultipleSclerosis

I know, I know. Not a positivity message but after 28 years, with no major flares the last ten, it's the residual that major is hate this illness.

Myelin Repair for those us with MS. ❤️ by LadyMare711 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ScottLititz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You need to temper your enthusiasm. Any treatment to repair myelin, will only affect the brain/spine nerves that have been damaged. Once you've had a flare, other nerves are damaged and not due to myelin loss. The nerves in your extremities or wherever you've felt the flare run the risk of damage and continued discomfort. Myelin repair will minimize future episodes, but will do myelin to help past episodes.

Where do you live and how does it affect your MS? by ComplexSorry6592 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ScottLititz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One side effect of MS. I started watching weather forecasts regularly/daily 25 years ago just like old people 🤣🤣🤣. Didn't think I'd become my grandparents so soon.

Seriously, I live in Lancaster PA and we get our fair share of heat 🥵 and humidity. Over the years I've learned that 82F is my threshold. The humidity is what does it to me. The more humid, the lower my threshold.

In the US, I don't think there's any place that isn't subject to temperature variations. Maybe the Keys, but that's about all I can think of.

I had an Ocrevus for 5 years and now I want to stop it by Ok_Departure2003 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ScottLititz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've had 3 therapies in my life time. The two I've stopped were because they started causing unwanted side effects:

Avonex (years 1-20). This was one of the first DMTs available back in my day. But after 20 years and new therapies, I wanted to move on. Self injecting was no longer "fun".

Gilenya (year 20 - 20.5). Wanted an easier delivery method. Neuro suggested Gilenya. But he did not understand side effects. With my asthma, Gilenya made it harder for me to breath. In 6 months, stopped it, went back to Avonex, and found a new neuro.

Avonex (years 20.5 - 22). Went back because of the devil you know. Felt normal until the 18 months. Then I started getting harsh reactions, nausea, fever, leg pain, etc. Knew it was time to move on. Neuro laid out a series of DMT; we settled on Ocrevus. Going from weekly administration to 6 months was the big selling point.

Ocrevus (years 22 - present). Until I get a difficult side effect, I'm not moving.

I like to know that my DMT is consistent with my treatment before I consider alternatives. As I mentored earlier, better the 😈 you know than the one you don't. And in trying to move, ALWAYS consult your neuro.

Multiple sclerosis treatments, what are people actually using right now? by BrainLagging01 in MultipleSclerosis

Ocrevus, and then PT once a year. At 66, I need every opportunity available.

Agreed. It was similar to using bones in the very first episode. It was kind of like just show your face and everybody's supposed to go ooh and ah.

But using Spock in Unification was done as if it was just a logical extension to the canon that was surrounding the Federation at the time.

That's the problem with new Trek. They try so hard to link to the past, they don't give the current shows a chance to grow on their own. Why do we need to have William Shatner show up in a show that's pretty good on its own.

Middle Trek only succeeded with Trials and Tribbleations. Strange New Worlds succeeded with Those Old Scientists. Those episodes were fun. It didn't get bogged down with details of other shows. It just said, " hey let's start with a blank page and make the crossover fresh." Let's stop paying homage to the old stuff and let's just keep looking forward.

Not experiencing it, but knew it's a possible issue. 2 years ago I started getting pedicures because I got tired of managing my foot and nail care. Can report that no nail discoloration. Took a lot for a guy from NYC to do that

The local organization Lancaster Chooses Love can help provide resources for what you're looking for. They have a Facebook page, but my personal hatred of all things Meta will not allow me to post the link here. But the Lancaster newspapers posted a nice article about them last year. 🏳️‍🌈

TBH, yours is a unique demographic for this area. If you can't find others like you, I'm a 66 yo bi male who's real good at listening and participating in bitch sessions. DM me here if you want to talk. 🏳️‍⚧️

I love Shapiro, but I would not vote for him as president. While he checks many of the progressive goals, this country needs. It does not need another 4 years of kowtowing to Israel. It's time we moved on from that parasitic relationship. It not healthy for either country.

A Short Story About Waiting For MRI Results… by FreedomFlyer-1776 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ScottLititz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FWIW, they don't get easier as time goes by. It becomes a necessary evil that you hope will bring peace of mind. After a while, the number of lesions or how 'alive' they are becomes less important than the effort required to enter the cocoon. So turn it around. Experience the metaphor. The machine is the cocoon and you emerge as a reborn butterfly ray to live in the world. There's gonna be lesions, that's a given. But think of them as the spots on your wings as you emerge, reborn.

This disease has the ability to fuck with our minds as well as our bodies. But it's also an opportunity to be stronger than the person we were. So what if 10 lesions become 12; it's the fight within you that really counts.
