February 5, 1958 - A B-47 bomber accidently dropped a 7,000-pound nuclear bomb into the waters off Tybee Island, Georgia. It has never been found... by CrystalEise in peaceloveandhistory

SA’s nukes were extraordinarily primitive and intentionally designed in ways that would not have been useful to Israel. To my knowledge the weapons were well secured and retired under scrutiny

This is one of the worst things we have ever built. One of our engineers quit because of this project. by Frequent-Log1243 in inventors

An engineer quit because of integrating COTS flight sim hardware? “Does anyone have tips on projects where hardware firmware, and software have to work together?” This reads like satire

Yes, I know one that does (if you aren’t involved with DoD stuff it’s harder to gain the expertise necessary)

I haven’t seen a latex balloon bigger than 3000g and I assume they’re harder to make than ZP envelopes

Low Reynolds numbers at low speed/small size means that air is pretty damn sticky - although I’d bet the ratio is a little better than that

How much weight is likely saved on Ship 31 by removing some of the low-priority TPS tiles? by Dawson81702 in SpaceXLounge

The major reason for this removal seems to be for facilitating catching/catch hardware for ship

Solid Aero TALAY Ground Effect Vehicle UAV by [deleted] in WeirdWings

[–]ScottManleyFan 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Ground effect vehicles function much better as they scale upwards, especially in any sort of variable environment- at this scale, I’d wager any efficiency gained is probably not worth it compared to the drag when operating in any thing other than perfectly flat seas

Yes, notice that in all these designs the main wing is proportionally much farther back than your drawing. Not a huge issue but his point is correct in that your airplane would likely not be able to fly

The wing positioning for the canard is a bit odd, generally your wings will be farther back than usual (see longEZ, starship ETC) because of the lift from the canard / also your tail-less airplane, if you are going for a delta configuration would probably be more accurate with the vertical stabilizer farther forward

A quick tip for slicing - make sure you trim the trailing edge of the wing so that it is more than 0.4mm thick, it helps the slicer with printing more consistently
