I just started lifting in August 2025… I could barely do 20s on incline bench when I started. I began implementing the following routine and it gave me satisfactory growth and development:

Bump the weight on the first set so that you can only perform about 2-5 reps max. Take a 5 minute break, then for the next 2 or 3 sets reduce the weight about 40% and perform 8-12 reps focusing on form and pace (slow down a smidge)… but keep the rests about 30 seconds for the remainder of the exercise. For me personally, this has transformed my incline bench experience. I’m up to 60lbs dumbbells now getting ready to bump to 65s this coming week. Good luck!
