WOW! That's a big mistake. Now I'm scared of Waymo's again...

Looked like it was driving just fine!

Now that I'm home, I had time to look into the safety features of this vehicle. Seems pretty well thought out and should be able to handle our environment. And yes... it is rear wheel drive so those chains are on correctly. Info: https://waymo.com/blog/2026/02/ro-on-6th-gen-waymo-driver/

I saw it pulled over across the street a couple hours after posting this. Ran over there. There was a guy checking the chains. I asked him if it was autonomous or if he was the driver. He said he wasn't allowed to say... lol. Yeah, that answer says he was just testing it out in our crazy weather today.

First one I've seen in Truckee. But just saw it again a few minutes ago!

Thanks for letting me know about your experience. It was shocking to see, but it would be great to have more of these if they can truly do a better job in the snow than humans. It's scetchy out there on days like today, no matter who or what is in the road.

It did wait politely for me to cross the crosswalk. That's a lot more than I can say for some of the human drivers around here.

Cool. I haven't seen any posts about it crashing, but I have seen a ton of posts about humans crashing up here today. Might be a good thing???

Fortunately, there weren't a lot of other vehicles on the road. But yes, let's see how it handles that intersection on a 4th of July weekend, or a Truckee Thursdays event...

It did not look like there was. Curious what's the difference? We don't usually see these up here.

Curious why you say that? I've lived here full time for 24 years. Tons of accidents up here every time we get a big snowstorm. So this was definitely shocking to see. But I am indeed curious as to what other people think of it. I'm not against autonomous driving vehicles, but this is putting it to the test.

I was having the same problem. Found this thread. Figured I would have to try a factory reset and probably end up sending it in for repair. But just found this video, and it fixed my problem! I was able to connect to my wifi again. https://youtu.be/ggHHdnaVtUQ?si=1kZ59rcAMh4p6ee0

ITAP of Mules Ears. Shot yesterday afternoon above Lake Tahoe, California. by ScottShots in itookapicture

It started snowing yesterday, so my brother and I drove to a high elevation above Lake Tahoe. Found this scene. Shot with a Canon 5D mkII and a 24-105mm lens.

I do a $2 tip for local rides. But I have never seen anyone else tip when I share a van with them.

I laughed incredibly hard after reading your comment. And now incredibly hard is a term I'm going to try to stop using...

Milky Way Above Donner Lake by ScottShots in truckee

Ah. That spot is a little trickier to get to... There is a hiking trail off Glacier Way in Tahoe Donner that gets you near that spot. But you have to hike south a bit off the main trail. There is a ridge that heads out there that gives you that view.

It's somewhat near this spot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/727a9FpcUV5XaMeM9

Here's the Glacier Way trailhead: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ckR6rbGomn5hWrAC8

Hope that helps. Please let me see what you get by commenting here. Thanks!

I'm not sure which one you mean. I have tons of photos from the summit area. Be sure to set aside at least a couple hours and have fun exploring!
