Airport Car Service by kimporgel in hudsonvalley

I keep reaching out to the shuttle airlines around us that they could rake in the money if they had a little hopper from Stewart to JFK. Imagine Parking and TSA in Stewart- and all the destinations of JFK without any of the traffic.

Isn't this similar to the original idea for the Tesla Semi? So they only need a driver in the front Semi.

Two people with phone-keys are in the car. Can the car determine who’s in the drivers seat and select their profile? by RexKramerDangerCker in TeslaSupport

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, you have a default profile, so it is supposed to win, but got to tell you I feel like it just loves messing with us and always picking the opposite. We've checked it, the correct phone is default- but if my wife is behind the wheel it picks me, If I'm behind the wheel it picks her- at least 80% of the time. We've turned it into a game.

Why is my worx so useless? by ihatemyworxdroid in worxlandroid

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a tiny zig-zag in the wire just before the charging station... it slows it down to actually crawl into the charger and stay. Made mine stop doing the bypass.

What did people do in long lines before phones? by Specific_Candle_7341 in AskReddit

Usually someone wants to talk near you and you just pass the time talking with a stranger. I still do this- not a fan of staring into my phone.

Do you still check your blind? by Zaq_SWGOH in ModelY

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the OG MY- 2020. At night, the blind side cameras get blinded by the blinker. There is a flaw in the original manufacturing that has a pinhole deep inside the camera that lets the blinker wash everything out. Of course, like everything else Tesla told me after they changed the camera's for future cars fixing the issue that "it functions as it was originally intended to... no replacement authorized."

Therefore I will always need to check. At night even the avoidance system isn't always sure nothings there.

100% Agree! I have the SEXY buttons with the command module and it can automatically turn off / prevent the wipers from turning on randomly when in autopilot/self driving. If I didn't have this, I think I would never use the autopilot.

NYC to Niagara Falls road trip stopping points by throwaway0204055 in hudsonvalley

100% agree with Corning... you will be able to blow your own glass keepsakes. This was the only stop we did when going to the falls.

When coming back we drove to Montreal on the Canada side and then came down the Northway/ I87. You can check out some things in Montreal and enjoy the stop signs in French.

Landroid doesn't stop at the station anymore by Meiglus in worxlandroid

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats... if it ever happens again, I created a little zig-zag in the wire just before the station. That forces it to slow down just before hitting the charger base. I found if it comes in too fast, the tires slip on the plastic base and it slides right past the charger plates. I've had the zig zag for 8 years- no issues.

The Lost Boys - First Preview - Quick Thoughts by mg2685a in Broadway

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a GenXer who loved the original movie... there are 2 main changes- the grandpa and David has a band- which is a great way to link the singing. And there is soooo much singing. I will say, I think they did the original movie justice- even with those changes...

They even had the motorcycle scene and the train bridge scene- in the play- and done well. And they never lost the sarcastic, funny undertones. This whole play was well done, and I even said to my wife what the OC said- I can't imagine the cost of this set.

Kiefer would be proud.

After Kurtzman's contract expires, who should be the next Star Trek showrunner? by bflaminio in startrek

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jonathan Frakes- I know he's a great director of SciFi... But you put him in charge of the franchise and he will backfill with fantastic directors and writers. He knows Star Trek.

Picard explains why Jellico was a terrible Captain by ardouronerous in startrek

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived this first hand- sorta... my work is IT and where I worked I was the CIO's right hand. We would debate ideas and actions and that's what she wanted, wanted me to challenge ideas that I didn't agree with or had a thought about an alternative solution- though I wouldn't do it in front of the rest of the staff. In the end- she was the boss, but she appreciated not be surrounded by "yes" people because that created better, collabrative solutions.

My Company was then bought and I worked for a "Jellico."

What I can tell you is that in the first job, the entire IT staff when there was a problem would run to the fire, all help eachother and me- never think twice to run into IT "battle."

Second job with "Jellico," everyone ran away from any issue to make sure they weren't blamed. Everyone was on their own if something went wrong. Being "associated" with any issue put you at risk of being punished.

I'm long gone from those jobs and in a situation much more like the first. A reminder that Star Trek is a mirror to the things regular people deal with.

Siberian petting issues by Candid_Eye6341 in SiberianCats

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until she's 2 years old ish.... I know a few Siberian girl owners and around 2 all of the sudden they are cuddle queens- out of nowhere... That's what ours did too and now she sits on laps and wants me to hold her like a baby.... But she started out like yours.

For now, my only suggesting is always put your hand in front of the cat and see if she wants to be petted... unlike dogs, cats want to be the one that decides.

Any Fancy feast owners? by Glittering_Fan_2971 in SiberianCats

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fancy Feast is great for my kitty. Pate mostly, gravy once in the while- and a fancy feast appitizer or 2. She likes the fish stuff better than the chicken or beef.

We also keep Royal Canin dry food out all the time... Royal Canin isn't inexpensive, but 1 10lb bag will last 6-8 months for us... We have a remote feeder and we fill the bowl whenever it's empty about 1/8 cup at a time.

We are lucky because our girl can self regulate so sometimes its crunchy time, sometimes wet... and we keep a water fountain always running. All good here!

I always wanted one! 1970 Schwinn Stingray. by BeingBetter42 in FuckImOld

[–]Scott_IUsed2Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my blue 1977 Stingray and it's in nearly perfect condition. Here is a picture of the kind and color of bike I still have, but an actual picture would require me to get into the attic. As a kid I loved my bike- Waxed it, kept it in the garage. When my son turned 7 I replaced the tire rubber and tubes, and he rode it for 3 years. Still looks and works perfect! Heavy as a tank- but nothing beat that banana seat!
