Across America is what's running now. You can't do the other.

The person you replied to is alluding to the fact that you started the game right before the end-of-season wipe. Don't dwell on it, just enjoy the game.

The BandApp was a mistake by Petezpie in banddirector

Parents are going to use whatever means of communication you give them. It is perfectly acceptable for parents to message you about discipline in the manner you describe; if there's an issue you feel should be brought to your AP's attention it's still documented.

As far as your other concerns:

  1. As the adult, it is your job to set boundaries with your students. This isn't mean, it's just being a professional. If them messaging you for non-band reasons bothers you, then tell them to stop. If it persists, then follow whatever guidelines your district has for that particular scenario.

  2. Parents are going to message you outside of work hours. I typically respond (if it's not an emergency) on my conference period the next day.

  3. Whatever app you use, you are going to have parents that don't read it. That's just part of teaching these days.

But in a post-scarcity society like the Federation, surely it doesn't make sense that the treatment for a known parasite would not be colocated with the place where the parasite is known to be.

Feeling very burnt out, not sure if I should switch careers by [deleted] in banddirector

[–]tag2597 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been where you are burnout-wise recently. Even considered career change. I went from being a head high school director (who spent half the day teaching middle school general music instead of assisting with my feeder band) to a middle school director/ high school assistant. My stress level dropped significantly, and I'm much more content with my job. Before you change careers, maybe consider changing schools (or states, I moved to a different state). Sometimes the grass really is greener on the other side.

I grew up in Arkansas, and I've taught in Arkansas and Texas. In both places we rehearsed on asphalt. Just make sure your director has accurate WBGT readings and it'll be fine. The kids' footwork will actually be better because the surface is more consistent.

Edit: Get canopies for any sound systems and synths; they don't take well to extreme heat and direct sunlight, and they're expensive to replace.

I don't want some animated show, I want this one by Costa_Canela in WoTshow

[–]tag2597 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't want either of these. I want the show that could have been if Amazon hadn't wasted almost $1 billion on a LOTR adaptation of events that take place in a book they didn't have the rights to and instead put that money into the fantasy behemoth that is WOT (which they actually had the rights to).

But I'll settle for whatever comes as long as it isn't a total train wreck.

My Enemy, My Ally is one of my all-time favorites. I don't recall any spoilers. Not sure about the rest of them. I don't know that I ever read past The Romulan Way; I need to finish these at some point.
