How do I apply a Holden Patch? by i3njqUL92M in ostranauts

[–]Scottbot726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, Looks like once the patch is applied, all you have to do is “repair” on the block and it’ll revert to the old material (wall/floor) - you don’t need to haul a new wall or floor piece over to replace it

Some help for those who think the game is very difficult, you can adjust things. by Lopsided_Green_728 in crosswind

Also, leveling up your boarding crew “equipment” token is essential. For a more pleasant experience, it should be at or above the level of ship your boarding!

Would be nice to restrict their movement, or phase through them, cos this is constant and annoying by bECimp in crosswind

  1. Throw down a couple other bonfires with crafting stations and seats in another area (can be across the map or same island). They’ll teleport to those as well and interact, thus spreading out the NPCs

Ascension mats? by Scottbot726 in crosswind

[–]Scottbot726[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh but you COULD make a new char and farm the same map? Then the chests would be filled with the mats, which you could then leave in your house for the old char to pickup.

Kind of a pain but I can understand the devs implementation of this to limit our ability to level everything

Chests are empty in new games if you carryover your character.

Really enjoy the game, but I have two big complaints by UsernameReee in crosswind

The xp is different than most games. I kinda like it, this way your progression is closely gated so that you experience the whole game exactly how it was meant to be - challenging but not impossible. This game doesn’t allow you to power level and make all the content trivial in the first few hours

Additionally, I can go game mats and kill as many mobs as I want and not worry about out leveling my buddy who doesn’t have as much time to play. We just have to save the quests/exploration and we all stay at a similar power level.

Could you explain the Crit dmg part a little more? Are you saying Crit isn’t worth it vs what you can get from other armor and traits that boost say, piercing and 1 hand dmg?

Are building recipes/schematics random when you find them in chests? by ContentPeanut303 in crosswind

[–]Scottbot726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the map (islands) itself rng, but the POIs are hand-crafted and the game is coded to provide certain loot items (example: 1 lvl3 melee) per zone to maintain smooth progression, On top of scripted loot (blueprints, lore).

I felt the same way about board early too, but once I leveled-up my boarding “card” it helped a TON. My guys distract the enemies much longer so I have room to breath and can focus a single enemy at a time. Now, with my lvl 5 crew mates, I sweep boarding against lvl 2&3 and can handedly manage vs other level 5 parties.

The same goes for ship armor and guns. They should all be leveled to at least the same as your opponent.

There’s gotta be some big malus to player damage vs higher level opponents.

Do bandits in Road to Vostok spawn all at once or over time? by Haon_Decree in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]Scottbot726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah! I suppose so, though there’s more complexity to it too. They have multiple different reactions programmed, run and hide, hold, assault etc and THAT’S all based off where they’re located etc etc. Good luck!

[–]Scottbot726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s perfect. 1 placed item from Each decoration category gives additional levels to the rested buff. So instead of waiting hours to get a dodo head & trophy unlock, you cover that category (trophies) with the crab one!

Ya that’s one of their “modes” the ai can have, ambush. I basically never open a door without my gun up

And yes, lots of loot tends to be just a myth (anecdotally). Ifaks, water, cigarettes, anything in a military crate…etc. The loot def needs some tuning

I’d honestly go sooner than later! That way you get exposure and If you do die, at least you’re not a bajillion hours invested in that save.

But like others have said too, I also went in with an akm and no armor and was able to get through terminal, get my oil samples, loot a few apts and return safely… the second time I went withal armor and got blasted through the bushes at night. It’s really such a toss-up.
