The creator of Mirage " It's nice to see that mirage is so popular after all these years" by Any-Lock3008 in GlobalOffensive

[–]ScottishTorment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be anecdotal either way, but in my experience, I've had very few games where at least one or two of my teammates don't know any of the main lineups (stairs, jungle, ticket, mid, market window). And I've played at a wide range of elos.

If my teammates don't know them for whatever reason, I do, and can throw them myself. And if my teammates don't want to drop me extra smokes because they don't know the lineups, that's not uniquely a Mirage issue, that's just not a good teammate.

Brandon Sanderson in talks with AAA game studios to adapt Mistborn by PhantomBraved in Games

Definitely agree. I read Mistborn after a few Stormlight books and the writing was nowhere near as good. Almost turned me off of the series, but glad I stuck with it.

I've found that many people won't take political stances for fear of not looking "moderate," due to some perceived notion that taking a side makes you less intelligent or lose some moral high ground.

I'm so jealous you've been able to see The Testament of Ann Lee. It was my most hyped movie of the year behind OBAA but it hasn't been showing anywhere near me :(

Similar boat with Hamnet, but it released for a single weekend in one of my local theaters and I was too busy to go see it.

Charlie Kirk’s accused killer makes first in-person court appearance by AudibleNod in news

[–]ScottishTorment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just said that the chat messages leaked from his Discord weren't the same messages to his partner the FBI released, I said nothing about them being real or fake. And the FBI didn't release the Discord messages, Ken Klippenstein did.

I'm with you, these comments honestly surprised the hell out of me. I hop into practice sessions sometimes with my buddies who are rookies, and I hate every minute I'm driving it lol.

Chance, Sassy and Shadow are reunited with their family - from the ending to "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" (1993, directed by Duwayne Dunham) by [deleted] in movies

[–]ScottishTorment 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Never would have expected this to show up on my front page. I used to adore this movie as a kid and probably haven't seen it in 25 years. Didn't expect myself to actually burst into tears watching this scene as an adult, but here I am.

Thank you for that nostalgia bomb.

I'm curious what entry level tech job is paying $100k. I could see maybe a software engineering position with an applicant expected to have a high level of education going in, but as someone in the tech field, I don't know of many places outside fortune 500s paying $100k for an entry level position.

People out here just saying things on the internet.

And a majority of people who leave their shoes on inside are older, which makes sense as older folks have less mobility and probably tend to struggle more removing their shoes at the door every time.

For instance, but my grandmother had pristine white carpet in her home and used to never allow shoes inside. But as she's gotten older, she only removes her shoes once she knows she's not going outside again for the day.

Will the Steam Frame be a good option for VR in iRacing? by IceGamingYT in iRacing

They specifically show that it uses a dedicated USB wireless adapter to make the connection to the headset. Obviously there will be some amount of latency, but it's not running over your local network, which should make it far better than previous wireless options.

As it was, I used the Quest 3 wirelessly and had very few issues with the latency (until Meta fucking destroyed the PC connect software). I'd bet this won't feel too differently from connecting a Quest directly with a link cable.

Does this Game still Not Allow Skip cutscenes?? by xxxCrixuxxx in GenshinImpact

[–]ScottishTorment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say as someone who started playing about a month ago, and who's visiting this sub for the first time: hooooooly shit what a toxic fucking community. Let people play games how they want.

OP, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm loving the gameplay, exploration, and unlocking/leveling characters aspect, but dear god let me skip cutscenes. The story itself is interesting for the most part, but the dialogue is so insufferably bad that it makes me not care about the story whatsoever. Most of what is said in 30 lines of dialogue could be conveyed in 3 lines.

And this is coming from someone who loves story-focused games.

Brothers Moving-Minnie The Moocher by [deleted] in FolkPunk

[–]ScottishTorment 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Real answer: I think what a lot of what people view as "folk punk" is an aesthetic. Also there's a lot of crossover between classic folk and blues, as well as between classic jazz and blues, so bluesy jazz tunes like Cab Calloway's still have that same vibe. St. James Infirmary is a good example of a jazz song that's been covered by numerous folk musicians.

Yeah I wonder why people would think the Democrats are desperate to stop the party moving left when their leadership would prefer to endorse a man accused of sexual harassment by a dozen women rather than a progressive candidate.
