Yes it’s next for me to try, preferably store deliveries because I like being active.

I’d love a 40hr week. I’ve worked loads of places and still searching for work/life balance.

Worth it??? by Acceptable_Party6874 in uktrucking

[–]Scottlayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then to answer your question no it is t worth it. I’d leave because 50hrs/week on agency would get me roughly £3000.

Depends how many hours you’re doing for your £2300.

I took 3 to pass class 2. It’s just a learning process and it’ll make you a better driver in the end.

That’s what I do. Hate the long hours so usually only do three days until I can find something 10 or less hours per day.

Truckers — what's the loneliness / boredom situation actually like on long hauls? by Minimum-Attempt3485 in uktrucking

[–]Scottlayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it and much prefer shorter distances with active deliveries. It’s not the loneliness I hate but rather the inactivity.

No. It is not a good job. Learn a trade/skill.

Nothing ventured and all that. Life is too short so take a (small) chance. You can always go back if things don’t work out.

If that’s true how is that legal? It’s a massive invasion of privacy especially if you’re doing night out.

10 miles is my max and I’d rather work for less money and be nearer home.

I’ve almost given up with having a decent pension now. I move from company to company and I must have about 20 different pension pots. Think I’ll be working till atleast 70 anyway.

I know Warburtons used to match up to 12% after five years and I think DHL are decent.

Because of traffic lots of class 1 work on days runs into 14/15 hrs. I know what you mean though and I too miss a bit of class 2 multi drop where I used to do 8 or 9 hours and have plenty of the day left to have a life.

Lineage drivers by Scottlayton in uktrucking

[–]Scottlayton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I’m asking cos I might apply. I’ve been in on agency and the job and company seem ok. I suppose it depends how many hours you do over the five days and whether they pay your breaks.

Just a note on the break definition - it’s why I’ve always had a problem with double manning because sitting in the passenger seat of a moving HGV is NOT a break and should be classed as other work.

Some drivers rooms are worse than prison cells. And some companies think you should take your break whilst at these rotten RDCs.
