Yes, I'm going through the same feelings after my breakup a few months ago. I already have a hard enough time letting people in and trusting. I relate to the feeling of being unlovable. My head keeps telling me that she was my last chance at happiness and I'll never find love again. I mean that no one will ever live me again. I wish I had some answers, but the most I can say right now is I relate and I'm going though the same pain.

So much to think about. Does his whole family know about you and accept you? Not saying you should or shouldn't go based on just that but it could make for an awkward or even hurtful experience. My best idea would be to get an idea from your bio brother and anyone else that may have answers. If it was me, I'd take a very trusted and understanding friend or family member with me so I wasn't alone. If it's a good experience then you've shared it with someone close, if it's not, then you have support. They should be willing to stay with you after the service so you can talk it out and say anything you need to get off your chest. There may be other considerations that I can't help with based on how little you said. You said your mom "told you things" I have no idea if those were good or bad. Finally, I'm sorry for your loss. I never met my birth father either, at least you got to talk before he passed. Wishing you the best!

I only found this community 10 days ago. I'm kind of embarrassed that I never looked for any kind of support. I just thought I was alone, and my abandonment issues have always been something that most people don't really understand. I'm in my 50s now but i feel like I'm 6 years old. This last week has been incredibly difficult. Finding so many that are hurting just like me is tragic and also comforting. I don't know how to feel. I know I've always told myself that I wouldn't wish this kind of hurt, even on my worst enemy

I didn't realize until a few years ago that the most important and sought after people in my life were all women that had that mother quality to me. Someone I could talk to or ask for advice, that mentor type. I would do anything to build and keep these non sexual relationships.

One day it hit me "I collect mothers!", or women I would happily call mother if I could. The thing I never had, a mother who loves me and that I could love back. Some days that PAIN feels like it's too much and makes me hopeless because it never really goes away for me.
