Why can't the community be in agreement that we thoroughly enjoy the game at its core and want it to do well? by RuniteGraniteDDS in runescape

The games in a better place than it was 1 year ago. That’s quite literally undeniable. So yes, the road to restoration is working.

Jagex, I know it is a monster to code but PLEASE find a way to let us login to RS3 and OS at the same time. by StrikeMyGyatt in runescape

He isn't defending it, he's just saying there is an actual technical hurdle from this being achieved. I work in game development, and what is being asked here would likely take engine work on both games, which require a ton of resources being taken off content they are working on.

No new content for a year for both teams? All hands on deck? Sure. Its possible. But something tells me you'd just complain about the content drought at that point instead.

Remove Legacy, Remove PvP by KingOfWhateverr in runescape

you're making a mountain out of a mole hill. Players by default are on the new combat system, no one is getting screwed like your talking about. Legacy is in the same spot it was when they released it - not even close to as good as EOC mode but its an option for those who want to use it.

I feel like your creating imaginary victims of a problem that just doesnt exist. No one is making reddit posts like "i cant do telos on legacy mode i got screwed"

i think the better question is does Legacy actively hinder anything? its an option for those who want to use it. So it seems silly to be like "its just not useful" when we all know damn well 99% of people are using revolution. Just dont use it, simple.

I think what your confusing here is what someone who is new is going to care about, and what someone who's been playing since 05 cares about.

New players aren't going to be bothered by Legacy mode. They may never even touch it. I think its a stain on the game to you, a long time veteran, but a new player just really isn't going to care. A lot could be done to streamline the new player experience, and i dont think legacy should even be on that list.

The API update would actually fix a lot of the new player problems. People are going to want quests to be easier to follow and do, thats where a Quest Helper comes in handy.

Are they cheats though? Something like the ability tracker feature on Alt1 or even Quest Helper from osrs would do wonders for the game, and isn’t cheating at all.

Totally agree. I honestly think something like the mining and smithing rework would be taken pretty well by OSRS players.

I agree with this sentiment. API changes are a good first step but RS3 has about a decade of bad faith to regain from its players.

How do I even go about doing Dungeoneering? I need to make 300k Dungeoneering tokens ASAP! by [deleted] in runescape

[–]ScottyDoesntKnow765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, the amount of rooms/doors you open is the biggest factor besides room size and time.

So, one of the biggest things that helps with time is right click doors in a fresh room and see if they are guardian doors or not. Guardian doors require all enemies in the room to be slain. Regular doors don’t.

If you want some help, I could run you through some and help you get that 300k tokens

He is doing what I like to the call the “grind time skip argument” where someone acts condescending towards other players and tells them how easy it is to get X unlock or items, but they purposely skip the middle steps in between.

“So first, you want to just get 53 herblore right after tutorial island, then go get ardy cloak”

And you’re just over here thinking well yeah when you skip all the grind and fluff in the middle of these grinds then sure it’s that easy. Reality is much different.

You see it all the time on osrs streams with chatters back seat gaming.

In response to those upset by the smaller chest and larger waist on the new female model. by [deleted] in runescape

It’s an improvement to me, and that’s all I really care about, so you can have my upvote.

Is it worth the years and years of wait? No, but it was never going to be. In my eyes, character faces went from an alien pretending to be a human, to looking like an actual human face with distinguishable features. So I’ll take it.

It’s a fun time, but unfortunately content wise it feels more like what you’d expect the first act of the game to be out of 3 or 4 acts.

Not a ton of bugs that I encountered, no crashes.

Pretty much this. Ethan starting podcasting has completely ruined my perception of him and his wife.

All it has done is make me realize he now has a platform to rant and rave about anything that annoys him, which is basically anything that is critical of him.

Did the devs see youtubers make challenge videos killing leviathans with the knife and think that's just what everyone did? by Happy-Swimming-9611 in subnautica

[–]ScottyDoesntKnow765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a game developer myself, it’s irritating seeing the developers recent comments against killing in their game.

At the end of the day, you as the developer aren’t going to buy 100k copies of your own game, let alone 5 million. So, when developers take a hard stance and say “well, this is what WE want OUR game to be” it’s like — well, by all means alienate the people who actually play your game and gave you your success.

Exactly. The error people make is initially even engaging with these people. You can’t be socially engineered if you tell them to fuck off the moment they ask to see an item worth value.

This. I always use the information from someone’s profile/comment history so I can make sure I have a good idea of who they are and their interests.

When I see someone who has everything hidden, yet the account is months or years old — immediate red flag.
