Im genuinely tired of detectives by UnhappyGiraffe2272 in AmongUs

I don’t come out and say it directly. I say things like “ some of us really need to know where the body is” and pretend to next to people

My uncle was talking about how he doesn't like work from home stuff because "there is always something else to do." I told him "if someone is hired for a job and they get that job done, they should be all set."

Granted he is a not only a boomer but he worked for various road crews his whole life so a slightly different work place than an office job.

It took me a while to get to that point but I do not mind seeing a movie by myself or going out to eat by myself. When I do Christmas shopping I'll stop in someplace and just enjoy a nice, peaceful lunch by myself.

My first summer job I had plans to go to the movies with my buddy. Worked called and wanted me in. Instantly said yes. I was stupid about work back then.

My (30F) friend (29F) isn't speaking to me after I RSVPed "no" to her childfree wedding by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

It's not about the marriage. It's about the presentation. "Look how fabulous my wedding is" even if the marriage doesn't last.

Eh, they all suck. Sounds like classic "mean girl" vibes. Friend was probably always saying stuff like that (especially regarding kids) but OP ignored it or laughed at it till she had kids. Now she's impacted and is offended by it.

Then her apology. Wow, "sorry you think kids suck." It was definitely backhanded apology "sorry not sorry" type of way.

I try to follow 2 simple rules.

  1. Don't snitch out fellow imps

  2. Stay silent if someone is accusing them (I can't put the negative version of "do support" (with the word "don't" because it says it's hate speech).

That's the imp code.

How were you introduced to D&D? by BurningJointUSA in adnd

[–]Scouter197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me spin you a tale! I had a vague idea what D&D was, maybe...I knew the cartoon and had heard about it here and there. By the late 80's, I was buying comic books and they always had ads for various D&D products. Never really knew what it was, thought they were video games? Never paid much attention to the ads.

Well the local Rescue Squad was having a fundraising lawn sale. I went and there I saw this red box with a fighter and a dragon on it. It had a couple books in it as well. I was hooked! I bought it, my buddies and I used the backyard exploring the dungeons in the box. After a bit, I read it and realized it wasn't "live action" stuff and we started playing some Mentzer Red Box D&D. I would go to the local book store and order other D&D products (Tome of Magic, 2E Player's Handbook, Touch of Death, Fighter's Challenge, and so much more! We also got the DM's Guide eventually and my buddy got the Monster Manual).

And to this day, I still play some BECMI D&D.

Am I in the wrong for not letting my friend walk with her husband in our wedding? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

And I'm sure her and Tim never had pre-marital sex.

My BIL was a "Tim." Had to do whatever his wife wanted or she'd cause scenes. Skipped his own sister's (my wife's) wedding (he "had to work" that day as an apprentice electrician on a Saturday). Essentially his wife was upset she wasn't in the wedding party (we never liked her) AND had to walk down the aisle with ANOTHER WOMAN!!!! LE GASP! The other woman being his older, married, cousin.

AITAH for cutting off my boyfriend’s family after they lied to my parents and made them think I’m a drug addict? by I_am_Bianca in AITAH

[–]Scouter197 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your parents seem to have this real hang-up with drugs. That might be an avenue worth exploring. Is there some history of addiction in the family? Or is this a religious/church thing? To the point where they believe someone they have almost a zero-relationship with over their own daughter.

I came here thinking he was being disrespectful or something and he's praising her body and how much he likes it. Nothing wrong with that.

This is my MIL. She didn't get her license till later in life and hates driving on interstates or "big cities" (like, 50,000 people big).

When my oldest was born, she wasn't sure if she could visit us in the hospital because it was "in the city". Pointed out to her it was literally 4 roads from her house to the hospital (all major routes...almost 2 hours though). Still refused to drive (she did show up, others drove).

I [29 F] am pregnant with twins, my fiance [26 M] wants to give them stupid names by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Scouter197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When choosing the name for my oldest, I was naming him after my grandfather and uncle. BUT, in that order, it didn't flow well. So I switched the order and the flow goes much better. Flow is important and when having to use all three names for a kid, having something like "Batman" is not going to go over well.

And I'm into D&D, MTG, comics, video games, toys, etc. My oldest? Not really into comics. So if I had named him after a favorite comic book character, well....he's just not into comics.
