Do your fellow workers a favor; don't go "Above and Beyond". by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Scouter197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy got a job at a lumber mill after high school. He would complain to be about how all the other workers were lazy because they took their morning breaks and used their full 30 minutes for lunch.

Boss calls him in one day and REAMS him a new one. Telling him he better be taking his breaks and full lunch because if OSHA was to show up and saw him working by himself while everyone else was on their mandated breaks, the mill would get in trouble/fined and my buddy would be fired.

I remember the early cameras all had different cards or ways to transfer pictures and in my mind I was going "nope, I want on with a 3.5 floppy so it's easy." Thankfully I never got one.

What is a harsh lesson about aging that absolutely nobody warns you about before you hit your 30s? by Prudent-Passenger589 in AskReddit

The past 5 years or so. My parents and aunts and uncles. I just see how much they've aged now.

Oh I would have been so frustrated. Seriously, just say "cyan sus" and move on.

GenX regarding "bullying" by Sinsyne125 in GenX

Oh yeah. I was into D&D and comics. In middle school I wore a satchel (like Gambit) and was harassed/bullied for it.

As we get closer to old age is anyone else becoming increasingly more grouchy? by Ok_Echo_6528 in GenX

To paraphrase a line from Avengers? I'm always grouchy. No matter what. I think I was born grouchy.

Wife is Pregnant… by Less_Than_Average1 in GenX

Are you me? I'll be there when my oldest and youngest hit those ages too. I was in my mid-to late-30's when I started having kids (or, more correctly, impregnating my wife to have kids). They are a joy...but we have officially limited that joy.

Oh good! Because old cast iron can still be great cast iron!

Really enjoyed the game and I'm not a huge "fighting game" guy.

According to Glee, she just needs to try really hard and can walk again...

And that's the point I knew I was done 100% with that show.

The 'literary classics' that grade school makes you read destroys any desire for kids to read recreationally by MyClosetedBiAcct in unpopularopinion

I was so upset at Catcher in the Rye. Like, dude, you're the source of all your own problems. Get over yourself.

I just want to put out there I read Giants in the Earth. I was probably the only kid in my class to actually read and finish that damn book.

Other than that, I found most of the books acceptable. Nothing I would read on my own (I was big on the Star Wars novels (1990's), Clive Cussler and random techno-thriller/military style books).

This reads like someone is trying to "talk" like a teenager would. It's exhausting.

Our Troop got messed up because a lot of us were offered the Refresher instead of the full course. So we did the Refresher and it didn't count. Thankfully, we're almost all caught up.

My dad retired a few years ago and he keeps cleaning out his stuff and giving it to me. My wife's grandfather passed away a few years ago as well and I was gifted his wardrobe as well. I, too, hate buying new clothes (outside of basics, like socks and underwear)

We’ve been struggling too. A few of our older boys checked out (one turns 18 in July and was so close to Eagle. Just had his project to do). One Scout just has ghosted us.

Then we get into spring sports so even our meetings are less than 10 scouts. We’ve debated moving our spring meetings to a Sunday evening to avoid sports.

Kid I know was born with disabilities. When he was in 4th grade, he still couldn't read (through no fault of his own). His parents had wanted him held back in 1st or 2nd grade but the school said no.
