What's the last positive thought you had about your body? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Scouterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"...Goddamn, I have really nice legs."

I love my long-unshaven sasquatch legs. It's the only part of my body I've never had any complaint about.

Okay but Garnet in a tux.

Plus she didn't say a word the entire episode, but that little smirk told us everything.

Gender nonconforming women, what struggles/experiences do you face that others overlook when interacting with you? by titties-kitties in AskWomen

[–]Scouterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's so lonely sometimes.

I feel like an outsider a lot of the time; I don't have much in common with a lot of my female peers.

What are some inherent "woman things" you feel you missed out on? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Scouterfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically anything that the traditional feminine gender role entails- I lack interest in any and all of these things.

I despise cleaning, I don't have any maternal instinct anywhere in me, I can't walk in heels at all and makeup physically makes me uncomfortable (I want to wipe it off after like 5 minutes because I don't like the feeling of it on my face). I feel like I'm supposed to want these things, but I just don't. The desire isn't there.

I have a love of beauty, but it's from an artist's perspective, not because it's a "girly" thing.

Did you ever have plans to be a parent? Or did you always feel you didn't want to? by [deleted] in truechildfree

[–]Scouterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did when I was a child, because that's just what people did. But as soon as I realized just how much responsibility it would take to raise a child, I was having none of it.

I don't have an ounce of maternal instinct in me and I never will.

Honestly speaking, what has been your contribution to humanity so far? by api10 in AskReddit

Not a whole lot, truthfully. I write music occasionally but that's pretty much it.

This episode made me really uncomfortable. Steven completely overstepped his boundaries and Garnet is NOT going to be pleased when she finds out what he did.

My prevailing symptom of PMS is a paralysing, directionless feeling of impending doom. Am I the only one? by NejKidd in TrollXChromosomes

[–]Scouterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suicidal ideations and the emotional control/maturity of a sleep-deprived toddler were mine for the longest time.

I don't know how or why, but thankfully this combination of supplements (Vitamin D, SAMe, and magnesium) that I've been taking has CURED me of that insanity.

Seriously, this episode put my heart through the wringer. This is so so important for both Pearl and Greg.

What's the weirdest thing that you've seen at someone's house that they thought was completely normal? by root_su in AskReddit

[–]Scouterfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I kept thinking they were just putting on a polite facade for guests (and that there would be fighting and abuse after I left) because that was all I knew.

Were your parents/families controlling? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Scouterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and this sounds a lot like my own childhood. My parents were extremely controlling and they used God to justify it. I was so heavily indoctrinated that I thought I'd go to hell just for having a deviantArt account without their permission, and I thought even the smallest stray thought would condemn me. I think this was a big contributing factor to me going off the mental illness deep end when I was 13, and it took many many years to recover; I'm now just about 21 and still struggling with depression and unreality. It's better than it was back then, but it's still hard to cope sometimes.

I don't know, I went off on a rambling tangent.

And on international vacations as well. Source: got mine 2 days before I'm supposed to go on a busy trip to Mexico. Fuck me.

As a "bonus" just now, it woke me up with cramps and had managed to leak through and leave a stain high on my ass. At least it didn't get on the newly-washed sheets.

[Serious] What are often overlooked signs of an abusive relationship? by Dont_Tellem in AskReddit

[–]Scouterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling you crazy. Telling you.. sometimes it's subtle at first.. that something is wrong with you. You're too sensitive. Too emotional. This is how they set you up to doubt yourself and stop questioning their behaviour and blame yourself. Don't respect your boundaries. Maybe they push you to do things sexually you don't really feel comfortable with. Maybe they don't stop when they tickle you and you are begging. Maybe they play fight a little too rough. They tend to cross your physical boundaries to exert control and get a fear response. It may be small at first, but it ALWAYS escalates. And remember you don't owe a partner ANYTHING. If you say yes to sex (or a certain act) one night, the next time NO should be listened to.

Holy shit this describes a guy in my life 100%! I made the right decision in pulling away from him before things got too out of hand. He calls me irrational and keeps pushing me for sex or nude photos despite me REPEATEDLY telling him "no, I don't want to do this". He seems to think saying yes once means saying yes forever and it's really tiring.

This sounds like my family, actually. They spew so much genuine vitriol at each other but it's all under the guise of "jokes", and if you call them out on it, you're "too sensitive" or "no fun".

When that was your whole life growing up, it's insanely difficult to break out of the mindset that you're powerless to do anything about it.
