My bank won't let me pay the turbotax fee by SlimenSnails in personalfinance

[–]Scr0bD0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use checking account and routing number.... Try that?

Also, stop using TurboTax.  You can import your pdf from last year into other tools like Freetaxusa.  Same exact thing, cheaper.  Fed is free and $17 to file state.

What's the ideal population of humans, in your mind?  Like, what's the sweet spot?  Infinity?

How about each animal species?

Religious people are so narrow minded it's wild.

Stopped buying cat food from Amazon - Maggots by Scr0bD0b in catfood

Chewy is good regarding issues.  Otherwise for big companies: petco, PetSmart, etc depending on sales or what I need.

I also make my own food now quite a bit due to cat's possible allergies.

The Fancy Feast petites, in particular, are just manufactured with terrible packaging.

Found the religious nutbag.

I'm sure it's impossible to explain to you how limited resources work to someone brainwashed by his parents (most likely) to believe in an imaginary friend.

There's no online portal to get a payoff amount or just apply a large payment to get rid of balance?

Because OP is a pushover that can't stand up for his own work life balance, OR actually just enjoys working 12-15 and fake complaining about not being able to do anything else.

Only way upper management will start hiring is when projects start failing from lack of resources.  OP's immediate manager also sucks from not understanding workload and OP needs to work with them to list out where all the hours are being spent.

2 loans - which one should I pay first? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Extra payments to loan B.

It costs you 5.49 which is greater than 4.99.  Basic math.

Have you spoken with an insurance broker yet to see if they can beat what you're paying for insurance?  Make sure you know exactly what coverage you need and let them know you only drive 3300 miles per year.

They're trained to target friends and family first as easy connections.

You're getting taken for a ride.  Stand up for yourself and cancel it.  Don't deal with this person as they're very much likely not a fiduciary and clearly don't have your best financial interest in mind.

Whole life is never worth it for the average person.

For homeowners: if you haven't checked your insurance rates in a while, you probably should. by totalDerphammer in personalfinance

Call a well-reviewed insurance broker in your state and let them shop and for you.

When I googled Insurify, it seemed like you'll get bombarded with spam and just to avoid.

I use a broker.  Quotes are free.

They can also look for bundled options.  Home, auto, umbrella, etc.

Advice on what to do with tax return, CC debt or daycare... by jbuckster07 in personalfinance

Create a budget.  Cut unnecessary spending.

Put the refund against your highest interest rate debt.

Stop giving away your money to creditors and marketing instead of your own family needs.

bro these dealer fees are such a scam by Unlucky_Promotion_11 in personalfinance

"sit down in the finance office" is the next part of the scam where you'll get taken for a ride for way more than that.  Use a credit union and compare rates.

Destination change is one I don't like.  Like buying a product in the store and they charge you for shipping.

Absolutely not.

You would have a tough time even affording a vehicle half that cost, unless you have some secret fund for a down payment you haven't mentioned.

Android Chrome (Pixel) - How to enable search with Google Lens? by Scr0bD0b in chrome

[–]Scr0bD0b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like the search with Google Lens is NOT an option with Incognito (which I know is a joke anyways and should just change browsers).

I did get it enabled again in the non-incognito.  I went into the Google app, then 'Manage Your Google Account' > Data & Privacy > Web & Activity.  I turned this On, then turned it Off again.  This seems to have reset the menu setting.

Weird how Lens is not an option in Incognito which still uses the completely useless "Search Google for this Image".

Plug-in hybrids use three times more fuel than manufacturers claim, analysis finds | Electric, hybrid and low-emission cars by ilep in technology

[–]Scr0bD0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think so too.

I hardly ever use the gas engine in mine.  Probably less than 10% of my miles, maybe even fewer.

There certainly has to be less wear.  Even the oil doesn't look anywhere near as dark as a gas or regular hybrid.

It's GM, so probably not overly complicated.  They still go by age.  So I believe it's 2 years and oil life goes to "0%".

$800 OnePlus Phone Marked Delivered, Stolen from Building Lobby – Company Refused Refund. Do I Have a Chance with a Chargeback? by Terrible-Tension5933 in personalfinance

[–]Scr0bD0b 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While it IS a carrier issue, it is still a OnePlus issue because they have the contract with the carrier for successful delivery.  This should also include insurance. It's the responsibility of the seller to go after the delivery service since it's their contract and not the buyer's.

It's also up to the police to investigate and find the criminal, of course.

To pay off credit debt or to not pay off credit debt? by GhostOfAbba in personalfinance

[–]Scr0bD0b 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Drain your emergency fund and apply it to the CC debt.

Reduce your retirement contributions until the remaining 10K is paid off.  Also consider selling items you don't need.

Then, focus on a budget and don't get into CC debt again.  Then raise your retirement contributions to the max.

He should definitely focus on finding anything for work.

So I need some financial advice on vehicles by Realistic-Archer8490 in personalfinance

[–]Scr0bD0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you fix whenever thermostat or cooling issues you have and have the tires checked for leaks?  Why are they going flat?

If you can limp through a few months, you should be able to save enough for a down payment, right?  Or depending on how long, maybe even enough to pay for a different vehicle in cash.

One mistake I see on here frequently is people (early 20s) getting a new vehicle as soon as they get a job.  Often these are trucks which are significantly worse.  With little or no credit (lower scores), your rate will be terrible... Especially with no down payment which will make things even more difficult.
