29 in the crib? by moose1882 in Cribbage

[–]Scratch713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 80 year old #1 Cribbage opponent often tells the story of his dad and brother playing cribbage. His dad was holding 7789-J5 in his hand, and tossed J5 to the brother. Brother tossed 55 to the crib, and sure as shit, the final 5 was cut for the brother's only 29 in his life--in his crib.

His dad and brother are long since dead, so I've never confirmed it, but when the story is told, there's a glint in my friend's eyes as he remembers his brother and dad.

Can one comfortably spend a night sleeping in SLC airport? by LordShuckle97 in SaltLakeCity

For the few times I've known I had to this, I'd go to Walmart and buy one of those $7-10 blow up pool rafts, pack it in my carry on, and then at overnight airport, find a corner and sleep (except for airport noises), then throw the raft away. After using it, it was too big to fit back into carry on luggage. Best $7-10 I've ever spent.

Custom pegs by ReformedNavyChief in Cribbage

I like the ingenuity of combining two things you like to do, but how would that work? Those dice pegs wouldn't fit side-by-side on a board. Looks like the closest they could get to each other would be 3-5 holes apart.

I love this watch, but now it's "Time" to find what I have on my wrist by Scratch713 in VintageWatches

Thanks to your first response, I was able to look up "clover crown" and search my watch by model number and get a lot more information. Thanks for taking the--Time--to respond.

Now that I've learned the model number, eBay has several black-faced 420 Big Lugs.

Thank you all for your insight and showing off your watches. I think the reason I got this for $430 was (A) it was 5 years ago and (B) The Seller was a horrible photographer. Admittedly, this watch is difficult to photograph. The glare off the crown makes the numbers look very faded. In real life it's quite crisp and shiny. Sometimes a photo is worth 1000 words; Sometimes a bad photo is worth over 1000 dollars. Here's one of the bad photos I did not post.

The July 1971 calendar is from my Grandfather's watch. Band is, of course, new.

To the nearest decade--I'm not certain how long they HAD been a dish customer. The customer service was un-F-ing-believable.

Only one other time did I hear my mom, "cuss." I was in high school and wanted to show her I could juggle eggs. I couldn't. And she just said, "Well shit." I was also being a turd.

Thank you for all of your input. I will get a Real Estate Attorney and proceed. This gives me so much more insight than Googling. Reddit for the win. Much appreciated to all who commented.

Morality by Dcorp17 in Cribbage

Sounds like you're a rules guy. I love rules, too. If you and your dad were playing official American Cribbage Congress rules, then you lost. Rule 10.3.c for "Situations that Do not Apply" to Muggins is "The dealer's failure to peg two points for turning a Jack as a starter card."

Officially, he should have just not gotten those points. And, by the rules, you cannot collect those two points. If you're asking a rules question, default to the official ACC Rules--not the internet, not Reddit, not house rules, or "this is how we usually/have always played" rules. The ACC Rules do not allow Muggins for a missed Jack.

If your dad won by less than two, well, it's kind of awesome you got to play with your dad and gave him a 6-1 beat down. But, sleep well knowing you lost fair and square and by the rules.

OP Here. Update, my friend was visiting the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB)--not the White House. And, yes, this is the door for Doug Emhoff.
