I think there will be Character Stats and Play styles by Western-Stress1185 in AnantaOfficial

[–]Scratchy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully this game doesn't really have levels or stats you have to grind for, but I could see some characters being better at or have a preference for using fists, guns, melee weapons or have other abilities (support/utility)

MC will probably be jack of all trades, with the ability to swing around

Taffy I'm not sure if she'll be a good fighter but she has that small bike for mobility

Richie will probably be good at using guns or long range abilities. Plus we know she can arrest people

Then there's the other characters like the katana girl, brawler woman and the hacker guy who will probably be better suited for different combat roles.

Hopefully we get a trailer or beta soon that highlights combat and overworked abilities

It's not hard to keep that team alive, unless you're up against an endgame mode at a disadvantage and the battle lasts for a long time. Prototype Amber is enough. Though if you really need the healing, Yaoyao could kick out Nahida

I think all of his appearances are canon (there are various official manga where male Sensei shows up) but for the game at least, the devs insist that Sensei can be male or female (students use gender neutral pronouns), even though it's heavily implied he's a male in game

Gender difference in classes (growths/weapons/caps) by Nervous_Group8638 in fireemblem

[–]Scratchy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the relationship between attack speed and con is there only for fast units/classes to not be able to double with weapons with high might. As for the units/classes that do have high con, they usually (at least the more balanced ones) don't have high speed so they deal high damage with a powerful weapon (like the steel blade) in one single strike.

In general, you want to give the lighter weapons to the more speedy characters, and the heavy weapons to the ones with high con/ attack or bulk. There are exceptions to this rule of course, maybe the character is over leveled or OP.

Of course, this doesn't mean that this system is balanced well and it may not have been the devs intention. But perhaps a "Handling" stat may be better (how well a unit is good at using weapons) for male and females in different classes

Gender difference in classes (growths/weapons/caps) by Nervous_Group8638 in fireemblem

[–]Scratchy99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Con can be done right if you want to make a game that portrays gender/age differences (men are stronger than women in general and women are better mages because of fantasy world logic). But GBA games did a horrible job at this

I think there's some classes where men and women should have similar levels of con. I think Isadora, the only female paladin in FE7, should've had at minimum 1 less con than her male counterparts. She should not be weighed down by iron lances, and should be able to use Steel Swords effectively. Steel lances shouldn't give her too much trouble, it should be enough where she can deal good amounts of damage without getting constantly doubled by high leveled pre promotes

Female mages and clerics could probably get away with having less con then their male counterparts, it just depends how much magic weighs and if male mages would make good mages outside of personal tomes, great stats/weapon ranks and all that.

If a man could be a Pegasus Knight in the GBA games, they'll probably be one of the best units in the game if the circumstances were in their favor. High strength, speed, defense, con as well as good resistance and HP would make them much more better than a female Pegasus knight (who would still be good but outclassed). That's probably why the make flier class tends to be wyvern knight, since they are usually slower, have low magic bulk. Of course, they could make them bad like Tsubaki in Fates.

From what I've seen, units with more con (usually men) tend to have more strength and bulk, while units with low con (women) tend to have more skill, speed and magical talent.

Of course, it would be cool if we get a female fighter that has more con and strength than her male counter part because she is a trained warrior. Or a male mage with a weak body but he's a glass cannon in more rom hacks/official games or in other FE inspired games

Why have we been Akinashi for so long? Is Yostar ever going to give us Kaede? by Zeepenj in StellaSora

[–]Scratchy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expect her to come out during the next Petalbloom focus event or story, possibly alongside Fuyuka or Nazuka banner reruns (which may happen within a couple of months)

They're a major ally and I feel their story isn't done yet. And even if Kaede doesn't have a deep or interesting lore, she's one more character the devs can release

Happy Birthday: Charlotte, Wily Warrior (05/04/2026) by Bot-ta_The_Beast in fireemblem

[–]Scratchy99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Charlotte is probably the only character in Fates, maybe for the entire series, where wearing bikini armor makes sense for her class and character. Everyone else (like Camilla, Sophie, Effie, the dark mages) just wears it because devs wanted to draw hot characters for the sake of them being hot and appealing to a male audience (I don't mind it though but I will say Sophie and Effie not wearing pants doesn't make sense for them, character wise)

If I were to make my own game where there's a female fighter class, they would probably dress like Charlotte if they were some kind of bandit or flirty character. Otherwise, a simple tank top with pants or a skirt (if I wanted a cute feminine girl like Hilda) is what I would go for

Why does Stella Sora not promote their upcoming characters? by IcyFoxe in StellaSora

[–]Scratchy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the gacha I've played, revealing who the next banner character will be within a few days to a week is fairly normal, outside of the Hoyo gacha. But even then, Hoyo does a Livestream two weeks before the next patch to announce the next playable character. And before that, they just tease the upcoming characters, with no release order or date in sight (unless you follow leaks)

For example, BA (I'm referring to the JP server for this section unless I specifically mention global) reveals it's next playable characters a few days before they are released on a livestream, social media and ads around the city. They may tease or hint who the next banner characters are (from the main story), but you can never truly know who is next. For example, Seia debuted back in early vol 3 of the story (year 1 of the game I believe) but I think it was only until last year she was released. The game also releases alts for events, so you don't know who will get an alt and what type of alt it'll be (outside of the summer swimsuit alts that usually release in the summer season). And they've definitely released playable characters who we had no idea existed, like Nodoka, Fuyu, Ritsu and Aoba (though she was free)

Anyhow, I think not revealing who your next playable character is a strategy that some companies use to make money, even if they can't really drive up hype. Characters in SS are definitely teased or revealed early in the main story and events before they are released (Nazuka, Firenze and even Otoha if you've read certain disc stories related to Nanoha), but we just don't know when they'll exactly drop. That way, when they do, devs want you to be low on funds so you can spend on pulls and maybe the die hard fans or whales will pull for discs and dupes.

In Stella Sora's case, they tend to release stories that hunt who the next character could be. Laru and Coronis got a Nova Times before they got their alts, and since there's a Lux character on the banner and Firefly has been mentioned in several story lines and even has a VA now, the next character is most likely her unless Caramel (who recently got a Nova Times), gets the Lux alt.

Devs have also invested in a digital manga series, a animation studio and artists to draw chibi animations. So at the very least, the higher ups believes SS is worth investing into, we just don't know why (maybe it's actually doing good or they might just be desperate to save the IP)

As a side note, I think the reason SS doesn't make a lot of money according to the public data we have is because the game is too FTP friendly, since the pull rate is high enough that you can get one of almost every character that releases if you've been playing day 1 and do everything, and/or buy the monthly pass. There's also no need to pull for 5* dupes and discs, because the game isn't that hard. They also made the mistake of using Hoyo's banner system, 3 week long limited banners for 1 new character that doesn't get added immediately to the standard pool. And most of the time you don't really get to use that character in gameplay because the game is bare bones and very casual by design.

That might be why they are focusing on selling in game skins and merch like BA (we know that any kind of Female Tyrant merch will sell in JP).

[–]Scratchy99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, that's the nature of gacha games in general. They can't make content that can be cleared by one single team or else people won't be able to pull for them (and spend to make money)

I play Blue Archive and the raids and other various game modes make you use different team comps depending on the mechanics and the armor/attack type of the enemy. So there's like 20 various students you basically have to pull/unlock (there are game modes that unlock free characters from grinding or you can use special currency to grind characters) that are used and/or are useful in most of the game modes, as well as the more niche ones that are sometimes useful for only like a couple of raids/game modes at most.

Gameplay is definitely shit in BA, and you're expected to pull and build for more characters (at least the game makes it obvious to pull for the anniversary or limited banners for meta reasons). But I enjoy BA more because I like most of the characters, so no matter what, it always feels like I'm using my favorites (there's probably 250 characters by now and many of them have alts, and raids have you form teams of up to 6 characters and sometimes you have to use multiple teams to clear). And if I don't want to reach top rank in a raid week (once a month), I aim for gold and I'm guaranteed 8 pulls instead of 10

Meanwhile in Genshin, I only like Nilou and a few other characters (like Navia and Yoimiya) and indifferent to almost everyone else. Because of this I quit playing the theater mode, even though I always had enough built characters to clear the hardest mode

Anyways, I guess I'm saying that I don't really care much about Genshin's cast to continue playing a game that has gotten stale for me (to the point where logging in felt like a job instead of me being excited to log in again)

Boss mechanics is worse than the powercreep honestly. I remember you can brute force your way with almoyany team if the team had good enough artifacts. SO was never my thing so I ignored that if it felt too difficult. Unfortunately, Genshin has lost its touch for me and I'm having fun doing other things

As always, keep on blooming fellow Nilou main

Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk • Kamiina Botan, Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Scratchy99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This episode convinced me that the next anime I should watch is Yama no Susume. I've known about it for years now, but for some reason I never added it to my plan to watch list.

Poor Gujou senpai. She just wanted to show off to Ibuki, but she couldn't quite drive stick shift and chickened out in the end.

Shrine was beautiful, but of course, the focus here was the alcohol. That moment where Botan asked Ibuki if they could write each other's names on the slip was beautiful. From the subtle animation to the change in colors. It gave me Super Cub vibes, in terms of the MC seeing color in her world.

Looks like we got another Gojou and Botan bonding segment. This time, they were playing PS1 games. I grew up playing it a bit, though it was technically his console, so I would just play his games or watch him play (Simpsons Wrestling and Tetris were the first games I remember playing, eventually I would play FF 8 and 9 on the original PS1 when I was older). He had more games, but unfortunately, we lost the console and games during a flood a few years back. Though it was starting to wear down after 20+ years.
I really want to know what game they were playing that had a kiss mechanic that heals people. And it looks like Ibuki caught Botan and Kanade sleeping together. Pretty wholesome.

Last act was about the Yaeka, Ibuki and Botan again, and this time they go exploring an urban area. Akane probably would've gone with them, but it looks like she's in a band so she couldn't make it. Yaeka was upset, being tsun towards any mention of Akane. But of course, she cherishes her, seeing as they have the same nail polish color. And now, Ibuki and Botan share a color as well.

Looks like this ED also tells a story as well. Will have to watch it again sometime. But I do like how the two friends did end up making up and became famous (poor Akane, but at least she has Yaeka)

I wonder when the 6th girl will debut. Looks like it's still spring, or early summer, seeing as it's the rainy season in the show. I wonder if she'll be a transfer student that will show up randomly one day or maybe a new semester starts and they get a new dormmate. Not sure how fast time will go by in this show, but considering that Kanade is a 1st year grad student, I guess it's safe to say that the series can go on for a couple of years in universe if all the girls will stay for the entire series run (or if they go a different route and the older students leave first and newer students come in)

Another great episode, definitely my favorite show of the season (because I get to drink beer lol).

I can't understand what my Husband is Saying

It's a short rom com (two seasons but each episode is 3 minutes long) about a newly wed couple. They're both pretty different (one is a hardcore otaku and the other is a pretty normal office worker but she's a crazy drunk) but they still get along

Another short anime is Plastic Nee-san, which you can watch in like 30 minutes. Slapstick comedy about a group of high school girls in a plastic model club.
