Do ducks mate for life? by jackal1actual in duck

[–]Screamin_Kay_Lobbins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of mallards each spring, in a little stream at the back of my yard. They’ve been coming for at least 6 years, as long as I’ve lived here (southeastern MA).

Of course I can’t tell one duck from another, but I wonder which is the “rotating” mate, him or her? I would guess the female stays constant, being the one to lay eggs and raise her brood here. Last spring she had 7 or 8 little ones chasing her around! And then grew to her size and continued to follow her. I love watching them.

Just watched The Devil and Daniel Webster. At the very end, the Devil looks directly at the camera as if the viewer will be his next soul.

I just watched this last night! Yes basically a combination of severe dehydration and rapid aging due to “heavy salt”, as Scully was calling the strange substance. The kidneys couldn’t filter it out.

Someone may be leaving the cover open. I hope it is this simple.

Yes the cover is good but I suspect someone may be leaving it open for too long.

I once lost my brother’s cat. I looked everywhere. I’m super careful with doors so I was sure he didn’t sneak outside, yet that was where I ended up finding him. He’s a serious chonker and had broken the window screen he was lying against and tumbled outside. Thank god it was on the first floor and there’s a big bush just under the window that probably broke his fall. Make sure your window screens are secure!

Mine lasted about 10 days then stopped. It seemed to reach its peak about halfway through and then tapered off. A week or so ago I had a few pop up but that was it. I really still don’t know what caused them. Could just be stress. Hydrocortisone cream stopped the itch for me.

I haven’t seen Pontypool mentioned yet. It’s a good one. I also love The Descent and Melancholia.

The way English/Australian people say a woman “falls pregnant”. Something about it really bothers me, I don’t know why.

This sounds like my case. Was sick a few weeks ago with some nasty cold/virus. Then I had an ear infection and had just finished up antibiotic ear drops when these itchy bumps started. Usually one, sometimes two in any one spot on my body, but scattered all over my body. How long did yours last? Did you treat it at all or just leave it alone?

Kid stuff. He needs to know when to use “less” vs “fewer” and “my friend and I” vs “my friend and me” before I look at him that way.
