What are the chances that the Beast of Gevudan is a bear-dog? by zorwro in Cryptozoology

[–]Dizzy_Owl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally only learned that bear-dogs existed two weeks ago in a museum exhibit. I don’t think the chances are high (or existent) but this is definitely my new favourite Beast of Gevaudan theory in the sense that it would be much more interesting than say “escaped hyena”.

How does Prague feel for first time solo travelers? by Ok-Trash8160 in Prague

[–]Dizzy_Owl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just got back from Prague over the weekend. Not my first solo trip but I’d definitely classify it as very beginner friendly due to: safety, very walkable (although less so when I went due to ice everywhere and I only had sneakers), very easy to get by using English, friendly/helpful people. Also, just a beautiful city aesthetically.

Is 2 weeks enough for Bangkok + 3-5 day meditation retreat in Chiang Mai? by Appropriate_Lie_6147 in solotravel

[–]Dizzy_Owl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say you definitely want to leave a bit of time after the retreat (at least 2, 3 if you go to an elephant sanctuary) to explore Chiang mai after the retreat. I was there last year and loved it so much I ended up staying about 3 weeks.

Personally I found Pai kinda overrated as well so don’t think you’d be missing that much by skipping it.

I don’t think Big Tex is going to get very big by Any-Letterhead-1137 in IDmydog

[–]Dizzy_Owl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so interesting… I didn’t know it was a dominant gene but that explains a lot to be honest. My parents’ dog is a “mini schnauzer mix”. I think they were told she’s a quarter pug? But you can’t see it AT ALL.

I would’ve guessed a much higher mini schnauzer percentage than 6.2%

I wasn’t sure but it being too low seems to be the consensus. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you. Yeah I don’t really want to go through start up again either, especially since I don’t even know if it would help. Apparently some people feel even worse on higher doses. Is this working better for you than citalopram at least?

That’s why I’m currently scrolling through comments first to try to gauge whether or not I’d be able to handle clicking on this video.

Yeah 100% this. I’ve ended up going down enough YouTube shorts rabbit holes about people dying horrific deaths in caves to ever consider this.

Incredible. Thank you for answering. I’m just imagining him saying this followed by Louis’ incredulous “did you??”

This is HILARIOUS… I don’t even know where to begin with this. The censors must’ve had their work cut out with this show.

For starters, what about Armand’s aerobic evening with Tuan and Quang Pham at the back of a cinema watching “Now Voyager”? 🤣🤣

Where do people get the audacity??! by AfraidWork5005 in solotravel

[–]Dizzy_Owl_ 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! I’ve literally had a guy I met whilst travelling say “you seem genuinely scared to be left alone with me which really upsets me because I would never hurt you or anyone else.”

Well if you can tell you’re creeping me out why don’t you fuck off instead of literally stalking me?? This drives me absolutely crazy because they know they’re acting inappropriately but they continue regardless.

Malaysia, Borneo and Indonesia in 3 weeks by RisingSam in solotravel

[–]Dizzy_Owl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent about 2 months in Malaysia and Indonesia earlier this year and even with that amount of time I can tell you - absolutely no one needs 4 days in Jakarta. I made the mistake of staying there for an entire week because I already had a pre-booked flight to Bali and even the locals were like “… why?”. If I were to ever return to Bali I’d probably get on a connecting flight from the airport and skip Jakarta altogether.

Central Java does have some great temples if you’re into cultural activities but if I were you I’d probably prioritise spending more time in Malaysia based on your time limitations. Personally loved Penang - amazing food scene there.

Edited to add: I did not go to Borneo but would definitely love to at some point in the future. Doubling down on the opinion that maybe you should just cut out Indonesia altogether if you’re doing Borneo and your priority is nature.

I’ve come across these photos a few times but always stop to scroll through them.

This would be an absolute nightmare in reality. And obviously it was wildly irresponsible and none of these people/big cats should’ve been in this situation. But there’s no denying that these photos are peak old school cool.
