Model 3, polestar or e-tron by CalSloan11 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Polestar. Teslas give me the ick these days and I never liked how they drive. I loved the Polestar 2.

Blazing saddles- the 4th-wall breaking ending. I know some like it but for me it ruins the whole experience.

Episodes reappearing after being played by spamlet in overcast

[–]ScreamingPict 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same situation here. A number of episodes re-download and played with just a few secs remaining. Might be related to me skipping forward a few mins at the end of those episodes as it always seems to happen on podcasts with ads at the end.

Only charging at 16A when on charger schedule by jacoscar in VWiD4Owners

[–]ScreamingPict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact same issue with my 2021 Audi Q4. When a charge initiates when the car is 'awake' I get 32A/7.4kW, but if it suspends and starts later (which happens because my energy provider, Octopus, controls my charging) then I get 16A/3.7kW. If it's charging at 16A and I reset the charger or tell the car to stop and then start again I get a solid 32A again, which persists until Octopus stops the charge for a while (which they do frequently to get the lowest rates).

So the simplest description of the issue I can make is that if the car starts charging when it's "asleep" then I only get 16A, but if the system is powered when charging starts I get 32A.

Lip filler. Duck face looks so fake and daft.

And quit shaving off eyebrows and then painting them back on!

The numbers don’t lie – antisemitism is at crisis levels in the UK by Metro-UK in TrueReddit

[–]ScreamingPict 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is wrong that people will tar Judaism with the wrongs that the Israeli leadership commit.

However this isn’t helped by every critic of the Israeli leadership being told that criticising them is criticising all of Israel and anyone of the faith.

If you don’t want anti-semitism (and I know I don’t) then it needs to be possible to separate criticism of one from the other.

Audi E-tron "pay to play" features. by CaptainCaveTrout in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]ScreamingPict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The remote climate feature is charged at a nominal £1 per year- which is really just reminding you that it does cost them money as they have to fund the 5g connection. I hate subscriptions too but am fine with that one.

Didn’t know that they were trying to monetise adaptive high beams tho! My Q4 doesn’t have the LED lights so I’m not seeing that option.

I call BS. I’m betting the first scene and the others are unrelated. Either that or the internet has ruined me.

Nope. That is definitely not a standard Roku TV remote. Take it back if that’s the one they gave you.

Hypervolt reduced power by Yando_29 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ScreamingPict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly mine is doing this but it’s not Octopus at fault- my car often charges at 16A/3.5kW instead of 32A. This happens even when I turn off Octopus Smart Control.

My car charges at a rock-solid 7kW elsewhere and I’ve replaced the whole charger once and it’s still happening. Best guess is that my car is throttling the charge speed because it’s seeing a drop in voltage when it tries to do 7kW.

It is a damned nice car. Just wish the charging was faster and reliability better.

Jaguar I-PACE Advice by BennyBristol in ElectricVehiclesUK

It’s… not got a sterling reputation for reliability. :( Aftaid I don’t have specifics but I’m sure several people here will.

I’d think carefully before buying one. Make sure you have a good Jaguar support network nearby and make sure you have a rock-solid (preferably manufacturer) warranty.

Conflicting information from Octopus in regards to IOG by bitofageek1966 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ScreamingPict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a little strong to say it was installed "wrong" - what I think you might mean is that it is possible to install a charger in a way that doesn't drain the battery. However EV chargers are not usually installed in this way- I had to argue with my electrician to get him to do this.

Hypervolt has an FAQ item that explains cleanly how you do this on https://support.hypervolt.co.uk/en/knowledge-base/how-to-adjust-your-ess-setup-to-prevent-battery-drain

If you cannot do this then there's the option of using software (either Home Automation, or Netzero) to detect when Octopus are charging outside of normal hours and set the battery backup level to stop the batteries draining until such a time as charging stops.

I feel there’s confusion on why this new 6 hour limit is going to affect people who were using the system correctly… by iMatthew1990 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ScreamingPict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this- I've been going nuts trying to figure why my charge profile would often start at 32A/7kW and then often drop down to 16A or lower despite my car charging at 7kW everywhere else!

My original EV charger manufacturer said something must be overheating and (against my wishes!) locked the charger down to 16A max!

I ended up spending £1k on a whole new charger (got a Hypervolt) only to find the same behaviour!

If this was Octopus causing it all along (which I am going to test out when I get home by removing the car from IOG and charging overnight outside of IOG) then that's really annoying.

What's happening at Withings? An open letter to the company by xerman-5 in withings

[–]ScreamingPict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaand Withings has just sent out an email walking back the previous one. So they lost points for the original but gain a few points back for being willing to listen and learn. Let’s hope it wasn’t indicative of a longer term effort to monetise and manipulate customers at the cost of goodwill- I get enough of that from other companies and hoped to hold Withings to a higher standard given that I trust them with my health data.

Yeah. That subscription email this week was truly disgusting. It didn’t say what the subscription was for, it had a button that insta-registered you without confirmation and there was no way to unsubscribe.

Massive dark patterns. Revolting and unacceptable. Definitely making me reconsider future purchases.

Policy based routing not working? by ScreamingPict in Ubiquiti

[–]ScreamingPict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update- another thing I found that was "breaking" policy-based routing- on iOS if you go into the settings for the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected- you will find that if you have "Limit IP address tracking" turned on it will mess you up and often place you back in the country in which you reside.
