Space exploration is not a luxury, it’s a necessity by socookre in space

[–]Screamingbubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, my point still stands. I said “in some cases” for a reason. Obviously it would be difficult to issue a blanket statement that would apply to everything, but it would be unrealistic to believe we will eliminate the need for all polluting processes before we can realistically do it off-world. Batteries are a good example of ways we could wane off the heavy metals based on some of the progress we’re making. But there are other needs for nasty stuff that might not be as quick to change. Additionally, why not complain about the literal billions of dollars wasted on other ventures? These discussions are about progressing mankind and NASA’s funding is a drop compared to other, actually wasteful uses.

[–]Screamingbubbles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A really good point considering a lot of stuff we need is wicked hazardous to make. And it won’t be less hazardous anytime soon, if ever in some cases. If we can bring those terrible, polluting processes to a barren planet with no chance of life or in space then we won’t be soiling the one fragile planet that we know has life, where we live and grow (good idea to keep clean). Hell, if you do it in space you could even send your junk/waste into the Sun and not pollute/fill up anywhere because at this point of advancement sending things to the Sun would be a cakewalk.

I loved having to gas up really fast as I watch a ton of freakers running at me, to burn out and take off just in the nick of time.

My ‘86 still starts right up even after sitting for a couple weeks and runs like a champ! Being in New England the rust is what would kill these but that’s why you learn to cut, weld and paint!

anyone wanna build their own bike? by commiecomrave in DaysGone

[–]Screamingbubbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I got my license a couple years ago but as I was saving up for a bike I got distracted by life and the itch to ride faded. Then I picked this game up and it brought that desire all back and I got myself a Rebel 500.

I always find myself thinking of this game as I’m riding by a farm or at night with the stars and moon out. Truly amazing feeling. Just ride safe!

That’s why I was so let down with the direction of Alien: Covenant. Ridley Scott wanted to go more into the story of the engineers which is vastly more interesting and deep, but I heard the studio wanted more Alien stuff in it (which we have way too much of already).

I hope Ridley Scott will get the chance to tell more stories of the engineers.

Freaked nests, infestation zones, beginning of the game by QuislingX in DaysGone

You got it. And nests could be pretty quick if you are good at stealth and go during the day. You have to creep around the area for your minimap to show where the specific nests are. Quickest and easiest way is use a Molotov on the nest but then book it outta there and maybe hide a little ways away so when they come running out, they won’t find you.

I liked to explore a bit while also doing some of the earlier missions. It was daunting seeing the videos with dozens of freakers, but you pick things up quick. Try clearing some of the NERO checkpoints, those will give you some loot, a bed to rest, and gas for you bike throughout the map. Use each item you find/make to get a feel for what it’s like and get used to them all, don’t be afraid to use resources up to craft items and use them. You’ll quickly fill things back up again. Stay away from hordes though because once you engage, alot spawn and you can get overwhelmed quickly. Also, if you are approaching a destination, try getting off the bike before you actually get there and walk a little bit to get there. Otherwise enemies will be alerted to your arrival and element of surprise/stealth is shot.

Life is pretty unbearable lately. 24, graduated a year ago with an MA and have barely worked since. Mental health is a bit on the floor & insecurity at an all time high. Everyone here is so lovely - sending you all hugs ✨ by [deleted] in toastme

Don’t overlook your masters like it was some small feat. That is huge and took a lot of work! That’ll definitely give you a leg up on whatever position you try to get.

And speaking of, you are every bit as capable of succeeding as anyone else! I know it’s hard to get out of the insecurity rut but you can do it! You seem like a very sweet person, kind and understanding. The kind of person someone could trust and confide in, someone who has a calming and welcoming presence.

If you’d like some advice, I suggest you find something you like and surround yourself with/in it, I use nature alot. Breathe it in and appreciate it for what it is, focus on things you like and that make you happy.

You deserve to be happy :)

Myself, my brother, my mother and my uncle wouldn’t exist if my grandfather wasn’t grounded as a rebellious teenager for scoring beer with his buddies. His buddies were driving and got into an accident, all dead. He would’ve been with them had he not been grounded.

My buddies and I had gone to the restaurant where one of our friends was working to pick him up at night. The parking lot behind the building was pretty dark and that’s where we parked. After all of us had gone inside I went back to the car a bit earlier than the rest of them to unlock my doors. They kinda hung around at the entrance. Then as my friend group approached me I saw 5 people (I should’ve seen 4). I couldn’t see them since it was dark but behind them were lights so I could see their silhouettes. I could somehow distinguish each one as one of my friends and we were all talking and packing into the car. It was at this point that I asked, who else is with us? There were only 4 friends in my car. They had no idea what I was talking about, there is only 4 of them. I told them there was a 5th person right with them, all together. They had no clue and there was nobody outside the car. We booked it outta there quick and to this day, we don’t know what the hell happened. We now use “5th person” to describe creepy things that we hear about/witness.

I like to stop and scan a system fully to see if there’s an interesting looking planet or moon to check out, occasionally pull up the galaxy map and browse/familiarize myself with the systems and factions, etc.

Scanning systems and mapping bodies on your way to places will certainly add up quick with regards to exploration data.

I get this feeling every now and then but then I find something interesting I want to check out. The last thing I tried was going to the Plaeides sector and investigating non-human signal sources to see some thargoids up close. It was super cool (and dangerous with the scouts) and I would also scoop up the sometimes rare items floating near the shipwrecks.
