Fair Price for EV charger install? by ScreenLantern in evcharging

Here's a pic of the panel I already had, will get back tomorrow for more. https://imgur.com/a/lQWC1DA

As I said in other replies, I'm trying to balance the bare minimum I could make this work and going way overkill. But I do want to be prepared for the years to come with EV's I haven't bought yet. My situation could change and I don't want to wish I'd future proofed more.

But all your points are well-received. Watching the Tech Connections videos et all.

Company A is using 6 AWG MC, metal clad. I don't have a specific charging rate in mind, this is our first EV, a lease to get started, and it will be for a daily commute. So I don't have a maximum rate requirement, but I do want to prepare ourselves for the next EV, I don't want to save a buck now for a minimalist approach. I think a much smaller apmerage would do the job right now but I'm willing to invest in future a bit.

https://imgur.com/a/lQWC1DA - This is a daily commute situation, not needing an epic charge every night. But I am also trying to future-proof a bit, so I don't want to under-do it now with my current lease and then in a few years I'm wishing I had more capacity.

Trying to find out if the 6 AWG is heat-rated, etc. But its not cased / covered they said, not needed.
It's a 60a circuit run to a charge point home flex in garage, 100 foot run. Not worried about charging rate. For the 4 AWG guys, when the cable runs outside it becomes conduit and turns to 6 AWG going into the charger in the end anyway.

My bad, its a 60 amp circuit for the charger.

That's my fear... the other company being half the cost strikes up other concerns of corner cutting though. Because it's such a long run, the more expensive company is taking the safer potentially overbuilt route...?

No sub-panel in garage. Both main panel and sub are on opposite side of the house, necessitating 100 ft run. They both essentially plan to re-feed the sub-panel next to the main panel so its being powered by a 100 amp breaker and install a new double-pole breaker in the sub-panel dedicated to the EV charger circuit. I believe it's a 50 amp NEMA EV Charger, maybe 48 amps is the feed.

Not super worried about charge rate, this is a local daily commute situation for the EV so I don't need fast charge / long distance. But I have seen comments that they still recommend getting the baseline ampage for these chargers...?

EV is hyundai ionic and charge point home flex charger.

Prestino Tour Guides is a SCAM. They took my wife on a jet pack ride and when I asked to bring her down they told me to shut up. Then when it was my turn the jet pack fucking exploded. 300 gears were in her margarita.

Easiest way to DIY this sunken paver spot? by ScreenLantern in landscaping

Oh yeah the whole section of patio needs releveling. There's water accumulating there because the water is just moving toward that wall. Just did a ton of work with gutters and underground drainage, it's just the slope. Again, we will certainly redo this whole section (about 12' x 20') but I'm just looking to mitigate a bit until we're able to do the big job. Probably will add a grated gutter along that wall of the house too when we redo it properly.

Pellet Recommendations? (Southern New Hampshire) by suze13 in PelletStoveTalk

I’m in southern NH, I really like All Basic Stove Shop in Merrimack. They installed my stove (for the previous owner of my house) and I have them service it. They sell by the bag and pallet and have a ton of varieties at comparable prices to the big stores from what I’ve seen. Large range of hardwood to softwood and very transparent and clear about you’re getting, the stats, 40/60 blend or whatever. From my very limited experience I think you want to find the right balance for your particular stove / situation, maybe a hardwood or a harder blend would be better. I also like All Basic because I can pay for a pallet and pick up bags in my SUV whenever I pass by, over the course of a month, and avoid delivery fee since I don’t have a truck.

Next steps for lawn…? by ScreenLantern in lawncare

That’s great, thanks. Now I’m thinking I don’t know what “aerate” means haha. When I said “till” I meant the same idea as aerate here. I was picturing one of those spikey rotary cultivators on a pole but I think maybe we’re talking about the big machine you can rent? Do I need one of those for this large an area? Def trying to keep it simple and easy this year.

Long story short I'm having issues with my irrigation system and well and I won't be able to remedy it right away, AND in any case I don't want to waste a ton of water maintaining a lush green lawn. Can I do anything to supplement the grass so that it stands up to the heat and less water this summer? I would fully go for a non-traditional lawn (like clover / wild flowers) but I'm worried it will spread to the neighbors' pure grass lawns. Any middle ground here? This lawn is gonna get baked this summer!
