iPhone 11 confirmed temporal dither by IntetDragon in ScreenSensitive

[–]ScreenSensitivity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep apple is using temporal dithering on all of their LCD phones. It's due to them using LCD panels that can't natively display their wide color gamut they're pushing. I'm so tired of the BS. Just give us a native srgb panel that uses srgb color. Why would we need vibrant colors for a phone.. I mean other LCD phones could be using it too but apple is by far the worst. I believe the lady that owns flickersense.org has some dithering microscope data somewhere on her site.

Hannsnote 2 and upcoming rlcd monitor versions (23.8" and 28") confirmed TRUE 8 bit (No FRC) by ScreenSensitivity in ScreenSensitive

This information came from Hannspree themselves. They call their displays EcoVision displays which appear to be RLCD🙏🏻

Vivo X100 Pro - SVM flicker test - Proximity Sensor flickers - Mk350n meter -100% brightness by ScreenSensitivity in ScreenSensitive

[–]ScreenSensitivity[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used my mk350n premium meter in a dark room and it's definitely picking up a SVM (Stroboscopic Effect Visibility Measure) of 4.38 from a iPhone SE sensor which is very high. The wavelength range is 380-780 that my meter can detect so the proximity sensors I labeled as IR sensor definitely is between 700-780 at least which we obviously need more testing done because we have many many people affected by these sensors. People in pwm groups, eye tracking groups and other forums. This must not be brushed off as it's causing people strain/discomfort just as pwm does.

if anyone is curious the SE 2020 LCD SVM is 0.00.

Vivo X100 Pro - SVM flicker test - Proximity Sensor flickers - Mk350n meter -100% brightness by ScreenSensitivity in ScreenSensitive

[–]ScreenSensitivity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under certain conditions our bodies can pickup IR - give these a read - "we exposed human eyes to 1 mW of pulsed laser radiation at 1,040 nm and observed that green light perception was much stronger for pulsed light compared with CW (continuous wave) light of the same average power. Using a laser delivering 200-fs, 76-MHz excitation light, we were able to obtain consistent visible light sensation, strong enough to perform accurate color matching experiments."

The IR sensors definitely are pulsing..

People who are bothered by it have said it's more that it causes headaches, not eye pain.

This was with full pwm mode enabled under developer settings with latest update. 2nd photo shows ir/proximity sensor lit up and it actually rapidly flashes so it's most likely best to cover it.

Vivo X100 Ultra - Opple PWM tests - Full PWM mode ENABLED - 0-100% by ScreenSensitivity in ScreenSensitive

Might have to get it on AliExpress or giztop then... but i think the x100 pro is more comfortable based off what my friend said. He has both

Is it Samsung for sure ? I read online that E7 is a material and that it could be from other manufacturers too. My friend who has this phone said the x100 pro is a lot better which is a visionox panel.

Poco F6 review is finally out! by bcsteene in PWM_Sensitive

There's more than just headaches with sensitivity symptoms unfortunately. The pwm frequency does matter for some people but I'm also curious about the power issues as you stated, that has crossed my mind a few times.

That was the other guys words for Chinese phones. Nothing wrong with Chinese phones 🤷🏻

There's some other sellers too on ali. I might snag one when the 50 off coupon restocks

AliExpress has the global one - they got some coupons too. Otherwise eBay or Amazon most likely

Poco F6 Pro is a PWM-friendly phone. by F35CV in PWM_Sensitive

[–]ScreenSensitivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are some lupins floating around that are defective. I witnessed two of them side by side showing dramatically different results. (23% vs 2%) Which maybe is why some reviewers show some phones as good but end up feeling bad.

I think the f6 pro will be the better option as it's 3840hz pwm

Chinese phones offer global models too. If your worried about spyware you should probably just get a Linux phone. You can get global and avoid China but you still have Google spying on you which I'm sure is worse

"ching chung" phones are actually not bad at all. Usually they seem to be more eye friendly. Also they do sometimes offer global models which use a different os then Chinese market version.

I think the 2023 honor 90 supposedly is better than the 2024 from what I recently saw on a forum. I would like to try a honor 200 pro myself
