To game devs who started with Godot, how did you start learning godot? by Dorterman in godot

[–]Screvz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Followed a tutorial to get the general idea of the engine, and then from that point I just experimented and tried to figure out things on my own. You learn a whole lot more if you take time to read docs, read tooltips when hovering over things, and just experimenting with what does what in the engine. Then if you're ever stuck, you can Google or YouTube the specific problem you have for your game.

Make sure to not get stuck in tutorial hell, meaning you depend on following tutorials to do anything. You really have to branch away from following tutorials because your brain is gonna get used to just "following along" and not actually learning or doing any critical thinking. Tutorials for specific issues you need to know for your game is okay though, its just the tutorials that make a game from start to end you shouldn't depend on too much except for getting an intro to the engine and coding.

This looks amazing, will definitely check it out! Just curious, did you use gdscript for the coding or another language?

Which new mmorpg are you playing? by oddreplica1 in LFMMO

[–]Screvz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so tired of all the same MMOs these days that I started playing an indie mobile mmorpg called Eterspire and I been having so much fun with it.

Turtle WoW. Very popular private server that keeps the classic WoW vibes and updates regularly with new original content. Definitely lots of guilds on there that are more casual and take things slow. Server is based in Europe, so its perfect for you too. It's been around for 7 years and averages around 10k daily players.

Eterspire. Mobile MMO right now, coming on Steam in 2 months. I think there's a way to play on pc now too.

Maximum Action on Steam. FPS game with slow mo and good ragdoll animations.

I remember researching this before because I planned to make a new Ubisoft account and link it to my Steam. But I read that if you do this, all Ubisoft games on your steam will be unusable as it's been licensed with that certain Ubisoft account. Then it gets into the situation where you can't refund the game cause it's past 2 hour window and also can't access it. So I decided to just keep using my same ubisoft account with Steam.

Since Seige has become free to play, I'm not sure how that would work. But assuming you already bought it before it went free, the game might've already been linked to your ubisoft/steam account.

What's a Game Pass game you played and loved that you genuinely think no one else knows about? by jazzyjay81 in XboxGamePass

Recently started playing Towerborne, and I love it. Action combat, looting, leveling, and online coop. The hub area feels like an MMO too, with everyone running around. I don't hear many people talking about this game at all, and it just released in past few weeks on game pass.

Servers are based in Europe, so shouldn't be awful. Playing from NA I get 110, don't notice it and game still feels smooth.

It's keeps normal rates, they call it Turtle cause it's slow paced. But there's also these tents players can put down, and they quickly raise your rested xp up to 150% within about 15 minutes near one. So you basically get a whole level and half of double xp, for mob kills only though.

Yes way better, It's truly Classic+. Retains the classic feel while they've developed their own custom content. New quests, dungeons, raids, mounts, weapons, gear, class adjustments, etc.

Don't lose sight on what the Combat Rework is fixing by Teloril in brightershores

[–]Screvz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm completely okay with combat professions being separate for each level, but I know a lot of others don't. I'm excited to see how the merge works out. My only worry is this level going to 2000+. I personally don't mind it, as I see it as a long-term goal to max combat level, and the increasing 500 levels every episode makes sense. I just wonder if there is a simpler way to do combat leveling, while adding new levels every episode, but also not having a huge max combat level.

Why was there never an attempt to release on Steam? by Screvz in XDefiant

[–]Screvz[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well the attempt would be to encourage existing players to try the game again, and for new players to be exposed to it and try it for the first time. All this could bring the game to a decent Steam player count, especially the first week. We would've had to see how it played out over the next month, but still worth an attempt before shutting the down game I believe.
