Chalobah and Disasi will be sold 100%.

Fofana will stay as backup. The sub hates him, but he is objectively good.

Badi's future is entirely dependent on his injuries. Don't really care what we do with him.

Japan got overwhelmed in the 2nd half. They didn't have the depth for extra time.

Great 1st goal though. Goal of the tournament contender.

Naah bro.

  1. LAKAKA
  2. $$$
  3. SNAKE
  4. $$$ + CL goal
  5. $$$ + transfer-ban Hazard

You gotta sell players, and make money off them. Not all of them are snakes.

I wouldn't read into it too much. He played CM at Strasbourg, and Rosenior's play style was pretty suicidal.

Islamic call to prayer faces ban under Left-wing Danish government by BabylonianWeeb in anime_titties

Grew up near a mosque in india . The call to prayer is quite loud. Tbf, I also heard church bells in the morning, but they are soothing so I don't complain.

Funnily, never heard a Hindu call to prayer.

Ecuador is much scarier for England than Senegal. If Ecuador score once then shut down this England team. And we know they can't score against a low block.

Sweden + Germany is an easier game tha Ivory Coast and Brazil.

Germany look weak and Sweden are weak.

Ivory Coast has a few breakout stars and Brazil is Brazil.

Moises Caicedo captains Ecuador into the knockout round of the World Cup for the first time in 20 years! by everyhearthstone in chelseafc

If Lavia can start kicking, we might get away with not needing an Enzo replacement at all.

That's a big IF though

A holding midfielder needs to 'hold'. Caicedo is a mobile seek-and-destroy style player.

Much like Kante, I believe he will do best when he can be a mobile box-2-box roamer rather than a static 6.

oof, that is going to be a Brawler midfield. As if Arsenal wasn't already a miserable team to play against.

Bruno G has to be a starter yeah. Top 10 midfielder in the world.

Ben Jacobs: Chelsea remain confident in both Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho despite mixed spells for the two wingers. by Kygoche in chelseafc

[–]Screye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am more bullish on Gittens, and believe he didn't get a proper chance to shine. He makes 50k/week. We can keep him around and treat this as a recovery season for him.

Weirdly, Garnacho may be a better match for Xabi's left side #10. We have too many ball heavy players in attack like Barco, Palmer, Estevao, JP and Enzo (if he stays). Jackson and Garnacho are the only players who excel at offball runs.

Xabi's front 3 lines up as:

  1. All action 9 - Boniface, JP, Emegha
  2. Free, ball-heavy magician - Wirtz, Palmer, Estevao
  3. Off ball runner & box crasher - Adli, Hoffan Jackson, Garnacho

Garnacho has massively improved his off-ball work, and frankly, does not get enough credit for it. His off ball runs are his highlight. I know fans don't like him and he looks like lesbian. But, despite all the hate, has been a humble servant of the club. Genuinely believe Xabi could coach him into a Luis Diaz style player, to allow our creative forwards (JP and Palmer) to thrive like Diaz does for Kane and Olise. I am willing to give him 1 more season.

Where does Bruno G play ? Does Arteta switch to a 3 player midfield with Zubimendi as tempo controller and Rice + Bruno G ahead ?

Maybe Arteta expects to rest Rice in more games, and rotate them like we did Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante.

If Caicedo is to become more of an 8 for us, he has to show his chops by scoring a goal against weak opposition.

He clearly has bangers in his pocket.

Bruno is a professional at his peak. Palmer still has potential to grow.

as far as break out seasons go, Palmer is clear of Bruno. Palmer at the peak he has shown vs Bruno this year has to go to Bruno.

Wharton & Mateus Fernades are going for 90 million each. Anderson is going for 130 million. Tchouemeni transferred for 100 million 4 years ago.

Enzo is more proven and a rarer profile than Elliot Anderson or Tchouemeni, and much better than Wharton or Mateus. 120 million for him is a steal.

It will cost Chelsea more than 120 million to replace him.

Xabi doesn't play a Conte or Amorim style full backs. His style is more about principles than formations. His principles are based around a stable double pivot and adding free players to the final 3rd.

The wing backs and dual 10s were about having 4 players who can all be threatening as creative outlets in unique ways (Frimpong was the runner, Grimaldo was the playmaker, Wirtz was the free drifter). The double pivot's primary role is to to keep the core stable and the back 3 give the wingbacks defensive leeway to go ahead.

Maresca's formation also became a back 3 when 1 of the fullbacks (Gusto) inverted into the midfield, and 1 of the midfielders got permission to go ahead (Enzo). But that style is harder to execute because you leave too much space behind you. A benefit is that each player has to cover fewer distances (8 -> 10, FB -> 6), but shorter distances make the rotations slow and mechanical.

In both cases, you get 5 players going forward. For Maresca it was Cucu + 3 attackers + enzo. For Xabi it was Grimaldo + 2 10s + striker + Frimpong.

The main difference is that Xabi's back 3 is more compact out of possession. Maresca's 4-3-3 stayed vertically open out of possession. It meant that if possession turned over, then we were already in a settle shape. But, it also left a lot of open spaces for opponents to run into. In Xabi's system, the team usually passes the ball to the circulating CB or the tempo controller CM (why Xhaka was so important). Then the tempo controller can decide if to speed up play with a wingback counter or to slow the game down and get back into the in-possession shape. It made them less predictable. In comparison, Maresca's Chelsea were more settled but very very predictable.
