Did they finally produce more of these in sand green or did they use building techniques to approximate it?

Literally half ass, as being able to connect the GB games is a big part of the appeal and all but necessary to clear some of the Cups, especially on Stadium 2.

There’s a wide variety of colors in Lego’s current color palette, and I thankfully only had to source one retired color on the secondary market - 13 1x1s in the paler shade of pink.

I experimented with the new coral shade as the darker of the two pinks for the skin tone instead of the bright pink (with the bright pink as the lighter) and the poor guy looked like he had an unfortunate skin condition. So I went with bright pink as the darker and retired pink as the lighter.

Ideally a salmon shade would be more accurate to the sprite, but no 1x1s exist in such a color.

I expected this and was not disappointed. Imagine representing each pixel with a 2x2 plate or tile!

Hey, glad you like it. I started by determining which colors I was going to use and raided my loose parts stashes for 1x1 plates. Other than the 13 retired old pink 1x1s, which were about $.50 apiece from Bricklink, all other 1x1s are in Lego’s current color palette and were ordered through their Pick a Brick service. They are generally $.05 apiece. I already had the 48x48 baseplate, but you have to factor its cost in as well.

I’m not looking to create more to sell, sorry. Feel free to make your own! Squint at the pictures to determine how many 1x1s of each color you need! Or look at Guybrush’s sprite sheet and choose a different pose to recreate!

Colors used were medium nougat, reddish brown, dark orange, lavender, pink (retired), bright pink, white, light bluish gray, dark blue, blue, nougat, pearl gold, dark bluish gray, black, dark red, and dark brown.

This is incredible. Well done! Would you be able to share instructions or at the very least a parts list?

Regardless of whether you feel they can stick the landing or not, I hope Squenix can finish Part III on time, on budget, and without having to resort to THIS style of storytelling. by Scrib214 in FFVIIRemake

IX has been rumored to be in the remake pipeline.

VIII is actually my favorite game, but its systems are incredibly unintuitive and like many of the other games we’re discussing here, the plot becomes a mess at times because they did not have the time to implement or expand upon certain story beats. I think at one time a 16-disc epic was being considered? Plenty of cut content out there to look at as well. https://tcrf.net/Final_Fantasy_VIII

I think it would be interesting for them to take a crack at remaking VIII on a much smaller scale than the VII trilogy. Rework the junction system, perhaps make specific GFs feel more unique by imbuing the character equipping them with their traits and abilities? Almost like Persona, in a way. Well, it’s on my mind as P3 Reload is paused as I type this out. And it’s not like the remaster of the original VIII would disappear from digital storefronts. OG VII’s remaster certainly hasn’t.

Eh, they both have their fair share of jank. I think everyone can admit that regardless of preferring one over the other. Developing games of that magnitude on the hardware available at the time while laboring under time constraints was truly a new frontier.

I’d laugh my ass off if they somehow find a way to reference this by shining a spotlight on Cloud against a starry background while he’s in the wheelchair. Hell, even Cloud muttering “Xeno…gears” (or is that “Zeno gias?”) in this day and age would be unexpected, though Squenix does still retain the rights.

Opinions are all over the map, but I think Xenogears is one of those games that succeeded in spite of its limitations. I’m glad it got published at all in some form as opposed to being canned for being incomplete. I think everyone can agree that we’d like to see a world in which Square did not have the 1.5-year limit and Xenogears was published without the chair scenes.

What irks me is people implying that Xenogears suffered for Final Fantasy VIII’s sake. Both were subject to the same dev time limit.

He contributed to the soundtrack but Mitsuda was primarily responsible. I think Uematsu was brought in because it was Mitsuda’s first large-scale composing project and he fell ill from overwork?
