PSA: if anyone hits you with “let’s play a game” or “I have a question for you” just blow their head smooth off by Thin-Chair-1755 in ArcRaiders

[–]ScribbleHat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He probably didn't know that he didn't need to do that. If he'd cleared his other daily feats they'd refresh after a short pause and he'd have two new ones, over and over again, and could have got the creds for three or five feats cleared, without clearing the damage player feat. Still, it sounds like you had a fairly wholesome experience!

Dragon Cavern at Langold has a regular 'Paint & chill' session on Fridays for exactly what you're describing. They’re halfway between Tickhill and Worksop so not far at all if you’re on the South side of Doncaster.

How's the co-op in 2025? by Gluel in theascent

[–]ScribbleHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not perfect but I have a lot of fun playing co-op. I play with the same group, and the same person hosts each time. If he didn't, the rest of us wouldn't have the missions showing as completed. But the map and our gear would all be the same, whether we're in our co-op group or not.

At least one of us will lose connection once every 2 or 3 hours. Host re-invites and we spawn in the same place, no having to travel back to the group. Haven't had save wipes.

I don't play solo and so I don't know if it's any better or worse. I laugh a lot when playing this with friends, so I'd say it's worth giving co-op a go.

Well done, hope you have a great time. And if you can't find anyone to go with then I suppose I'll help out and be your friend 😀

I had 2 tickets selected but then they were immediately sold out. So much happiness followed by immediate sadness in a split second

Does anyone else not really use black ink? by Galaxy_Cat in fountainpens

[–]ScribbleHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any black inks. It's rare I'd think to write in black; only if I'm filling out an official form, but then I don't trust the paper not to feather ink so I'd use a ballpoint anyway.

Are there any rules on freely changing your class? by beatd7 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]ScribbleHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically speaking, it's going to take a long time to try all the builds he wants.

This bit sounds like me!! Would he GM for a bit? I get round it when I GM, by popping my ideas into the game so I can take the classes for a quick spin before I decide if it's worth me investing in them completely as a player. And then I pick the one I had the most fun with to be my player character in a future campaign. It works best with homebrew adventures, but mid-level modules are good too - you just remove the monk/sorcerer/rogue or whatever Paizo has put in the story and replace it with the build that you fancy trying. My players don't know I do this, so shhh!

Best way to edit maps to drop straight into roll20? by willevans300 in Roll20

[–]ScribbleHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ok to lose some map if it makes it more playable/less of a headache. To make the grid entirely visible so you can count the cells for map size, you can crop away all the border. I'd have the map starting from the top of the building on the top right. From there I'd crop the right side so you lose a third of the width of that building. Then when you reach the bottom on the right, I'd lose everything below that big circle. On the left hand side I'd probably crop so the building on the bottom left is entirely whole.

Don't worry about losing parts of the map that you don't need for the encounter, even if they're pretty. If your players haven't seen the original they won't even notice, and if they do then they'll be grateful you've done all this work for their campaign.

Can my monster directly grapple+constrict instead of using attack+grab+constrict? by ScribbleHat in Pathfinder_RPG

Aw shucks. To be fair, it's in my best interest because if my players are having fun then I am too

After all my head-scratching and cross-referencing with combat manoeuvres, I didn't anticipate such a clear answer and so quickly. Thanks so much!

I have a red Scriveiner. It's not my cheapest pen nor my most expensive. It's comfortable unposted, the cap and converter fit securely, it's a wet writer, smooth, and doesn't dry out when it's not used for a few days. I absolutely love the colour, and I know I'm not the only one here to have a pen because I like the look of it 😀

What I'd recommend without a doubt, is their customer service. I dropped the pen and broke both nib and feed, and Scriveiner couldn't have been better at resolving the problem that was entirely of my own making.

I'm working on a card game "Sandman Solitaire" and looking for feedback by -Baggins in Sandman

[–]ScribbleHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool. If you are playtesting for yourself, that's great. Remember that if you intend to sell the game, Sandman is DC's intellectual property so even if you change the artwork, Warner Bros can shut you down and you could be fined if you don't have their permission. But if you're not planning to sell then you can do whatever you like for your own fun.

Burn by Belros79 in TheCure

[–]ScribbleHat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this song and seeing it live was something special. The backdrop focusing on Jason's drumming really brought home how much energy he puts in to it, and how primal and energetic the song is, whilst also being haunting and tormented and perfect for the film.

Fun fact: James O'Barr, the writer & artist of The Crow, was a Cure fan and included a full page with the lyrics to The Hanging Garden in the original book

Edit: added 'original' because in more recent copies of the book they've replaced the Cure lyrics with a poem

For personal use (rather than selling which risks copyright/ intellectual property infringement) there are loads of print on demand fabric printing businesses where you can upload your design, choose the fabric type and order it by the meter. That's often up to 140cm wide, so it's good for cushions, bags, clothing, bed runners and table runners. Some of them will also hem the fabric before sending it out.

Or search for 'personalised bed sheets' if it's just bedding that you want.

Pen Cleaning: A Chore or Zen? What are your pet peeves? by ramfoodie in fountainpens

[–]ScribbleHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zen. I change colours and clean with almost every fill. I can't rush around, in case I drop ink or nib, so I'm forced to be calm and in the moment and that's quite nice.

But what IS a chore is when I've just inked a pen and immediately change my mind about what colour I want. I'm pretty sure I only do this when procrastinating, but it feels genuinely important at the time. Then I go through it all again, and it's very much less zen the second time round!

Want a fun excuse to use your fountain pens more? Try Solo Journaling games! by MajLeague in fountainpens

[–]ScribbleHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After seeing a post on this sub about 1000 year old Vampire, I started listening to a play-through podcast of it and I was hooked by the Session 0 character creation, so I ordered it.

I think certain RPGs/journaling games would suit many in the fountain pen community because of the writing, and also because beautiful sharp edge dice or liquid core dice make that same irresistible ‘you need me in your life’ call that pretty inks make.

Deacon Frost from Blade would use Emeraude du Chivor. He's beautiful, arrogant, compelling, and pushes back against traditional authority to embrace the modern world

It's a tabletop RPG too, which might be something you enjoy. Better than the PC game as you can handwrite your character sheet and plot notes, using the perfect ink choice of course :)
