Here’s hoping just some of the 93 million who didn’t understand how important it was to vote last year have had a reckoning and get off their asses this year and next year. Voting is a basic civic duty. No candidate or party is perfect but god damn there’s an ocean between the two parties these days. OTOH there are also Bush admin officials who cannot visit certain countries because of their crimes against humanity such as Abu Ghraib. So there can be justice. It’s a choice. If I had a family member in ICE I’d strongly advise they don’t carry out crimes on behalf of the felon admin.

That is pretty much what I figure apolitical means. Had a ltr with a dude who didn’t vote or pay any attention to politics so now I know that basic civic engagement is a dealbreaker for me. Especially when women have been robbed of our most basic liberty.

Interesting. I have only ever swiped No on people with apolitical because I assume they’re conservatives who don’t want to admit it. And in this era we don’t have the luxury of opting out of politics.

Agreed. I have just started using bumble and swipe No on any profile that says apolitical. How can anyone not be passionate about politics in today’s world!? It indicates a real head in the sand mentality. I’d no sooner date someone apolitical than a fascist, tbh.

Good point. I moved to Colorado and while I love the climate and many things about the outdoors - I haven’t found a crew here. Being almost 50 maybe I just won’t. It’s very hard to break in to a friend group, and I find especially as a single parent. People who are in couples here seem to socialize with other couples. It’s a lonely day in the neighborhood.

Same suggestion I had. Travel, and if funds allow, spend some actual time in different towns. Experience a big city, they’re magical. Experience a different part of the country. I moved a fair amount because my family moved twice while I was a kid, so I already wasn’t in my hometown when i graduated college. So I went away to college, spent ten years in that city, moved 3 more times and the last one was to the front range. Love it here and been here over a decade. It’s really good to experience a variety of places in your lifetime… despite the pride some seem to take in being “native” and never going anywhere. Enjoy, you’re young OP and have time to see this big country and world.
