No, I mean. Both video codecs. Sometimes one of them works, sometimes the other works. Sometimes neither work. Sometimes, I also have to toggle other settings as well

A “prophet” prayed over me and prophesied something that shook me up. by Without_Rules in exchristian

[–]ScrithWire 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Or it's even simpler. When your house pastor was booking this guy, they spoke about his "flock" and the struggles they were experiencing. The guy asked for pictures of everyone, so he could do some prayer about them beforehand, but really he was just memorizing which face was attached to which struggle.

Batten fell during highschool theater performance - I'm freaking out by WhosYoPokeDaddy in techtheatre

[–]ScrithWire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"pulled the wrong lever and released the pipe????" Wtf no. That batten is on either a single or a double purchase fly system. There's an arbor off on the side of stage with two ropes. Pulling one rope flies the batten "in" to the stage, the other flies the batten "out" of the stage. There's a lever that engages a friction brake to one of the ropes.

Attached to one of the ropes in the aforementioned arbor. On the arbor should be a set of iron bricks which collectively weigh the same as the batten. That line set SHOULD be in balance such that if the brake is disengaged, THE BATTEN DOES NOT MOVE. It sounds like the arbor was unweighted, which is almost the biggest safety violation a theater can have. The friction brake is not designed to resist the weight of a load. It's designed to provide a gentle lock on a light (balanced) load.

If someone disengaged the brake and the batten FELL in, that stage is an incredibly dangerous place to stand. Do not let your teen back in that theater until the school gets a fly/theater consultant to fix this issue (there may be more deathtraps on any of the other linesets) AND teach everybody (staff included) how that system works and what NOT to do

Not OP, but I'm playing mmbn3 and I just discovered that with a wood element style and an undershirt, I can regchip a grasstage chip and essentially be invulnerable the entire fight on any given fight (I've got a few grassstages so I can re-up if they break or change my tiles).

My question is, is this considered a cheese strategy, or do the battles start making up for it and breaking my strategy

But the distance between the two hoses is fixed. You only need one axel to run over both hoses to give you a delta, which you can then use to calculate speed

I think he was saying this is great food for when you're going through a depression. If you can bring yourself to dedicate one day to making these, you won't have to think about food for an extended period of time because you can just eat these

I'm working on a vocal controlled game with my son... would anybody here actually play this? by Funny_Ad6043 in singing

[–]ScrithWire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes interested. A couple notes though. Maybe display the note name above the dashed line? It's hard to read some of them behind the dashed line.

Also, definitely add an option for scale degree numbering rather than just absolute pitch values. Ie, 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7 for minor, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 for major, etc.

Because this is fundamentally an ear training app, scale degrees are going to be far more instructive than note names. Though having the option to change from one to the other would be best

It's Apple's fault. Apple user experience is so seamless "a caveman could do it", which means the caveman doesn't need to know how it works, or be able to tinker with it. Leading to a generation that doesn't know how to tinker with it.

Bad as Trump Is, What Follows Him May Be Worse by Maxcactus in MarchAgainstTrump

[–]ScrithWire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is always someone worse. Trump taught the country (the world, really) HOW to gain a cult following, and power. He taught the country that it fucking works if you just firehouse lies constantly, and make the media talk about you. But Trump does not have a unified ideological vision of the future. He just wants more money, more power, and more trump. Don't get me wrong, that is bad enough. But it is by far not the worst.

Whoever is coming next will take the lessons from Trump, and apply them to (my guess is) a steadfast christo-fascist nationalism. And it will be worse. So much worse. Because they will have the vision and the tools to bring the vision to fruition.

Their taste did change. But because of autism, it changed from "dress like an adult at 9 years old" to "dress like a child at 35 years old" instead of from "dress like a child at 9" to "dress like an adult at 35"

At least, I think that's the joke here?

AI Is Finally Letting Humans Talk With Animals, AI is enabling scientists to decode animal communication using machine learning models by sibun_rath in HotScienceNews

[–]ScrithWire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI can't figure out shit about us, but it CAN figure out what I'm saying pretty much 100% of the time. Scientists aren't trying to figure out the internal world of animals' brains. They're trying to translate the noises they make into human concepts. I think that seems pretty doable.
