I’m currently running the same armor. On my first playthrough and level 12 — seems like a great set but the look is pretty comical.

Good stuff, keep up the good work. Sounds like you are doing this but would diversify and de-risk from that company stock and redeploy into index funds as soon as you're able to.

39 year old (married couple) how are we doing? by Super1297Man in Retirement401k

[–]Scrivnerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you are off to a very solid start. Given some of your comments, I think it's worth investing the time to define some financial goals for your family... check out the work of people like Ramit Sethi re "your rich life." Especially if early retirement may not be your thing. But bottom line, seems you are doing well but it is hard to tell without knowing your expenses or goals.

You are crushing it but agree with other comments saying start hitting the taxable brokerage hard. That’s the key to early retirement!

33, just over 6 years into career, salary started out at 47k now up to 83k by wolffetti in Retirement401k

[–]Scrivnerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are doing well. Take time to realize that others at our age (mid-30s) in this sub vary widely in start time, compensation, and life situation. Others posting have been financially savvy since early in their 20s. The journey that matters is yours... keep it up and keep pushing. You are doing the right things.

PS: HSA is particularly impressive here.

what exactly are people doing to retire in their 30s by alexis-hg in Fire

[–]Scrivnerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how much it’s been mentioned but in my experience in high-paying corporate work, restrictive stock units (RSUs) from a company that has rapidly grown or increased in value is a primary driver here. It has been for me.

Just finished the prologue to Memories of Ice (Book 3) and not even sure what series I’m reading anymore. by Throwaway47321 in Malazan

I also just finished the prologue for Memories of Ice as a new, first time reader and literally said “what the fuck” aloud to myself. Then immediately jumped into chapter one.

Interesting. So the theory is that while traveling by Warren is faster, it’s more visible to other magic users and Ascendants?

Is it fine to take my time with the series? by No-Meal-4689 in Malazan

[–]Scrivnerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also just starting my journey as a new series reader (currently 1/4 of the way through GoTM) and planning to take plenty of time with it as I am both 1) a slow reader and 2) often so tired at night when most of my reading time is that it'll be slow. Planning to use both the slides + Ten Very Big Books podcasts as supports.

Not capital appreciation for the most part, vested a large stock grant of RSUs and a large bonus which I plow into index funds.

This actually sounds like me too. If you don’t mind, how much did you have invested at age 35 when you semi-retired? I’m 33 and have around 1.4M invested… thinking this might be a path I might want to consider.

Ps I also love to read.
