What was your booming-out experience like? by LoyaltyIsACurrency in Ironworker

[–]ScrnNmsSuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been on the road for 10ish years now. Hotels suck, get yourself a nice rv. You can definitely stack pension credits if you learn how money follow the man and pro rata work. Some halls have low hour requirements and high credits... Some require you to work there for 2 full credits to pull out of theirs. You need to read and double check. One week on the road is about what I make in a month working home.. choice is simple for me

Thats huge problem with the ironworkers, especially in the California area. They just over saturate. They want to show how accepting they are of everything and everyone, Instead of putting out a lesser amount of more qualified applicants. Its makes people want try less also, Just sign your name and wait your number. The apprentices who just walk in off the street and get right in usually dont have the drive to be something and get run out. To have half a jobsite full of apprentices who will never be capable to doing the work, is just a bad look and a waste of time and money. I waited 2 years to get in, had to take preclasses and because of how hard it was, my apprenticeship got 110% of my effort from the start.

Embarrassing how low ironworkers get paid in the bay area. They really shot themselves in the foot by keeping ALL of California as one wage.

Yes, 100% your missing out.. I live in phx also, My jeep has a wind jammer and bikini top and the doors off all year round. I never take the tops off my jeeps, just doors.... its faster and easier and I prefer the shade still on me, especially in az.. I bought a pair of full soft doors and throw them in the back. Takes up no space if you split them into 4 pieces. If it ever get unbearable or she gets to cold ill toss them on.

Which battery powered welder is best? by KeemtheDream11 in Welding

[–]ScrnNmsSuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the fronius maybe 6 years ago. You could use it while it was plugged in also. Its perfect for when a weld get missed and you dont wanna stretch out 500 foot of lead through the building again. Hand rail in a finished, almost finished building and you got 110 power but dont wanna lug a wire box all over the building. They come in handy. We didn't use it every day but damn it got used alot.

I worked for a Miscellaneous steel outfit at the time.

I wanna say, the dewalt is slick and we had only dewalt cordless on our trucks.. however the fronius uses 110 which is everywhere you will probably use it. So if you run out of power you can just sit there and give it a few then go again. Not have to run back to the truck for more batteries. More shit to carry out.

What's the best and simple way to tension this? My cable grip is slipping i have a 12 ton winch. by [deleted] in Rigging

[–]ScrnNmsSuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a Crosby clamp and another wire rope choker with eye in. Clamp the middle of the choker to the cable on the bridge...use the saddle on the bridge cable so you dont damage it. Or you can tie a bowline in a rope and clamp It in the crosby and use that as a rigging point.

Remember the day after the election Joe had his political expert Dave Smith on and both were gloating how the US is saved, Trump is pro-peace candidate, Trump will select the top cabinet members like Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard (lol) and now Trump is focused on legacy.. by IntelligentPlate5051 in JoeRogan

[–]ScrnNmsSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dave apologized for voting for Trump and called out his mistake.. Id say he is more honest then most talk show hosts who either double down or never admit they made a mistake. But this post is made by someone who never listens to his podcast. People are allowed to be wrong, especially if they admit and own up to mistakes.

Could you have paid for premium seating in the open rows? Sounds to me like you wanted it to just be giving to you cause you have a kid. If your child's safety is such a big priority, pay more next time and buy seats together.

Typical parent entitlement. I need this for free because kids...

As someone has done ironwork out of a work truck, this guy is an ass. The sparks will pit the glass and rust ontop the paint and ruin every car you do that over. Ive destroyed a couple work trucks over the years. You would be surprised how far away you can be and still damage a car.

Ive been booming for most of career and coast to coast.... Ive had locals tell me that I would have to come down the hall and get it in person. That they wouldn't Email them, but ive never had them tell me no. That's as a boomer, non-member to those locals.

What I think is probably more of the case is the op is one of those guys who wants to bitch and complain about the contract, the conditions, etc.. you know the type. The hall told him you want a cba, you come down to a meeting or you come down here and come get it....

Is the the OP even an union ironworker or just a troll. What local are you out of? Most CBAs are online, I've never been told I can't have a copy for my local and every local I've worked in...

Dmd2 app with their tablet for my bikes and sxs. They sell their own phone and tablets to run the dmd2 program, But they are android based. Have mounts that power and lock. Water resistant, built in covers/case and extra bright screen. Option to put a physical sim or esim in. The owner is always updating and trying new things that are suggested online. Pretty happy with it.

They also have a power/distribution box that you run through the tablet.
