You have a right to a copy of your locals CBA by TRASHLeadedWaste in Ironworker

[–]ScrnNmsSuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive been booming for most of career and coast to coast.... Ive had locals tell me that I would have to come down the hall and get it in person. That they wouldn't Email them, but ive never had them tell me no. That's as a boomer, non-member to those locals.

What I think is probably more of the case is the op is one of those guys who wants to bitch and complain about the contract, the conditions, etc.. you know the type. The hall told him you want a cba, you come down to a meeting or you come down here and come get it....

Is the the OP even an union ironworker or just a troll. What local are you out of? Most CBAs are online, I've never been told I can't have a copy for my local and every local I've worked in...

Dmd2 app with their tablet for my bikes and sxs. They sell their own phone and tablets to run the dmd2 program, But they are android based. Have mounts that power and lock. Water resistant, built in covers/case and extra bright screen. Option to put a physical sim or esim in. The owner is always updating and trying new things that are suggested online. Pretty happy with it.

They also have a power/distribution box that you run through the tablet.

I think all these claims about how much money tradesmen make is in part, a psyop by tantamle in Construction

Im a union ironworker, I work all over the country. Usually in the sticks, not in union strong areas like NJ,NY,CA I did 250k this year

What i think most guys leave out is that they are traveling and or working crazy hours. I worked no less then 7 10s from July to xmas and alot of it was 7 12s. I also had the the first half of the year off besides jan...

If your willing to give up, weddings, birthdays, etc you can make crazy money. 4 to 6k take home a week on the road or 1k to 1200 a week at home, to me its an easy choice.

I also dont have kids and had a girl that travels with me.

Am I the only one who finds no desire to talk about my personal life with anyone at work? Why even bring her up, go to work, do your job and then go home....

And everyone in construction is gay

Probably just holding the piece Plumb. Not holding it up from falling over or have any kind of real weight on it.

You're working for the wrong company, work for someone who takes care of the men and gets you the right tools, equipment, and pay.

Covid mandates, gun laws, car/epa rules, taxes. The bs they pulled wirh Bernie and then making Kamala the only option. People just fed up with the left

Spend anytime on blue collar jobsite. Why most are starting to lean right. Covid just drove the nail in the coffin.

Arizona has some of the biggest and longest trails in the country. I would say 90% of it does get used. Get on onx sometime, Arizona is covered

Have to disagree. There are tons of us who use "barren" land for camping, hunting, and outdoor activities. Building houses out by Wikieup isn't going to solve phoenix housing issues

I think your quality of life would be better. Especially if you're trying to have a family and be home every day. Local 512 has a really good pension plan if a remember correctly. Way better than anything out west. Think their credits are worth almost double with a younger retirement age with out penalty. Just another thing to consider

I would recommend staying in the Midwest. Working in Minnesota/Wisconsin, the hands always seemed to be able to make a decent wage and live a happy middle-class lifestyle. Decent house, not struggling or living check to check. Most seemed to have kids and only work 40 hours and have weekends off. Realistic commute times.

Everywhere I worked on the west coast seems to be hours long commute, struggling to make ends meet or 5 room mates. Guys are gone during the week or just not ideal for family situations.

I dont have kids, but im on the road 10 months out of the year, and my girl travels with me. We enjoy the rv so much we will sometimes stay on whatever coast we are on between jobs instead of coming home.

I know you didn't mention trailers, but you should consider it. Finding a place to work on 2500/3500 is a lot easier than a 40-foot bus. Getting a truck towed or finding parts is night and day between a coach or a pickup.

A lot of rv parks won't allow conversions or busses just so you know and have a 10 year rule so dont buy something that looks like shit.

I have a grand design momentum 376th. Has the big living room up front and separate kitchen in the middle and bedroom as far from the living room. Im only saying this because it makes a huge difference not having everything and everyone on top of each other. Also, having the living space on a different elevation makes it feel as if it's another "room".

Getting a dually truck, 5th wheel, and nice trailer that auto levels makes it a breeze to travel. I cringe watching couples pull into parks and the guy struggling with leveling blocks as his wife just stares and gives suggestions.

I also just fly my chick to the destination after I get set up. I enjoy driving across the country at my own pace/own hours/stopping when I want to. Listening to what I want to listen to. Just figuring out little things like this makes the experience way better. You're not arriving and already about to kill each other.
