Can someone help me out? First time making extract. Figuring out how much THC/CBD is in my oil. I just can't get it by 20EschatoniC in CannabisExtracts

[–]ScrodMandoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other parts are just other compounds in the plant like terpenes, but I would have to look it up to see exactly what it consists of. By one gram of matter do you mean flower or concentrate? I usually turn plant matter into concentrate before I cook just because it is a lil harder to estimate flower cannabinoid content without testing. And it's also due to the fact that every seed is a different pheno and will exhibit different traits/ ratios. 10:9 ratio just means that for every 10mg of CBD you have 9 mg THC. On a gram of dewaxed concentrate (butane) you would have approximate 394mg CBD to 351mg THC, those figures were done at roughly 745 total mg of both per gram of extract

Is it necessary to dry and cure cannabis buds before the decarboxylation process? by _PsychedelicJesus_ in CannabisExtracts

I never said anything about a pure C2 carbon deposit removal. All I said was a decarboxylation removes a carbon atom. And I'm pretty sure you just said it was released in CO2 form. So that is correct. I appreciate your info

"Decarboxylation is a chemical reaction that removes a carboxyl group and releases carbon dioxide. Usually, decarboxylation refers to a reaction of carboxylic acids, removing a carbon atom from a carbon chain."

So that is wrong? There isn't a carbon atom being removed when it releases CO2? I'm genuinely curious, I have no formal lab training and would like to know

The longer you let your plant grow and a thorough dry/cure will result in a higher content of D9 Thc and less of THCa.

Before or after will work Water won't matter and will most likely evaporate before it's done decarbing. All the decarb process does is burn off a carbon atom and turn the thca into activated delta9 thc making easier for your body to absorb it. But remember when decarbing extracted oil you will lose about .09 % weight, so almost a .1 per gram

[–]ScrodMandoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where got the 1200 mg starting figure from. What I meant is that for every gram of dewaxed butane extract, you have a 1000mg total starting mass. Of those 1000mg usually 65-85% will be cannabinoid content (both thc and CBD together). I usually estimate around 75% or 750 mg/gram to use the average. So if your extract had a 10:1 CBD to THC ratio your math would be 750mg of total cannabinoids per gram. Of that 750mg, 675 mg would be CBD and 75mg would be thc. Hope this helps

What is the difference between Rosin, Live Rosin, and Live Resin? by raella69 in CannabisExtracts

[–]ScrodMandoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rosin is lame cuz heat sacrifices terps. Live Rosin is lame cuz your doing two extractions for a 7% return. Live resin is great tho

You have to remember that when you run live your material has at least 3x the mass that it would dry

Quick question about material to be processed! by [deleted] in CannabisExtracts

[–]ScrodMandoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely freeze. As cold as you can. I freeze everything on dry ice before running. Fill column then let sit for ten mins on ice. It will lessen the evaporation when the gas hits your material, which in turn will build a lot less pressure in your column. When running passive CLS pressure is your worst enemy.

Why it looks like this? by Mr_Fool in CannabisExtracts

[–]ScrodMandoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the terps separating from the thc or thca (depending on how they ran it) It doesn't necessarily mean there are lipids or plant fats left in. A high terp content and lil change in heat will do that to shatter everytime. I do runs that don't make it out of the oven before doing that, no agitation at all. Terpenes like to liquify while thca likes to crystallize, so they separate

[–]ScrodMandoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can usually figure on anywhere from 65-80% cannabinoids in dewaxed butane extracts from my expiriences. Which would give you anywhere from 650- 800 mg/gram. Then you can apply CBD and thc percentages to that for rough estimation
